I picked up one from an Omega Boutique earlier today. Amazing piece. I switched to the clasp and a large strap. A couple of times I came really close to getting one of the Dark Side’s and went into the OB and they had this one. I said I would like that one and spent some of the kid’s inheritances and figured they could fight over it when I’m gone.
I actually think it's kind of poetic that this watch represents the pinnacle of human technological achievement by housing a piece of a celestial body in it, yet reminds us of our humble beginnings as a species by placing it in a "rudimentary" leather strap.
Thank you for this video. What a lovely watch. I like this vintage touch to the super sporty and still looking modern Speedmaster. The details are amazing. I also like the new Speedmaster with lunar stones integrated in the sub dials. ❤️ For sure the Speedmaster is my grail. Beautiful, universal, timeless and memorable.
My big gripe with all the DSOTM watches is the crown. I prefer a screw-in crown, not for its water resistance, but rather because I don't have to pull the crown out with my finger nail. If you've ever tried to pull out the crown on one of these DSOTM watches, it's tough! You really have to pull hard with your finger nail to get it to that first position.
This is a variant of the finest chronometer that Omega has ever made. The 9300 movement is incredibly accurate... my individual sample will keep within a second day-to-day. I have the same model watch featured in this video, and it was my grail watch (even though I could have purchased a Daytona, etc.). The dial is gorgeous, and looks different depending on how it catches the light. It's a subtle watch, elegant, and often people have to take a second look to realize what it is and how beautifully crafted and finely made that it is. And, it is a very scarce variant because of the dial. Yes, it's expensive, but it will hold its value over time. A fine watch is an investment, and if you're into Omega this is a good investment.
2-3 mm smaller and I'd seriously consider this watch. It's incredible but the size just completely rules it out for me and plenty of others I'd imagine.
Wow that thing is wild looking!! The ceramic case speedmasters are amazing built. Omega wasn’t messing around. However, speedy hesalite for life for me lol
I love this watch, I was worried I would have trouble seeing the dial, but after trying it on I was surprised how legible it was. I just wish it came with a bracelet rather than leather strap.
Its definitely got character. Love the idea of meteorite on the watch that went to space. Probably a good thing its too big for my wrist otherwise I would be poorer. Again great review Bruce as we have come to expect
That's awesome....Love it 😍 Surprised that ceramic is lighter than stainless, dunno why I expected it to be heavy. I get what you mean about wanting the purity of the original styled ones, but tbh I'd have this in a heartbeat if my lottery numbers came up- that dial coming from space clinches it, and it's a bonus its beautiful too (+ I prefer an auto) Impeccable timing with the video too mate, very classy. RIP Michael Collins, a genuine hero. 🌙🚀👍🏻👍🏻
I love the meteorite dial, I only wish the water resistance could improve to 100 m for those who travel and accidentally jump into a swimming pool or lake. ( just that comfort feeling that the watch is safe)
Hello good afternoon, I am interested in buying an Omega Seamaster 300m diver Chronograph with gold and steel, but I am also undecided about that Speedmaster Gray side of the moon, which one do you recommend? your videos are very nice. best regards
Hi - I have this watch and a non-chrono 300 sea master. If u had to keep both if keep this ceramic meteorite. To me, the choice comes down to the more exquisite tech of ceramic, the redness of the gold, the travel-time-zone movement that jumps the date back and forth, and the meteorite dial. The sea master has the depth rating going for it if you’re going to swim in it. So are you looking for sleek, light, hi-tek - or heavier substantial steel depth? Oh, and I wear a lot of grey and anthracite suits and cashmere pullovers so these colors are great. And I don’t live in humid climates so the leather strap is great and as good as metal or ceramic because of the great clasp.
Actually... if I remember correctly... the story is that the omega didn't make it all the way up there because it broke... the actual watch that ended up on the moon was a bulova... so... the bulova would have the "best story" ever.
Well you do not remember correctly so his point stands. Neil Armstrong’s Omega Speedmaster was having issues so he left it behind however Buzz Aldrins Speedy was accompanied with him to the surface of the moon.
I love the gold 50th anniversary model and the two new versions in Sedna gold ,white gold and all snoopys All four models are grail watches The hesalite speedy is probably the greatest and most famous watch in all history Explorer went to the top of the world while Speedy went to the moon and back instead
I appreciate the special materials. But the legibility of the dial is very degraded from the matte black versions. So not to my taste. For a fancy Speedy, my favorite is DSOTM Apollo 8.
The problem with this watch and all the ones with the Co-Axial 9300 movement is that they are too damm thick. And yes at this price I want everything to be perfect and the one I am going to wear everyday. My humble opinion.
"maybe it would boot the sapphire sandwich that we're all drawn too as watch enthusiasts". I don't like things just because people like them. I don't nuthug the speedypro just because iTs bEeN n SpACe. This watch is better in everyway excluding the new speedy bracelet. Additionally as someone who has tried on some grand seikos with titanium bracelets. I know i would downright hate this watch if they made a bracelet out of the ceramic. The GS titanium bracelets taught me that when i see a bracelet that looks steel but isn't steel, my mind automatically perceives it as cheap plastic even if i know its an exotic ceramic/titanium material. Only thing i'd change on this watch is removing the domed crystal on the back to make it less (obnoxiously) thick.
This one is a great looking overall package, and the colors just flow so well together. However, I do think a lumed crown, on any watch, is a bit much. It really serves no purpose.
They couldn't make a ceramic bracelet. I have the Grey Side that has a partially ceramic fold over clasp which is gorgeous, but they had to use titanium because when they tried ceramic it would crack. A ceramic bracelet would just not work. And they clearly don't want to use steel or Titanium instead...
@@theaussiewhinger ok thank you. I must have been unlucky to step out at the wrong time. Beautiful watch. I was guessing it was up there. I have an old quartz rado that is entirely ceramic and cool for that reason. Any time they add precious metal even in small quantities the price goes nuts.
The only thing i hate from thos piece is ceramic case..... very very fragile... and price is almost 1 submariner rolex, its a weekend watch and not an everyday watch.. and i cannot see the value proposed from this beauty ... you cannot even wear it for cardio
I have this watch and must disagree. While it is not as substantial as steel, it is NOT fragile. I also have a sub and this watch is better for n terms of beauty, tech materials, and movement, albeit not in depth. Finish your s a draw. Contrast between the two comes down to tech luxury vs simplicity (again except for depth and/vs chrono).

