I love how Chris talks to his kids with a dad tone but it sounds like he's talking to a coworker.
That's probably the best way to talk with your children it'll help them with their speech skills so that they don't "sound" like children when speaking.
I love Chris's dad tone, he's got the balance between "speaking to a child" and "speaking to a person" just right I think. Probably a skill he's honed through working with Brad tbh.

Carla and Cosmo need their own segment lol I love that mother/son dynamic they have.
🎵 Tricky situation 🎵
Chris trying to spin his son hating the grilled cheese into a compliment is me trying to convince my professor that my essay is actually amazing.
Aha! This weakness was actually an ADVANTAGE!
I get what he's trying to say though. A kids palate isnt really set up to like complexity of flavor, mostly just the extremes. A kid wants something really sweet or cheesy, probably not to have a sharp bite of shallot and yeasty sourdough.
Look, it all, 'it depends' if your essay is amazing.
That's how I got an A in that one law class at least....
@@joeldykman7591 That too, but also kids generally have a much more powerful sense of smell & taste. So while a bit of shallot would taste pleasantly onion-y to us, it probably would be overwhelming to a kid. This is why kids generally prefer "bland" foods.
Or 100,000 deathe is a big win.
Chris basically calling his kid a simpleton for not liking his elaborate cheese and bread is honestly exactly what I want to be as a parent LMAO. Hilarious.
@anth18 How'd you come to that conclusion off of a joke?
@anth18 lol. Aren't you just the most delicate thing. Everyone nowadays acting like kids need to be treated like sorts of deities, never to be disrespected even in the slightest. I find it nauseating and hilarious all at once.
@anth18 his kid wasn't in the room when he said that part and he was just referring to all kids not having a refined taste. its a joke and he was definitely not shaming him
@anth18 It was commentary on a child's opinion of a sandwich. I hardly think it was that serious of a situation. Children prefer blander food, it's a fact. Chris just said this jokingly.
@anth18 How is it being a bad parent for acknowledging the fact that children have less complex palates and typically don't like things like sourdough/shallots. If anything it shows he understands this and still respects his child's taste, as he let him spit it out without being offended.

Chris’s little boy gagging being proof that the grilled cheese is good was genius! 😂 I’ve never heard a more accurate argument in my life. And I have toddlers.
I've heard that it's an evolutionary trait that helps us survive - little kids don't like bitter foods because that indicates poisonous foods. Just a very small dose can make them sick, so they avoid anything thing that has a "complex" flavor until they're older.
If gagging means it tastes good I must be doing a few things right 😉😉
I loved that Chris didn't make a big deal out of it! There are some things kids just are never going to like.
The kid has his supertaster abilities and could detect the shallot 😅

I was also expecting this and also Molly kind of but I did think she was going to cut diagonally... it was a nice surprise...

Delaney making a grilled cheese: "Now, I know you don't normally THINK of a cocktail as a grilled cheese, but it has all the components. horizontal cut people: I think of myself as above the average person
Claire also burned her sandwich and called it "deep golden brown" I dont think she cared this video haha
What seems missed in this study is a standard bread type/shape. I think there is a greater tendency for square shapes slices to be cut on a diagonal versus more oblong slices that tend to be cut horizontally.
"Claire's took half an hour."

Chris: "If you're gonna be crazy, you won't be invited in the video. And this is a grilled cheese video, this is the kinda video you wanna be a part of. Trust me."
Plot twist, his son didn't like the grilled cheese
"I think, frankly, the secret to a really good grilled cheese is just a lot of cheese. I think, most of the time, we're just not using enough cheese." Truer words have never been spoken.
I make my grilled cheese entirely out of cheese and it's still not enough......
