Tom, this is such an outstanding series on building a whaleboat. Believe it or not, I watched all 13 episodes tonight in sequence 1 through 13. I will be building the Model Shipways 1:16 New Bedford Whaleboat using Eric A.R. Ronnberg's outstanding book and instructions. I also want to incorporate some of your tips and techniques. All of my modeling is done by hand. I usually do not use any machinery, not even an airbrush. I like the quiet while I work while I listen to classical music. I had a hairbrained idea of displaying my whaleboat model on wagon wheels as they were delivered from the boat shops. I haven't decided yet but I don't want to miss adding all of the whale craft. You must have a very strong constitution. I know I couldn't stand to listen to me prattle on for that long. That kit by Ronnberg build into a very nice model and his book is one of the bibles, so you can't go wrong. Good luck.
