Finding a derm who will sympathize & actually help with bumps is way more difficult than you acknowledge, Dr. Dray. Most frown at you & refuse to help. I’ve been to 4 lately that wouldn’t do a thing for my various “minor” bumps. You are unusual, Dr. Dray, in your caring & kindness. I’ve come to the conclusion, finding a derm like you is difficult to impossible. Most are just interested in pushing expensive procedures and that’s it.

Wow thats not cool! Im so sorry you've had those experiences. I have Endometriosis, and I found that OBGYN were similar, it was hard to find one that actually cares and just wants to help me. Its so sad that there's so many medical professionals that aren't interested in helping everyone.

Also finding a dermatologist that actually sees patients for these issues in general, I've found I've been mostly pushed off to PAs and the actual practicing Dermatologists to be very short and dismissive. We need better quality Dermatologists. The PA that I see is nice (much nicer than the actual derm herself), but its obvious her knowledge of ingredients is lacking. Just writing this out makes me want to seek another (4th) dermatologist office.

I’m in Australia and have seen a derm on a number of occasions both with skin reactions and for adult acne in my early 40 s honestly she was just lovely sympathetic and worked with me to resolve conditions and educate me on best management and pushes sunscreen as a daily essential

I have bumps caused from chemotherapy and my dermatologist told me I was ridiculous to care and be happy I was still alive- yes, I’m very thankful I’m alive, but does that mean I want ugly bumps on my face???

It’s taken me in to my 5th decade to realise that when my skin barrier is damaged by over cleansing, over rubbing, I develop bumps and small comedones. I used to then treat these as acne which then further irritated and made matters a whole lot worse!

Discretion: speaking in such a way so as to avoid offending or embarrasing another person; refraining from stating certain thoughts.
Tact: choosing your words and actions wisely; sensitivity in dealing with others, especially regarding difficult issues.
😪 It saddens me that anyone has felt hurt by unsolicited & unwelcome comments from others about their appearance.
The comments are quite often said in the form of a "back-handed compliment" ie. "You'd be prettier if..." or under the guise of "just trying to help".
People have different reasons for being indiscrete and/or tactless; quite often it's so they can feel superior, to try to have power over you, or if they are envious of an aspect of your life in which they are deficient.
I find that a single word answer (like "no") is often sufficient to end the topic. If not, you can throw the question back at them and ask "Do you think that your comment is too personal?" Another way to end the subject is by just saying "I don't wish to discuss this". If someone says "you are too sensitive" I reply by saying "it balances out the insensitive".
However, if someone gets asked if they have had a freckle or mole checked I think you can assume that they are asking out of genuine kindness and concern. It''s normally if they have had a personal experience.

I truly cannot watch anyone else advising for skincare after I've seen some of your videos... You already helped me so much at my work (and of course my personal skin care routine). One day I noticed my skin tags were gone! I had lost about 40 lbs. Afterwards, when I was checking out a couple of low carb/keto drs on youtube, they mentioned that skin tags can be caused by being overweight and is a sign of pre-diabetes or undiagnosed diabetes. All I know is I had several on my neck and upper back for several years, and during the few months of me losing weight, they all disappeared.

I have rosacea; I honeslty believe in my older age have this because when I was a teenager I had acne. So I used strong cleansers like clearsil, sea breeze from the 80s. I honestly think those chemicals back then is what is making my face so easily red nowadays. I wish back then I would have done things differently. My new theory is gentle is always best. And sunscreen in makeup.

She did a whole video dedicated to this a couple years ago, sadly there’s nothing that will permanently get rid of it. There are procedures that will remove them but she says they’re likely to come back. She also said retinoid over time may help the appearance but again won’t make them go away. It’s a good informative video so I recommend watching even though it didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear :(

Mine are empty bumps. It looks like a small ward. During my pregnancy I developed a lot of milias around my neck. Also bumps in the top of my back. I am glad I had the financial means to treat them.

I swore I have milla. My derm said it was something else. It looks the same. They burn them off. That was the only way they said. They said it happens after sunburn (I don’t go in the sun) or sometimes just happens in fair skinned folks (I am super fair). I don’t know why it’s not milla. It’s under the eyes, forehead and cheeks. I use all the skin care ingredients you listed and I can’t stop these !

OMG Forgot I had a skin tag on my neck for a long while, and u mentioned it and just realized it is gone. How? No idea. I have had the first 5 “bumps “ now and then and haven’t taken them serious, because it didn’t turn to be a skin condition in my case. All I knew I had to do was to stop eating crap food and more water. Sorted.

Good morning Dr!! What are your thoughts on metronidazole to treat Rosacea ? My main concern is persistent redness. I was just diagnosed with rosacea my dermatologist prescribed this cream I’m only on my second day but truly value your opinion Thanks 😊

I had what I thought was a mole on my back. When I went to the Dermatologist for a body scan he spent some time looking at it and finally said he thought it should come off. He removed it right there in his office.

Thanks for covering the bumps from rosacea. My local cosmetic clinic recommends light therapy (BBL, HALO) for rosacea. I have seen some written articles about this online but I don't know if there is any scientific research that holds evidence that these therapies help with alleviating the redness and bumps of rosacea?

I don’t know about those but the derms I follow and personally consult with recommend pulsed dye lasers like vbeam or excel v for rosacea

The problem is in Canada it takes 18 months to see a derm, so we dont have that option for everything. Plus you can only go to one through a general physician recommendation and they would never send you to one for a bump on the skin. lol

Do you have the option of paying to see a dermatologist out of pocket in Canada, just curious how your medical system works and if you have other options

Greeting to you Dr Dray from the Uk. You looked lovely this evening in your video. I found the information about bumpy skin most interesting. I have learnt so much from you about skin conditions and skincare. My skin is gradually improving and I am starting to get comments from people. Thank you so much for your daily videos and all the research you do for use on TH-cam on different skincare products. Angela

A good aethestician will remove milia for you. I had to find a private dermatologist who advertised mole removal to get my one taken off. She also burned out two swollen oil glands. It was not too expensive to get done.
