this is one of the most enjoyable BA content I've seen. Thanks for posting, I love how Chris is thinking outside the box to use some leftovers...I'd watch a whole series like this personally
I LOVE chao (congee). I also use rotisserie chicken carcass for my broth and shred the meat to either add back in while cooking or top before eating. I top mine like Chris does with sliced green onions, sliced cilantro, homemade garlic chili oil, etc. (minus the soy sauce as the chao should already be perfectly seasoned)...but I also add a crumbled boiled egg, fried shallots, etc. Some Vietnamese people also squeeze lime and add things like beansprouts to theirs.
I've got a little turn of the season cold, and that congee is calling my name.
Please make more videos like this! Interesting, exciting and useful! I'd watch a ton of these.
Loved the crispy tofu rice salad. More vegetarian dishes or alternative options please 😍😍
Why didn’t he just have the lady make it? This channel is so weird.
Oh hey, that golden fried rice is my girl lunch many a times lol
But breaking the egg in the aromatics well fares easier than the nice way Chris did it 🙈
Finishing it with lemon juice works really well too! (And replacing eggs with crispy peanuts if you want a bit of veggie protein and crunch)
Roasting a whole chicken for dinner and will cook a pot of rice for tomorrow. That Congee looks fabulous and is certainly in my future this weekend! Thanks Chris!
This video is so enjoyable yet we're still learning techniques and I just wanna go cook all these recipes aaah!😊 And so much of Chris's personality and how great of a chef he is shines through! 💯
I was just thinking yesterday that it’s been literally months since we got an actual recipe video
That congee has me drooooooling, can't wait to make it
Back to basics and I couldn’t be happier!!! Test kitchen GOLD!
That congee looks fabulous.
I mean every one of these recipes was just perfect completely achievable with normal ingredients love it
This was, as usual, a really great video, Chris! I'll definitely be making some of these recipes, thank you!
Genius Golden Fried Rice!
We make a similar rice in India, Maharashtra called "Fodnicha bhaat", literally translates to Tadka Rice, I love that Chris made that but with such a great UPGRADE! THANK U
Fantastic! More of this please. This was really helpful and yummy!
omgosh that coconut rice pudding w/ mango looks amazing... lime and vanilla... YUM!
I’ve had most of my stomach removed but the one thing I can eat is rice. Absolutely love your first dish chicken congee and will try the others this week. Thanks heaps.
Love your content chris!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
So excited about the coconut mango rice! Love this pudding but it never struck me that I could do this with leftover rice- thank you for the tutorial!
I think I might actually try to make the golden fried rice and stuffed pepper. They look awesome and not too challenging. Thanks Chris!
If I didn't know any better I'd say Chris Morocco is trying to get Uncle Roger's attention. Uncle Chris does have a nice ring to it.
Love the desert, definately doing it
As a vegetarian. I definitely do not do fish sauce, though there are vegetarian fish sauces on the market. But I guess to each their own.
ahaha literally always so ridiculous when it's like 'yes love this vegetarian dish' and its got oyster sauce or fish sauce in it like bro nooooo
Made me laugh, but also nervous of when ordering out 😬
Was going to say the same thing. “I wanted to keep this vegetarian” *adds fish sauce*
That was my first thought! The dish looked great but I was bummed that he used the fish sauce. He just reinforced a bad practice.
I didn’t think it was literally made of fish but I’m not a chef lol
Was waiting for the chilli crisp to be added to the congee ❤
that congee looks and taste heavenly!
Chris's best video yet
More of these videos PLEASE
Great recipes! Thank you ⭐️
Great ideas! And all the bonus points for the Hunt for Red October quote...
Nice!
Made the golden fried rice, and a success!
I wish I
Could
Find the exact recipes for these!
I love Chris!
Rather than lime, I think I'd go with either calamansi or yuzu for the citrus in the rice pudding.
Amazing idea mixing egg yolks into the rice 🔥
I like it with seafood omg it’s even better then chicken. But awesome never thought of that. I always go with seafood and kimchi
Love you Rocco
Rotisserie chicken skin is the best part
More leftovers content please!
