you can charge ut with every phone charger, the quick chargers comunicate with the phone, then the phone is telling it to give more power. this doesnt happen with a ps4 controller. a quick charge block has a standard output of 5V. and for the other questions, yes 5V is ok, doesnt matter how much mA or A. the ps4 controller will use a max of 800 mA. so it wont go over 800mA. also it also charges if you have less then 800mA charger

That just means that is the required minimum current and it will not pull any more than 5v @ 800mA. I’ve used 2 amp chargers just fine on many things like this. The controller has onboard circuitry to prevent overcharging and overcurrent with a microchip called DW-01 built right into the battery. Plus, the charging circuit itself has software to limit the charging current since you can charge and play at once.

(05-08-19)Update, after watching your video I tried to charge my PS controller based on your advice with my iPhone 6+ charger it was to much underpowered an iPhone charger delivers 5 Watts (5 volts at 1000 mA). to charge and play at the same time is not an option I could play for some 25 min. not more. It is safe when you’re using a 5 volts charger but do not exceed the 8000 mA. I want to know are there phone chargers that can deliver 5volts 8000 mA?

Lots of confusion on this subject. Power supplies are rated to deliver a specific voltage at a maximum current. Trying to power a load that requires more current than the supply can provide will overload the power supply and drive it into an unspecified operating condition (voltage foldback, overheating, shutdown, oscillation, etc.). Electronic "loads”, like the DualShock controller, specify an operating voltage at a minimum current rating, like +5V @ 800ma, meaning it requires +5 Volts (say within +/- 10%) and will draw a maximum of 800ma of current from the power source (charger). So ... any functioning charger that specifies a +5V output at 800ma (0.8A) OR HIGHER should charge the controller. A charger that specifies any other voltage other than +5V is likely to damage the controller (though most all such devices have some level of overvoltage protection). A charger that specifies less than 800ma should not be used because it does not meet the specified current rating indicated by the manufacturer (Sony). Chargers that provide "Rapid Charging" should work fine (if they meet/exceed the power requirement) unless the manufacturer specifically states it should not be used to charge standard devices. Chargers that deliver less than 800ma offer no guarantee of working (slow charging), as they’re clearly underpowered for this requirement. The problems many of us are [likely] having is we live in a world of cheap consumer-grade electronics, where specifications don’t necessarily represent reality. If your compliant charger doesn’t seem to properly charge your DualShock controller (and some of mine don’t), it’s likely the charger is underperforming, the contacts or cable are not making a solid connection (or unable to deliver 800ma of current), or the controller itself is "finicky" as to its power requirements.

Can a standard apple iPad charger work? (5.2V and 2.4A)

JMAN3811 FN No, it will not, as a matter of fact it will damage your controller battery. Use a brick that has 5V as output and the mA/A is over 800.

What would you say about an iPhone charger that says +5V===2.1A
What i am insecure about is the plus sign before the 5V. or should i try to get one that only says 5V?
