Ian Moss aka Mossy can siiiinnnnggggg! He brings the blues sultry sound, and Jimmy Barnes, the soul, rock and higher melody. He is a wizard as a guitarist. We’ve always known it and love it 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 He was the original lead singer prior to Jimmy joining Chisel. It was Ian who asked to bring a singer on board. He does sing lead in quite a lot of songs, including Saturday night, Janelle, Bow River, When the War is Over, and My Baby. The harmonies with Jimmy take it all to another level. ❤
It's hard to imagine this is not sung by a very patriotic and severely homesick Georgia native. Ian Moss sings this so passionately. Great work. Keep reacting to Cold Chisel, you won't be disappointed ever.
Thank you guys. And just as a flex, last night I bought front of stage tickets to see Chisel live in Queenstown, New Zealand (a stunning part of the world). Celebrating their 50th anniversary. Too excited!
Don Walker is one of the greatest songwriters ever in my opinion. He is the keyboard player but also wrote most of their songs. It's amazing how a band can have a songwriter that creates so many hits in his own country, but doesn't really go world wide.
Jimmy Barnes is amazing, absolutely incredible, but Ian Moss has always been my special someone in Cold Chisel and beyond. He has it all and then some, so underrated it's a crime.
It's funny, there's talk of Barnsie being one of the best singers in the world - and then there's talk of Barnsie not even being the best singer in his own band. Lots of people do prefer Mossy's voice. 😄
Ian Moss comes from a small town right in the middle of Australia's arid 'Red Centre', but with so much soul, you'd think he came from Georgia itself. A true Aussie legend 🤩
I saw this live in the 80's - taken me to be in my 50's to realise that I was actually watching a legendary performance. Ian Moss is an Australian legand.
Yeah...here in Oz.. we like our home grown talent !! Mossy...a frigging legend...That voice...would melt glass !! LOL'''. keep up the good work guys !!
I went to that Last Stand concert in Melbourne at the old Sports and Entertainment Centre which is gone now. Saw Queen there (best concert ever) in 85 and Simple Minds in 84 (brilliant). Sad that that place is gone.
The ' IT '' is the outstanding, interpretive expression that the wonderful Ian Moss brings to the story and his vocal ability of this song plus his amazing guitar playing.
Beautiful performance by Ian. But how wonderful is Don Walkers piano?? He is the unsung hero of the band. Wrote most of their songs, was such a critical element of it all, but happy to sit back and let Jimmy and Ian take the glory they so richly deserved. But he’s a legend in his own right.
Agree. Don Walker and Ian Moss define linking musically to the highest level ❤ This performance was something magic like Freddie Mercury and Brian May. Chisel was the mountain top of music gods - everyone of them.
My son, 22, inherited his primary guitar (he has about 20) from his teacher/mentor, who in about 1980 lent it to Mossy for a couple of gigs. That's one special guitar.
I feel so lucky to have tickets to their 50th anniversary concert in Newcastle in November. Will be my wife's 1st time seeing them. She has seen Jimmy on his Soul Deep shows but never Chisel.
When all of the lads in the band are working class from a car factory town, the heart, soul, grit and feeling just come natural. And Ian can play a blues guitar just fine.
Ian Moss was in my local bar last night having a beer before hopping on a flight to the UK to play some shows before the Cold Chisel 50th anniversary tour !!
It really makes you wonder what is out there in the world that is largely undiscovered. This is largely unknown yet has to be one of the greatest rock performances ever!
Ahh it’s my new mate Jimmy K! Great request Jimmy, I hope you’ve also seen my remaster of Ian singing Cry Me a River at Ringside. It’s absolutely mesmerising. See you for Origin 3 😉 ❤
This was from a generation of some of the most legendary Musicians and Singers. These men and women knew how to sing in the real sense. They understood inflection and emotion and how to convey that to the crowd. They honed and perfected it in the most brutally difficult bars, taverns and halls from the dark side of town where the roughest, toughest men and women plied their recreation time.
There are some concerts that remain with you for life. This was one such concert and Mossy killed it. Cold Chisel's last stand was an experience I will cherish to the grave.
Thank you guys. I needed this. I first heard this on a live album Chisel made where they did a concert under the name of The Barking Spiders because they wanted to test out some new material - so the story goes. So imagine the surprise the punters got on that night when they rocked up to hear this unknown band and ended up watching Cold fracking Chisel for free, playing some oroginal songs no-one had heard before. Aaahhh ... wish I'd been there. Anyway, cheers from the land Downundah, mate. \m/ 0_o \m/
The more I see you two doing Aussie music reactions the more I think you two would fit right in here in Australia. So, keep up your great work gang and hurry up and come here. You will love this safe and peaceful place. Now just watch the first episode of the Bush Tucker man and see what Australia really looks like away from the cities. Try and not get hooked like many of us did in the 80s.
Best version EVAH..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mossy is the BEST rock/blues guitarist in Aussie Has been for the past 50 years and still going strong to this day... Even better...........
Why weren't Cold Chisel world famous? They had 2 great lead singers, everyone could write a song and they were great musicians. Ultimately they self destructed in the end.
They were rejected in the 80s by US record labels because their music was considered 'too black'. In total disgust, Jimmy Barnes pulled their US tour. Cold Chisel were ahead of their time. Australia was 20 years ahead of the US at the time in cultural equality.
@@michaellincoln3739 That's nonsense they were signed by Elektra who released East in the US, they spent a sum total of 5 and a half weeks touring over there in their prime, as Don Walker says now they should've spent a year there.
@@absinthedream9668yes this is the reality. They admit they weren't up for the extended touring that was needed and packed up and came home early. Something they do regret now
Yes and that was an issue. The record label presenting a record wrapped in a nappy showed they had no idea about the band (promoting My Baby as the first single) but they themselves admitted they just didn't want to put the effort in to succeed over there
Another song by Ian Moss-who recorded as a solo artist is called red sand-it is absolutely brilliant-has someone has already mentioned he came from the centre of Australia-he was born with redfern in his veins!.
I think this is my favourite cover of Georgia. Even better than that of my favourite singer of all time, John Farnhams cover. Which is saying a lot cos John totally slays Georgia. Ian's version is so laid back and cool and killer guitar . John on the other hand takes the vocals to places you would stuggle to imagine. Some crazy high notes and the power in his voice as always ❤. Maybe you could also check John's cover out as well
currently on their 50yr celebration tour...all concerts sold out in ridiculous quick time...and not only are they killing it with those of us who were with them back them and in our 20s but have gathered gazillions of others along the way...
This is why they are such a great band. With Jimmy on lead vocals, followed by Ian Moss on lead guitar with the talent he has there, but is also an amazing singer, to the point that he rivals the bands lead singer, you know good things are going to happen. No disrespect to the rest of the band. I love all of them but you could put Jimmy and Ian in any band and they'd be a hit.
Went to a concert at a winery locally (South Australia) Rod Stewart under the vines, Ian was the artist who came on before Rod, he blew Rod out the water, could have walked away from the concert after his performance and would have been more than happy. Listening to Rod after was a huge let down.
Was going to ask/check if you’ve done Tucker’s Daughter yet - such a banger of a song, his voice is so iconic on that, can’t help but bop and smile every time you hear it! There’s better songs and performances of his I think but it should still be appreciated 😀
Mossy, what a legend he is!!!
Fuck yes! A mate of mine has a Maton acoustic guitar signed by him!!
Ian always had IT, and still does.

