Don't forget to turn on English subtitles! Lyrics are very important to BTS when they write their own songs (99% of discography; only Dynamite and Butter, the all-English songs, don't have lyrics written by BTS for obvious reasons)

If you want an exciting, cinematic 'wow' experience, then might I suggest Daechwita by Agust D - BTS' Suga's alter ego. There's a story being told, and CC is strongly recommended, but Suga's flow, and change of flow, not to mention the great beat, make it one of only a few rap songs (all by BTS) that I actually like. Loved this reaction. I could tell you were enjoying it 💜

I can tell you're going to love the wordplay in their lyrics, too. RM loves a multilingual pun, they switch languages for the rhyme sometimes, it's really great.
Also, each of the three rappers has solo work, and they have really distinct styles. I personally connect with Suga the most but they're all brilliant.

Great reaction! There’s a lot of rap and hip hop in their discography! And the flow and wordplay is next level! 🔥🔥🔥 everyone is mentioning this; the closed captions are usually pretty good on the official music videos! There might be some cultural references that fly over your head in the beginning but we, ARMY, are here to back you up on that!
I strongly recommend watching their group stuff first to get a feel, but then all the guys have their own solo ventures ( J-Hope, one of the rappers, being the most recent to release a solo album. Oh yeah and headlining Lollapalooza with an hour long show in Korean with 105.000+ attendees! Me being one of them, flew all the way from Sweden for it!) I think you would love his set! If you don’t react to it I strongly suggest you watch it in your own time. He honestly made history with that show!

All three rappers are pretty unique in their delivery. In BTS discography there are plenty of subunit or solo songs, so for the rap line I would recommend ARMYs favourite Outro: Tear live in Wembley. The English subtitles will be embedded. Their live performances are always better than studio versions. They have this insane stage presence both solo or subunits or as a whole group. Enjoy your journey! There are no bad songs in their very diverse discography or solo projects, by the way. 💜💜💜

Great reaction, I love to see people getting surprised when they realize that BTS is so much more than the expected pop/boyband stuff.
There’s 3 rappers and 4 vocalists in the group. JHope is the rapper that started the song, he’s also the one that just performed an epic solo concert in Lollapalooza, he can do vocals too and has profissional dancing skills.
The second rapper is Suga, he’s the most badass and aggressive rapper, awarded producer, famous for how fast he does it. When the time comes, you’ll be blown away by his solo stuff, Daechwita being his most famous song, with a fantastic MV. The rapper that comes out of the ambulance is RM, the leader of the group, very involved in the writing and producing, he has super high IQ and you can see it coming across his fantastic wordplay in the songs. Dope is another song that you’ll enjoy and that has a mix of singing and rapping. If you’re curious for a rap line song, check out a live performance of Outro:Tear, the one in Wimbledon is amazing.

As many have noted lyrics are key in BTS, also knowing their backstory the lyrics take on much more meaning as well. Would highly recommend Taylor Nakamoto's introduction to the members of BTS for more context to their music.

Thanks for your reaction! Dynamite and most of their english songs really don't reflect what BTS is about... They were originally a hip hop group, so that's really where their roots are and then they branch out quite a lot!
Honestly not 2 songs are the same, Mic Drop is one of their classic and pretty good but wouldn't necessarily say it's my personal fav... They have an infinite catalogue as a group but are also amazing in their solos (more raw and transparent)! So let us know what side of them you would like to see and the ARMY can guide you through this BTS maze!
I have 2 suggestions for you:
*visually and musically another interesting big one to check out could be Black Swan (quite different again in genre)
*If you want to get a general idea of their sound and evolution you can check BTS Room Live Festa 2021: in about 10 minutes they do a succession of songs in chronological order of release so you have a glimpse of their musical evolution and of the array of genres they cover!

You can turn on CCs- their official videos have'em. They are decent for getting the gist. For better translation plus some context you can go to doolset (there are others, but this is one that's consistently reliable) . BTW, it's 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, but some of the members can do both. There are rapline and rap solo songs that go much harder than this, and do not have official MVs, so you will need to look up lyrics or rely on fan made lyric videos of varying quality. If you ask for song recommendations, you will be inundated, Have fun.

Oh....there is so many good rap/hiphop/trap from BTS. They started out as a hiphop group...they are very grounded in that. And they are insanely good! Use Caption thou - the lyrics is important...and meaningful!

Be sure to put CC on with English subtitles. They are available on all but their oldest Music Videos. :) It helps to know what they are saying. Basically, this was a diss song to their haters that they put up with a Lot over the years, and still do sometimes. It's 3 rappers and 4 vocalists; however, each can do Some of the other if that makes sense. Answering your question - I can't pick a "favorite" as I have too many favorites. You may also enjoy the MV's for Fire, Dope and Not Today...but there are so many others to enjoy also. Too many to list here.

