some siblings do this. mine didnt, since i usually played with them and i had an old tv in my room i just blew up their stuff on minecraft or killed them in battleblock theater until i died laughing and they started trying to beat me to death with the controller

Yes it is mate... This means you could play sat whilst sat outside somewhere like a park etc... The hotspot comes off your normal mobile data.

This feature is generally really good, but the only issue is the fact that you cannot switch user in remote play. My progress in games is on different users, e.g I’ve finished Battlefront 2 on one user and i started Fallen Order on another, so when I’m away I can’t switch the user
I think u can sign out on one account and sign in from other account and reconnect to the console.

Maybe it's in a newer version of Remote Play, but I only discovered this in 2023, and in the Remote Play settings, you can choose to use Mobile Data which is off by default.

Not needed? Some people won't have wifi in certain places.
There's no reason for setting up remote play on the phone, you just need the hotspot.
I don’t have a second device. My phone is *how* I use Remote Play. Don’t assume that your experience is the only experience. I’m grateful he did the first part, because that’s what I needed.

If you're anywhere that you could be using a laptop for long periods of time to remote play (meaning able to charge it so that you don't play for like 10 minutes before it dies), you should have access to wifi.

I think it should connect as long as you are on the same segment so if you really want to get the best speeds maybe have the ps4 directly connected with cat8 cable and vpn yourself to your home network for maximum speed and reliability.
I'm here from 2022 and the remote play for the PS Vita does not really work that slow as he says it does I'm literally using it with the hori grip and it works amazing I guess it all comes down to Wi-Fi and the settings you have your remote Play device on

Yes but most phone companies only let you do like 1gig of hotspot data and gaming will eat that up real quick. I have AT&T unlimited and that’s the case for me. If they did unlimited hotspot data then no one would buy internet so they phone companies scam us into buying it by not letting us use sufficient hotspot data.

Luckily Sony phones come with this automatically. Able to play Diablo III with no issues as long as WiFi is strong.

How do you leave it in rest mode as I play it, I’ve tried to put it rest mode from the app then I lost connection and everything in the save power setting is enabled and my account is active as a primary.
I am not sure, but you can try connecting to your wifi through ethernet
Putting it in rest mode turns it off. You put it in rest mode when you leave home. And then you can turn it back on remotely with the app.

@@maverick566 to connect remotely away from home you need a third device that can download remote play and you connect it to your Playstation. You get a Hotspot on your phone to connect the third device to and then you can play from anywhere.
