I am from Somalia and I believe Kenya is the only African country that lets other Africans to trade freely with out any problem.Kenya is home for all humans.

Our economy is slowing down, Uhuruto messed us up badly. You might not see it now but 20 years from now everything will be extremely expensive with a higher unemployment rate than today. If only wecould reduce our corruption to 30% a lot would change, without that we ain't going anywhere

But such interest has picked up over the years. In January 2024, the country announced the discovery of significant coltan deposits. The Constitution already has mechanisms to prevent challenges bedeviling other African countries, which include the classification of certain minerals to be of strategic imperative (such as coltan) and, hence, requiring a nationalized mining approach, rather than concessions to foreign companies. A geological survey revealed that the country may have over 900 different types of minerals. Therefore, besides adopting the Singapore model, the country can also leverage minerals to augment the strengths it currently enjoys.
Ive been looking into our mineral Laws etc, cause thats a concern i also had..... My Ideology- ( If it wont benefit everyone - leave it in the ground) -- And not an ounce should be dug up until factories are built FIRST!!!
We all know what will happen if these minerals are commercially exploited. The proceeds will only line the pockets of few powerful individuals. Won't benefit the rest of the country.
Kenyan here, I've seen a lot of those geo-spacial surveys and I doubt we'll mine for most of those minerals coz most of them offer insufficient deposits. Our law also requires mining companies to initiate land reforms after exploiting land and most companies don't want to coz it eat into their profits.
Similar with the USA 🇺🇸, which when starting out didn't have a dependence of minerals and fossil energy. It depend on its Human Capacity, unlike the South American Countries.
Kudos to Kenya from Nigeria. Despite their problens, their leadership and citizens are always working to inprove and advance their country with good socioeconomic policies and it shows. They clearly took the good aspects of what the British left them (democracy abd capitalism) and combined it with their own culture and practices to help advance their country.

Instead of judging Kenya from just this video i challange you to do extra research on Kenya and you will understand why the biggest companies in the world and international bodies choose Kenya as host to their regional headquater offices.Also i read an article on why a quater of staff in Newyork based UN offices will be moved to Nairobi Kenya year 2024-2025 inorder to serve the region from there.Trust me you will find something exceptional and special about kenya compared to other African countries.

Actually, we have all of that. Only that, it's like someone made sure we will not utilize any of it. There is huge gold reserves in Kakamega that no one is doing anything about. There is massive oil in Turkana, and potentially gas in the South Rift regions (had rumours awhile back about gas somewhere, which they are keeping secret until some important people have the land) And what is really happening to the oil in Turkana ? Then recently they said we have coltan in several places. All of those minerals, and all those we used to read about in primary school social studies ? The problem is clueless governments, that never come to power with the intent to grow and diversify (things they talk about a lot), but only to control sharing of the little resources we have. Haven't you seen them lately go to benchmark in Tanzania about "how minerals can be used to drive economic growth" ? I bet the Tanzanians were surprised
@@rosam674 It's not just "depend". We do nothing with the minerals we have. Can you imagine, the majority of mineral exploitation going on is artisanal. It is the locals sitting there in the sun and hitting rocks with nyundos, they sell very cheaply, and then the government celebrates that and they say they are improving our lives by supporting artisanal mining. Instead of establishing state mining companies and doing something serious. Even heard that people have been selling coltan for years in Embu to business people from Rwanda. Smart Rwandans surveyed the region with their intelligence services, and found out about Coltan in Kenya before the Kenyan government did. The locals have been crushing those rocks and selling to Rwandans without even knowing what they are, or why. How stupid our governments are! And far worse when you think of people like RiggyG leading decision making. Ruto is said to be smart, but he is not any different. Only good at filling his stomach. Otherwise he would never have time for the kind of people that form his administration.
Kenya has ONE thing/resource that's outstanding, unique special - its people. With proper, just and fair leadership who have integrity, who are not corrupt and greedy - Kenya can and will be a Singapore.
Singapore is a tiny island on a key shipping route in the most populous part of the world. Only Singapore can do what Singapore does. I wish the very best for Kenya but it has different strengths than Kenya does

Singapore is ranked 4th in Global wealth. Kenya is 108. Worlds apart. Kenya might be considered successful compared to other African countries but we should bear in mind the 9 poorest countries in the world are in Africa. Kenya got independence 2 years before Singapore . If it is so far off from where Singapore is now, it is unlikely it will be like Singapore. The 2 countries are very different, the people are culturally very different. Not just Singapore, other East Asian economies are also way ahead. This has to do with Asian values , culture , mindset. Something Kenya does not have. But yes, it can be the “ Singapore of Africa” which btw will not be anything like the Singapore in Asia because that is a totally different league in a totally different environment. Apart from economics, each country is very different in terms of size, population, demographics, etc. Challenges are different too. So rather than seeking to emulate Singapore Kenya should chart its own course.