When the Congee hits 😮
The way Chris pronounces “tadka”😭😭😭😭
Morocco is the master!
Grocery store rotisserie chicken is so underrated.
don’t tell me what I’ve got in my fridge, Chris Morocco
Мені спобобався рецепт) дуже смачно виглядає)
Must say as an Asian who serially eats white rice on its own (and occasionally fried rice) I'm enlightened by these ways of cooking with rice lol
take a shot every time chris says aromatic,,,,,,,,,,,enjoy dying
Wow and all gluten-free with out having to think about it
I like how he compared melons to an open mic night.😂
In Bangladesh we call congee "Jao".
Kind of wonder why no one ever crisps up the chicken skin to use like croutons. Bet that would be great on the congee.
i'm planning a vacation with her in january. i know what im making the second night.
cold/lukewarm congee everyone.
its better to use black mustard seeds over yellow mustard seeds in the tadka.
Vegetarian fish sauce Chris?
@chrismorocco not your own recipe for chili crisps?? they are hands-down better than anything that comes in a jar.
Egg. Fry. Rice.
That color after 20 minutes of cooking? Don’t you just love turmeric 😂
its called naem khao! wish he at least mentioned the name / lao influence
Same - this is not a BA creation, it's a traditional Lao dish!
Is this an older video? Chris looks so young here, and I thought I saw Molly in the background a few times.
You forgot Lao Gan Ma
Im going to make one of these dishes
It will give me more energy since I'm breastfeeding.
🍚
🍚 x ❤️
congee with cilantro? no but everything else oh ya.
The tofu is not vegetarian with fish sauce in it...
It’s vegetarian, but not vegan.
@@jemenfous9343 No, vegetarians do not eat the flesh of animals. Thus, by this definition, fish and seafood are not vegetarian and fish sauce is made by fermenting fish itself. Pescatarians can have all fish sauce varieties since they also consume fish.
**Adds fish sauce***
"I like the idea of keeping this vegetarian."
(Love you Chris tho)
Ready for somebody to replace Chris
Would love to see some whole food plant-based recipes
I use to watch bon but now I don't. Chris is the only survivor
Some advice: be careful with food poisoning (bacillus cereus spores) and reheating rice twice !
Uh, sorry, I'm, late
I miss Brad
Brad has his own TH-cam channel. Making" it!
The channel isn’t what it used to be.
It making how quickly a Halloween costume can shut an entire magazine and channel down. Make stupid decisions, pay the price i guess .
The best part about having leftover rice is having to buy $15 worth of other ingredients to use it.
Want to know who else is Thai in here? And what are we thinking about the mango sticky rice 😅?
I think he’s too precise in western cuisine to cook Asian food 😢
Who still watches Bon Appetit videos in 2023 lol
Looks just about yt
Hated him them, hate him more now
“Crispy tofu salad” this is nam khao tod. Show some respect
While all of these looked and surely are delicious... none of these were leftover rice dishes - they were full on regular dishes with (leftover) rice 👀
Topping congee with sesame oil, chili crisp and soy is just too much.
Indeed. Pretty much overwhelms any other flavour in the congee.
I was surprised that Chris, with his super taste buds, would even touch Laoganma chilli crisp. That stuff tastes mass-produced and MSG-infested. Even a small pinch makes a dish tastes wholly of Laoganma.
I’m Thai. I enjoyed the video until the mango sticky rice. Could barely watch it til the end. Every single ingredient and step are off, especially the rice and the mango. The only acceptable thing is the coconut milk. Probably this is another culture’s mango sticky rice…
Actually, I wanna see him re-engineering Thai mango sticky rice 😂
all that racial diversity stuff just to end up making their 4th most likable og bon apetit white guy the new star.
Don't put leftover rice in the fridge. Microwave safe bag it and press out the air, room temperature. Rice ruins in 3 days in the fridge.
Some great stuff, especially the chicken and the pudding!
"I like keeping this vegetarian" *uses fish sauce* 😂