Loved hearing your thoughts on Mic Drop! I especially appreciated your comments on recognizing talent even if a song isn't your preferred style. I've seen so many reactors make really disrespectful remarks about BTS specifically, because they're a "boyband" (debatable) and their fans are all "crazy teen girls" (simply untrue and hurtful to actual teen girls). It's always refreshing when I stumble across someone who is actually willing to experience something with an open mind, even if it's not their usual style. Thank you so much for giving BTS a chance! I'm a person who is often moved by music and BTS music in particular has been a huge comfort and inspiration to me.
Anyways, I would love to see you react to BTS Room Live, which is a medley of some of their b sides. Also Singularity, which is on a BTS album but is only sung by V (BTS albums often feature each of the members on a solo song). Make sure you turn on your subtitles because most BTS lyrics are sooo good. There are often hidden meanings in the lyrics and mvs, so we Armys (BTS fans) tend to make a lot of theories. 😅 If you come across any translations that seem questionable, I recommend the website doolset, which is English speaking Armys' most trusted source for translations and also includes notes on Korean culture references that don't translate well. I already saw many rappers fall in love for him haha. They say he knows how to transit around many kinds of flows, and I already saw some dudes who knows rap saying they already heard J-Hope do all the kinds of flows they know. The amazing thing is that J-Hope never had worked with rap before the group! He started practicing with the other two rappers of the group, Suga and RM and now this is just one more talent around the many he has! He's perfect at dancing too. The dance leader ❤️

I'm old but I'm okay with that; the only time I ever wish I was younger is when I hear a BTS song. The energy these guys have is phenomenal! I don't have anywhere near the energy to keep up with their music though my heart just revs up wanting to dance whenever I hear them. Every time one sees BTS, they are blown away, no matter who they are or what type of music they like.

@@amberpearce710 actually the first time I watched No more Dream and Airplane pt. 2 there were no subtitles, but I rewatched them recently and the subtitles were there. I think HYBE went back and subtitled the ones that didn’t have any. I’m not sure if the RM solos have subtitles or not.
This was one of their most popular songs in 2018-19 and hooked a lot of ARMYs, myself included. ;) I think understanding their fans is also important. Check out fans pre-concert sing a long while they are watching Mic Drop.

glad to see you checking out BTS. they are incredibly diverse in terms of genre. and one of the reason why they are so beloved is because of their positive and deep messaging (which you'll discover if you continue to dive into the rabbit hole) regarding mental health, self love, societal issues, etc.
there is so much to check out but i would next recommend on (kinetic manifesto), black swan, dope, fire, not today, or fake love (if you want to see another genre). and yes, subtitles! you can get the general gist even tho translations aren't perfect. thanks for giving our guys a shot! i'm a 34 year old who just got into them two years ago and am now for life.
Actually it's coming out thru little interstitial comments from various members that the BTS guys themselves felt like they'd lost the thread with the Dynamite era--it made some of them really wonder what they were doing with their lives, through PTD, which is what led to their 'offseason' (which is hardly an offseason--they're all crazy busy)...so you're dead on wrt feeling they were putting more energy into this mode. This is MUCH closer to their hearts, as I understand it. Watch the SNL tiny stage version of this too--it kills in its own way.

This song is one of several responses to haters who dissed BTS and especially the rappers in their earlier days, when they had no money and no influence. They were openly dissed to their faces in public, yet, despite their youth at the time, they were incredibly dignified and mature to the dissers. Those guys have all apologised since then, but the main, most abusive and bullying one, well, they have never acknowledged any of his several overtures since. The abuse and hate has continued ever since usually from either other fandoms or people who have an axe to grind It is suspected that much is orchestrated by the big 3 Kpop companies: BigHit was a tiny company with no funds and no influence, deliberately doing things differently. Huge efforts were made to undermine them, but somehow ... did not work. Thank goodness.
BTS never gets personal though, and somehow keep incredibly positive. This is one of their most direct lyrics, and yet, while calling people out, and forcefully expressing real anger, it's never rude.
I strongly recommend that you look into the lyrics. What BTS has to say is important, often poetic and often very uplifting and touching. There are subtitles on the official MVs and you can also use translations - I like doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com which also provides brief notes on any wordplay or cultural references (there are quite a few).

BTS are the best! Vocals, dancing, song writing.... they are the best at whatever they do. you never get bored of listening to their songs and you never get bored of watching their video clips. It is no coincidence that they have broken so many records and that they have so many fans around the world!

After you get to know them a little bit better you need to watch them live. They have great music and they are are one of the few groups/acts that excel when performing live. Jhope just performed at Lollapalooza and as one of the headliners outsold and outperformed everyone. I enjoyed your reaction. I heard Butter on a Samsung commercial and I was curious, so I found the video. Dynamite auto played next and I thought, okay, a boy band, not really my thing. Mic Drop started to play next and I don't remember anything after that. I'm a 62 year old, heavy metal head but have listened to BTS exclusively for the last year. This is one of their best. They are just badass all around. BtS is Versatile, talented, hard working, classy, and genuine. The lyrics are meaningful to why this came out. They were unminded and underestimated and winning awards that weren't expected and Society didn't believe they should have won them...so this was their Mic drop showing they have it in the bag. They are truly a great group.

This song was towards there haters and try to focus on what there saying bc they always put in English lyrics and they remixed this so there haters can understand bc they added more English lyrics it’s hard to hear sometimes but just pay attention but there dancing is amazing I recommend you react to black swan it has a contemporary feel one of the members have experience in contemporary he has blue hair in the mv also there lyrics are one of the most important parts of there music but I would put this song top 10 I’m not really into rap but bts made me appreciate it and like it more