There's a saying in Kenya, "even if you are up at 4 am everyday, without connections youre just wasting sleep".......Kenya is only good to foreigners looking to invest but miserable for most locals, resources and opportunities are hoarded by cartels and politicians, the last two generations of youth will not be able to start families let alone work in what they studied............it has led to a silent but potent culture of envy and resentment and avarice that is invisible to outsiders who are looking in, most kenyans when they are alone silently and bitterly ask themselves " why not me"? .......and then comes religion.......

In kenya, we don't have oil, we don't have gold.We are not endowed with mineral like other African countries.No government social welfare ....

Kenya has oil in Turkana and gold deposits in Western Kenya. What are you talking about? It's just that we have never depended on minerals to build our economy. Instead, we value service. Hence tourism, IT, agriculture, etc.
We've also got great deposits of coal, uranium, rare earth minerals
Actually, we have all of that. Only that, it's like someone made sure we will not utilize any of it.
There is huge gold reserves in Kakamega that no one is doing anything about.
There is massive oil in Turkana, and potentially gas in the South Rift regions (had rumours awhile back about gas somewhere, which they are keeping secret until some important people have the land)
And what is really happening to the oil in Turkana ?
Then recently they said we have coltan in several places. All of those minerals, and all those we used to read about in primary school social studies ?
The problem is clueless governments, that never come to power with the intent to grow and diversify (things they talk about a lot), but only to control sharing of the little resources we have.
Haven't you seen them lately go to benchmark in Tanzania about "how minerals can be used to drive economic growth" ? I bet the Tanzanians were surprised
@@rosam674 It's not just "depend". We do nothing with the minerals we have. Can you imagine, the majority of mineral exploitation going on is artisanal. It is the locals sitting there in the sun and hitting rocks with nyundos, they sell very cheaply, and then the government celebrates that and they say they are improving our lives by supporting artisanal mining. Instead of establishing state mining companies and doing something serious.
Even heard that people have been selling coltan for years in Embu to business people from Rwanda. Smart Rwandans surveyed the region with their intelligence services, and found out about Coltan in Kenya before the Kenyan government did.
The locals have been crushing those rocks and selling to Rwandans without even knowing what they are, or why.
How stupid our governments are! And far worse when you think of people like RiggyG leading decision making.

When i was a kid, i found a book about Kenya in the school library. Kenya seemed to be a good country based on that book. That was decades ago.

Singapore is ranked 4th in Global wealth. Kenya is 108. Worlds apart. Kenya might be considered successful compared to other African countries but we should bear in mind the 9 poorest countries in the world are in Africa. Kenya got independence 2 years before Singapore . If it is so far off from where Singapore is now, it is unlikely it will be like Singapore. The 2 countries are very different, the people are culturally very different. Not just Singapore, other East Asian economies are also way ahead. This has to do with Asian values , culture , mindset. Something Kenya does not have. But yes, it can be the “ Singapore of Africa” which btw will not be anything like the Singapore in Asia because that is a totally different league in a totally different environment.
Apart from economics, each country is very different in terms of size, population, demographics, etc. Challenges are different too. So rather than seeking to emulate Singapore Kenya should chart its own course.

There's a saying in Kenya, "even if you are up at 4 am everyday, without connections youre just wasting sleep".......Kenya is only good to foreigners looking to invest but miserable for most locals, resources and opportunities are hoarded by cartels and politicians, the last two generations of youth will not be able to start families let alone work in what they studied............it has led to a silent but potent culture of envy and resentment and avarice that is invisible to outsiders who are looking in, most kenyans when they are alone silently and bitterly ask themselves " why not me"? .......and then comes religion.......