Plus you guys have reacted to Tuckers Daughter as well. He is pretty awesome....Saturday Night and Bow River!!!!
Cold chisel would not be cold chisel without both of them. The best band in the world with 2 singers. Love it.
The best version ever! Ian Moss is a musical genius...props too to Don for his piano playing.
It's hard to imagine this is not sung by a very patriotic and severely homesick Georgia native. Ian Moss sings this so passionately. Great work. Keep reacting to Cold Chisel, you won't be disappointed ever.
Well said.

Two songs Ian sings that stir my spirits....This song and Tuckers Daughter....he is brilliant....

Ian Moss has a gift that kept Aussies Entertained. I can't believe that the USA are only discovering now. Welcome to Aussie Pub Rock.
Ian Moss comes from a small town right in the middle of Australia's arid 'Red Centre', but with so much soul, you'd think he came from Georgia itself. A true Aussie legend 🤩

It was an awesome night in Sydney.
This is my favourite performance not just from Chisel but from anyone. So happy to see you react to it.
I love this version of this song. It's just so soulful, from the arrangement/guitar and the passion in the singing. Blues!
Thanks for doing cold chisel.. they made me a happy teenager
Saw Mossy recently in acoustic concert. This was the encore 🎉🎉 still got it ❤
Amazing cover of an amazing song by one of Australias best. Cant ask for much more than that.
Yeah...here in Oz.. we like our home grown talent !! Mossy...a frigging legend...That voice...would melt glass !!

This was easily the best concert I've ever been to, also the saddest as it was their last concert.
I went to that Last Stand concert in Melbourne at the old Sports and Entertainment Centre which is gone now. Saw Queen there (best concert ever) in 85 and Simple Minds in 84 (brilliant). Sad that that place is gone.
@karenglenn6707 yeah I was at the Horden Pavilion one in Sydney.
I saw Mossy do this live at a Chisel concert, lights were out except for a spot light on him - his performance was so soulful and captivating.
One of the reasons Chisel are so special. That sexy mixture of Ian and Jimmy, with these amazing songs
Your expressions were classic! Gotta love Ian Moss at his best. The man's brilliant. We love Mossy!
Mossy is a King, as is Jimmy. Saw the boys that summer night in ‘83. The best! Cannot wait to see them at the end of 2024….
WOW ❤
Just, WOW!

I also liked their cover of "Knockin' on Heavens Door" it's certainly worth a listen if'n you like old standards.

Exquisite. Did you ever hear Steve Winwood sing this classic? Also, The Peddlers.
wow....thats close to THE perfect live performance of all time - up with elvis LIVE "if i can dream " for emotional impact and feeling
Always look forward to your Chisel / Jimmy reactions
Mossy's 8th solo album 'River Runs Dry' is great too. Check out the single/video of 'Nullarbor Plain', it's an absolute banger of a cruising song.
looking back at all my fav Chisel songs, there all the one's Mossy sings... just sayin'
I heard Cold Chisel is going to do a 50th anniversary concert/tour in October.

Jimmy took a bathroom break, so Mossy filled in, epically.
