  • Here’s a cool and unique project you can make for your kids, grandkids or for use as your own Arts & Crafts room - “The Crayon Box Wall Clock”!
    The models and layout were created entirely in the Vectric Aspire software, but I’ve made this project compatible with VCarve too, by exporting the crayon box composite model as STL and importing that into the VCarve software. Both the Aspire and VCarve file formats are included.
    Features used while designing include Create Shape, Two Rail Sweep, Tilt/Fade, Drawing and Node editing tools, Snapping features, and Interactive Trim.

    Michael, this is a fantastic project. I'm glad that you left the wood bare for the yellow areas. I think I'll try one or a few of these for some of my grandkids.
    My only suggestion is that a person might want to bring some of the green around to the sides and maybe bottom.

    I am making this cool project. On the roughing cut with the .25 EM it is cutting to deep in spots . Checked everything I could think of and redid and it did the same thing. When I do a preview of the tool path it shows it to work well but when I run it the bit swoops down in the crayon sharpened area and ruins it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    I really like this project. Thanks for sharing. I wonder though, why not just make it out of one piece of 6/4 and avoid the glue up? If your bit is long enough to cut the through hole for the clock and top cutout, then it seems to be able to be done with one board. Or am I missing something?

      Hello Matt, thanks for the comment. Yes you are right, but Mike wanted to be sure the majority of our users could cut this. But your are correct.

    awesome work, great video and well explained 👍. Curious, how did you lighten the colours for the crayons, example dark blue tip and light blue wrapper, etc

    • @CarvebuddyCNC
      @CarvebuddyCNC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I mixed a little white paint to lighten a couple of the more intense colors.
      I already had most paints on-hand, but I went Hobby Lobby, found a Crayola Crayon box, then took it with me to the Craft Paint aisle to help me choose colors I didn’t already have (the purple/lavender colors, for example).

    I know this is a bit old but I was wondering why this wasn't just carved out of 1 piece of wood instead of having to do the glue up?

    • @vectric
      @vectric  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Louis, thanks for the question. You would need Aspire so you can modify the files.

      @@vectric thank you but that doesn’t address or answer my question at all. I asked why was the project made out of two pieces of wood. It appears that the project could have been done with 1 piece. I’m trying to understand the thought process as to why it had to be two pieces of wood.

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there is a script you can get via a youtuber called gurubrew. You set up a touch plate and adjust the parameters of your own plate so it zeros correctly.
      Search on youtube for gurubrew, then scroll through to the video.
      Let me know if you can't find it and I'll see if I can.
