ToneyReactions this is Lonn but please read this to understand their lyrics: the first part you got it wrong , it's well translated. Actually they put a explanation of what the first rapper was referring ( it said shi*ty background). People that don't lived in SK don't tend to understand and misinterpret what jhope ( the first rapper ) meant. He was referring what the Korean society said about people backgrounds , if you came from a good background ( family with money , have privilege, good mannered , connections, well behave citizen , etc ) you will have opportunities in life aka you will find sooner or later success, this people are called "silvers spoon" , meanwhile people with bad backgrounds ( came from poor family , bad mannered , went into jail , did ilegal stuff , don't have money , bad behave citizen , does bad in school , don't have connections, etc ) won't have opportunities in life , it doesn't matter how much they tried they will never be a silver spoon , they are called "dirty spoon ". BtS were called "dirty spoon" on their beginnings cuz they came from a small company that almost went bankrupt and have no connections in the media , so no exposure in Korean audience ( that's why they became popular in social media cuz they use them as their only platform to show themselves, that's why they got a lot of fans overseas and were known more overseas than in their own country , in their beginning) , groups that debut on those type of agencies don't make it , or not last long enough to even make it cuz their companies get into debts cuz they don't get money from sales since they don't tend to have much fans cuz they have low exposure. BtS has literally done a song about it called "silver spoon" or bapsade " ( that how you say dirty spoon in Korean) were they referenced them as that but it's more about the generation since the older generation in SK got more jobs that today generation cuz there is a lot of people in a small country. But in mic drop jhope references to that issue when the media called them dirty spoon , so here he said that he is a golden spoon ( like even better that those so called silver spoon ) and at the end he eat them all with his skills , meaning that what make him big are his skill not his background and even beat people with better backgrounds. BtS references to this A LOT in their songs specially after they were called like that. In the song Fire they said that people aren't spoons they are just people and they are just tying to live their lives ( that song is about the "freedom of the youth " with references from the SK system is with the younger people ( teens and young adults ). They talks about this cuz they got into the same issues and not one can say they were lazy at school that's why they criticized it cuz RM ( the leader ) was basically the best , he can literally study in the best universities what ever he wanted. But his passion were in music , in writing music that started with hip hop. Anyway I recommend to understand their background to watch "the rising of Bangtan " docuseries on TH-cam. It give you the context cuz again context on their lives makes you understand their music. It's literally their story.

I found BTS in 2013 and fell in love with them in 2014. They are insanely talented and just down-to-earth GOOD people. I’m a huge rap fan myself... grew up with Em, Pac, Big, TI, OutKast... list goes on! I’m 43 years old and found BTS this time last year and went down the ENTIRE rabbit hole!! They are UNBELIEVABLY TALENTED!! They make music in all genre’s and it’s all 🔥! You know what else I love about them, they all have solo projects on the side, so they can share their own unique music without stepping away from the group! It’s seems like here in the US when that 1 “star” in the group (Beyoncé, JT, MJ) got too big, they left the group! This group stays together and their label allows them to put out solo music as well! I think that’s genius! You gained a sub... I can’t wait to watch you on your journey to becoming Army! I’m truly an OT7, but my bias is Jimin, who I’m sure is the one you called a girl in the Dynamite vid... I’ll have to watch it! He is a phenomenal vocalist and an inspirational, incredible dancer! He reminds me of MJ a lot! They are all so amazing and more importantly, down to earth, regular people! But they stand for something... to be kind, don’t discriminate, follow your dreams, and above all... love yourself! I don’t know anyone who couldn’t get behind that! ✌🏼💜

The thing with BTS is, the members are completely different from each other and each of them could easily be a solo artist (they actually also do their own stuff). Them together in one group brings a lot of diversity and a lot of different music types. Therefore they literally could/can do anything. Like my name says they work together as a team and adjust to each other, which makes them very special

@@ToneyReactions And to give you a little more perspective into that, “Butter” is Korean slang for “too white/too westernised”. In English we also have words like “cheesy/corny”
I’ve heard it comes from the fact that westerners use a lot more grease on their food than in Asian cuisine
For example when a Korean-American has bad pronounciation when speaking Korean, they’d say like “oh your pronounciation is so butter”. BTS has gotten criticism for their english single, people were saying they’d traded their Koreanness/ authenticity for fame in the global market (which makes no sense, as technically the album Dynamite is from, wasn’t even meant to be released, it was because of COVID.)
So I’m definitely getting a sarcastic, f you vibe from the title “Butter”, as in “lmao we aint westernized, we just versatile”

