This song is just as iconic as she is. Keep in mind, I was not born in the 80s, but I love this number. If you want to hear something mellow from Cyndi Lauper, if you haven't already, check out her song Time After Time.
Imagine working on this video in any capacity al you'd ever have to say in life is "I was in the Girls Wanna Have Fun" video.. and you are in no resume / explanation required.
Cyndi is an amazing multidimensional person. A true trendsetter. Two other songs that display her personality are ‘Time after Time,’ and ‘True Colors.’ BTW she was great to see perform in person.

Cyndi Lauper so amazing singer better than Madonna …. Voice so deep and emotions on real life …. Each album is gold mine ….nothing stop her for great fun time !
Great reaction to an amazing song :) - You should see the move "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" that´s where I first heard this song. I was 12 back in 1985 when the movie came out.
Some of my favorite female artists of the '80s.... Irene Cara: Fame, Flash Dance What a Feeling. She is a singer from the '80s. She just died about a month ago. Pat Benatar: We Belong, Shadows of the Night, Invincible, Love is a Battlefield.... Bonnie Tyler: Total Eclipse of the Night, I Need a Hero Laura Branigan: Gloria, Self Control, Solitaire, Breaking Out, The Lucky One *my favorite '80s female singer Quarter Flash: Harden my Heart, Find Another Fool, Take me to Heart
Some songs just capture the mood and energy of a moment of time in history, and this song really conveyed the spirit of the early to mid-80s: energetic and free-spirited.
**Cyndi** is actually 69/70 years of age now ( in 2023 ) and, as far as i know, still going fabulously strong 😁; she truly is absolutely marvellous...!!! And, if you´re not already familiar with them, you might want to suss out *Spice Girls* and *Bananarama* ( two British girl groups ) as well as *The Go-Go´s* ( like *Cyndi L,* also from the US ) - oh, plus *The Bangles, Annie Lennox/Eurythmics, Devinyls* and many more - ALL of whom had tonnes of major hits during the 1980´s, and quite well beyond...!! ~🩷💖
Cyndi has a thick Brooklyn accent. That's her in her native New York. Her real-life mom plays her mother in the video; Lou Albano portrays her dad. That's her own bedroom.
Just love the 80s it's my youth... Don't take much to take me back to the more simple days... Less channels to watch yet more entertainment, going out in the street with friends till late... No mobiles, just enjoying childhood, movies was better, the cinema was always full.

Although it was her debut single and will always be associated with her, Cyndi didn't write it. It was written and first recorded by a guy named Robert Hazard. A guy.
Yes, people are mostly unaware that this is just a cover version. Ditto with Joan Jett's I Love Rock n' Roll, and The Go Go's Our Lips Our Sealed (co-written by Jane Weidlin, but recorded first by Fun Boy 3).

Hi, try the second well-known song by Cyndi "True Colours" The first song fresh, pious, cheerful, free and the second much calmer and with deeper meaning, but nevertheless - my favorite.
Cyndi Lauper is still performing - this was her breakthru song making her a star - a feminist anthem/pop classic. I also recommend the following female singers/bands w/women: Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Deborah Harry (BLONDIE), Heart, The Go-Gos, The Bangles, Laura Branigan, Stevie Nicks, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Annie Lennox (Eurythmics), Diana Ross (The Supremes), Karen Carpenter (The Carpenters)& Olivia Newton-John.
PS: That was Cyndi's real-life mom in the video (she sadly died recently from Dementia; Cyndi took care of her while she was sick) and she's also a very big supporter of the LGB community.
If you liked Cindy Lauper, you probably should check "Time after time" and "She bops" from her. Time after time is my favorite song from her, but it is a little more romantic. She bops is more dynamic, just like this one, and at the time, very controversial.
Hi Irina, Happy New Years! I was an 80's teen and this brought back some happy memories. If you're looking for female led bands, you might want to try Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Bandmaid, and Heart.
She was asked in an interview if being famous had changed her life, and she answered "Well, I can eat every day now if I want to".
so humble and so sad at the same time 😔
She was considered old by rock and roll standards. 30 yo when this hit.
Love this song.
She's So Unusual, her debut album, is a Big 80s classic. Cyndi went into acting, as well; she's still around.

Her Father in this video was played by Lou Albano, who was a Professional Wrestling Manager in the WWF. Very popular back in the late 1970's and 80's.
Lou Albano is still number 1.
And her mother in the video is her real mother.
She was also in a relationship with Lou when the video was made.
She's still around. I saw her a few years ago in concert and she still had so much energy.
Cyndi is an amazing multidimensional person. A true trendsetter. Two other songs that display her personality are ‘Time after Time,’ and ‘True Colors.’

You should do a reaction video to SIA . There are also professional dancers in some of her videos which you might like.
Did you know this is a cover version 😮
I would recommend The Bangles, Walk like an Egyptian. They are an all girl band.
she came out the same time as Madona, Madona stole the limelight from her well so they said back then
Yes...Back then music critics predicted Cyndi Lauper was the next major SUPERSTAR, and Madonna
would fade, be forgotten.
"I Drove All Night", "True Colors" and "Time After Time" are ok also.
If you liked Cindy Lauper, you probably should check "Time after time" and "She bops" from her. Time after time is my favorite song from her, but it is a little more romantic. She bops is more dynamic, just like this one, and at the time, very controversial.
Sometimes boys just wanna have fun too 😂👍
Fleetwood Mac - Rhiannon
Heart - Barracuda
Memories of my High School year's!!!

Hi Irina, Happy New Years! I was an 80's teen and this brought back some happy memories. If you're looking for female led bands, you might want to try Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Bandmaid, and Heart.
Cyndi Lauper's voice: If a foghorn could sing.