Because of the 9300 caliber’s jumping hour function, if you start the chrono at noon or midnight you can indeed track 2 time zones. My favorite hack.
I do the same thing. It is a GMT/Chrono. Pretty cool feature.

Awesome review.
I love the white side of the moon.
And Omega released a ceramic
All black sea master.
Hopefully the will release an all white version 🤞🤞

It fits your hand so well!
"Average watch enthusiast"??? Cmon Bruce. Who are you kidding? You are THE DEFINITION of a watch enthusiast. Love it man!
You do a great job I love listening to you thank you very much
I love the Dark Side Speedmasters, and this one is incredible. Wish they would make them in a smaller size I do.
2-3 mm smaller and I'd seriously consider this watch. It's incredible but the size just completely rules it out for me and plenty of others I'd imagine.

i have the same watch. LOVE it!
My grail is the titanium Speedmaster with the 9xxx movement, perfection in my eyes!
Wow that’s a stunner!
Wait, wut? Omega made a watch that was worn on the moon? Is that what you said? You'd think Omega wouldn't keep that such a secret!
That's a beauty
It's a mistake to overlook a beautiful watch. It's a choice to buy or not to
The hour and minute subdial at 3 o’clock can be used as a second time zone.
Nice solid review. Like the watch, and considering the materials used, reasonably priced.
I love this watch, I was worried I would have trouble seeing the dial, but after trying it on I was surprised how legible it was. I just wish it came with a bracelet rather than leather strap.

For the nerd in me...does the minute counter jump each minute or creep along....if that makes sense?
It’s nice if your into that sort of stuff
I wonder why the sapphire back pops out like that when the 006 SS doesn’t
That's awesome....Love it 😍

Truth. The size is a little bit too big for people that are small wrist, should adjust the size to 42mm
Sharp! 👌
Hi Bruce, great video. What are your thoughts on the grey side of the moon version?
I love it. I want it.
What kind of meteorite used in this one? Is it a moon meteorite or like rolex its an gibeon meteorite!?

Hello. The only thing I miss is an applied Omega logo. Cheers!.
13:30 Perfect timepiece for a Swede
The Zelos Speesmaster. 😃
I dream of owning the Speedy Platinum 321 someday but this may be the one I actually end up with.
I'd be all about this version if it didn't have the gold on it, would look awesome with just ceramic or even titanium, etc. shades of grey only.
Nice Review Bruce. Didn't catch all dimensions. 50 LtL.....
Yeah Bruce, gorgeous. Too expensive though. I have to stick with the mortals and remain content with the Hesalite version . Great review. Cheers mate.
It would be awesome if a Speedmaster came out with a moon rock dial. Or a meteorite from the moon. If either were possible. $$$
Dang it, this watch is Mark-proof
Actually... if I remember correctly... the story is that the omega didn't make it all the way up there because it broke... the actual watch that ended up on the moon was a bulova... so... the bulova would have the "best story" ever.

I find it odd that the lugs are hanging in the air, but I understand that others may like it.
The Speedmaster is one iconic piece but for me I would rather have the Seamaster all day long, my personal preference

Hey Bruce too much going on for me , but a very cool piece indeed .

Love it. Omega doesn't usually grab me but this is great.

BW SQUAAAAD!
Damn how many editions of the speedy are they going to make? Getting pretty ridiculous in my opinion..
I too would love to see this on a bracelet and downsized a little.
I do not understand why they keep on making 44mm special edition watches. Either their clients have large wrists, or they just like toying.
Don't you have a channel called "2 is 1"...?
No this is my only channel
Price????? I like your passion and experience but that is a major omission. And put it up front please. Thx Bruce.
He did. Around 14.5k $
Did you even watch the video? He did state the price at around 6:40. 🤦♂️

If that actually came in a two tone roseler bracelet, I would be all over it.