One of the things I love about K-Pop generally is their willingness to embrace a wide variety of influences and cross genres. Okay, I'm watching these in the order of your posting them because I enjoy seeing the progression of new ARMYs understanding (currently have 8 BTS-related to watch after this). I am also new ARMY and really enjoy sharing the experience of "discovering" them over and over again. *I agree with another commenter that this is my favorite reaction to the Mic Drop remix.* I also am feeling inspired to claim Mic Drop remix as my favorite BTS song - because it is and always was - but I know that will change as soon as I listen to the next one (I've heard pretty much all of them now on Spotify and Soundcloud, and my favorite BTS song is like my bias BTS member - a "revolving door"!).
This Remix collab with Steve Aoki has some changed lyrics from their original version and includes more English and a California infuence (note the use of "hella"). I see from the list of reactions that you've found DKDKTV. I would also recommend Doolset Lyrics on WordPress if you haven't checked them out yet. Like the DKDKTV Explained videos, they not only translate the lyrics but provide background on any references that would not be obvious to non-South Koreans -- cultural, historical or from literature or other songs. These also differ from reading the video subs in the MVs in that there is no need to keep it short, so the emphasis is on true understanding and pointing out possible double or even triple meanings. I think from the way you broke down what you were reading that you would really enjoy wrapping your mind around the many possible interpretations.
*"We saw you. We addressed you. And now we done with you."* -- Loved that!
I was never into boy bands, never into rap, and never into Kpop, (though I do enjoy Kdrama) -- but I am fully into Bangtan Sonyeondan, and so is my nearly octogenarian mom (who does have a bias: SUGA!). A different r n b/ hip hop vibe is the live versions of some of their earliest songs. “No more drama”, “one fine day” and “I like it”. It’s a weekend summery vibe. But no subtitles though. Look for bts armypedia. I think you will like it

@@ToneyReactions yeah I’m a dad of two teenage girls and about 3 1/2 years ago there were no KPOP in the house until the older girl went to high school and then that was when I was introduced to KPOP. The two girls have their favourite groups besides BTS and both can play the piano by ear. So this TH-cam handle is just me looking out for my younger girl. But I’m a music fan / dad turning 50 this year and BTS churn out some great tunes. And yes we don’t speak the language even though we are Asians.

Speaking of boybands, the Jonas Bros went to BTS' Rose Bowl concert right after meeting them at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. And Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men also attended Rose Bowl then posted a cover of Jimin's (the one you thought was a she) song Serendipity. You can see it on YT.

Like many others I was introduced to kpop via my daughter but omg it's so good. Like mixing the best of the old boy bands with hip-hop and rap with Step Up dancing..all at the same time. Welcome and be prepared to be amazed. There are so many great songs among many groups. My recommends are..and I'm sure I'm missing a ton - I'm only 6 months into it!
    Agust D & RM's solo rap stuff
Stray Kids - God's Menu, District 9, Side Effects, Back Door
    NCT U - 7th Sense
NCT 127 - Simon Says, Cherry Bomb, Make A Wish
    SuperM - Jopping
Taemin (he's called the Korean MJ) - Move, Criminal
Got7 - You Calling My Name, Not By The Moon, Breath
Blackpink (girl group) - Ddu Du Ddu Du, How You Like That, Whistle, Boombayah

The one that you said is "clearly a rapper", his name is RM. He has his own rap song called "Joke", he does like 7 types of flow in it, it's pretty insane. You can watch the music video and the lyric video for it. He did the song in response to the people saying he had no flow or whatever, and it's also partly making fun of the rappers who just put in nonsensical words, mumble-rappers and such.
the 3 rappers of BTS also have their own songs they do together. Check out the lyric video to "Outro: Tear". The live version they performed at Wembley in England is really good too. (edit: oh I just saw you already reacted to their Outro Tear performance lol, nevermind)

The first block of this lyric done by J-Hope is about people that come from "Dirty Spoons" - Poor People and "Golden Spoon" - Rich People, their is a Korean saying "As it ripens the rice lowers its head" meaning the more noble the more humble. About the steak, well here J-Hope said stekki which is a cute way to say steak but it sounds like "sekki" which is a parents way to say baby, childish, immature so what JHope is referring to here when he says he has to chew steak is that he has to "deal, dis, chew up" - (chew) immature people, jerks, arrogant people who think that BTS are dirty spoons and they are golden spoons. In reality BTS are now what is refered to in Korea as Diamond Spoons since they are Multi Millionaires. Actually BTS started as a Hip Hop group and other hip underground hated them because they had singers in their group. Said they were just some boy banders that is why ARMY is so sentive to the moniker.

If Dynamite was the only thing you had seen, it is understandable that you might think "Boyband", especially since it was so heavily influenced by MJ and had a very Jackson 5 feel to it. Please forgive some of the more "enthusiastic" ARMYs. They spent years defending BTS from all the crap the world threw at them and forget that it's not always hate-driven when people are new to this world. I'll apologize in behalf of the rude ones and just say Welcome to a new world.
