One of his biggest beefs was her going to Shep Pettibone for remixing his songs. And it's a real shame; her best work was with him. I think I tuned out on Madonna after "I'm Breathless" and "Vogue." Almost every song on "Erotica" had the same "Vogue" beat that had been recycled for the "Like a Prayer" and "Express Yourself" remixes. And I haven't been impressed by much since, especially not her new stuff.

This is probably one of my very favorite movies of all time. Based off a true story. Sean Penn and Christopher Walken together is pure cinematic genius. I love the score.
In the 90s, I saw this movie when I was 19 years old. His music pierced my spirit, reached my heart. A part of me felt the nostalgia for the good times that listening to this soundtrack inspires. Living good moments, I heard a voice that told me "Everything happens", and knowing that youth would pass, I thanked God for each day. Today I am not young anymore and this song takes me back to the moments when everything seemed to make sense.

Just the whole vibe between the two. If I hear the song, I think about the movie. If I watch the movie, the song is completely interwoven throughout, maybe only one or two other songs in the movie are both part of a scene, like heard from a radio. I grew up about an hour from where the true story happened. I think it was filmed in Kentucky but the rural aspect was spot on. Both the song and the movie are nostalgic. I remember the whole prison escape thing back in the 2000s.

Great soundtrack, it's really haunting, you can feel the tension and the sadness. It truly reflects the mood of this dark movie. I do hope that Patrick and Madonna get together again to work on new music because they did magic in the 80's 😍
Watched this film for the first time last night. You just know how good a film will be when the music sets the tone like this amazing piece by Patrick Leonard, absolutely covers all of the emotional spectrum from start to finish. I suppose Madonna's Live to Tell reminds me of my 80's growing up and when I got my first car, it was a great tune to listen to whilst driving at night with clear sky and bright stars. I just can't believe how long it has taken me to come across this film despite me being a self described 'film buff'! It was worth the wait though.

With the helicopter landing outside the courthouse, all the armed guards/police officers on the roofs surrounding it & Chris Walken/Sean Penn being led inside the courthouse. The sad, dark, mysterious music, empty stares & cool winds of the fall. What A MISERY! What A GEM! THE BEST 1980's movie I have ever seen! Along with "First Blood" (1982).
Mr. Blackwell , and the way the mom, grandmother, and kiefer Sutherland all stare at him with that look of anger and defeat matches the score so perfectly.
Not to mention, Sean Penn's final line in the movie, in the courtroom, on the stand..."He's my father". Then this song kicks in with the closing credits. Powerful scene.

I feel especially close to it because I live approx.20 miles from where it was filmed( most of it anyways) in Franklin,TN.I have heard so many people bash this movie...but they only view it as another late night rerun.They don't even try to interpret it,understand it or get the meaning! I have been lucky enough to actually meet Crispin Glover (Lucas) on TWO occasions! That was a real treat! I actually mentioned "At Close Range" to him and he studied for a moment,as if searching his memory,and looked up and smiled and replied "Yeah,we filmed that near here".A treasure...And this song? PERFECT....for this movie.As the lyrics imply it "Tells The Tale"......

Robert deniro turned down the walken role because he said it was to dark . He was right there was no soul in that character and you had no sympathy for him .This was an awesome movie and beutiful and haunting love it!
+Scott Leoski The character Robert played in Taxi Driver had redeeming qualities even though he had issues, he just wanted to be productive and find his place in the world who drifted into madness as opposed to this guy who was a con man, thief, and murderer. He was just bad to the bone.
Yea, but you saw his descent into it. Deniro as an actor wanted to bear witness to that without judging Bickle or his outcome so he could play it as if unexpected. DeNiro never tries to be smarter than his characters. He could have played the dad. It was the money and script revisions that was it.
Good point. Marty Scorsese always said that about Deniro--he looks for redemption in what others deem the worst people--those who fail to create natural relationships with their fellow man and are thereby dismissed.
When I was in high school, I thought (as many have) I was hot because I had the hot HS band. I worked after school in a clothing store, and one day this "young kid" came in, introduced himself as Pat Leonard and wanted to know if he could try out for the band. Being the magnanimous person I was, I told the "kid" that he could and I agreed to go to his house to hear him play. When I arrived, he asked me what I wanted him to do. Just "Do your thing" (how hip was THAT? Well, Pat began with some Mozart, went right into boogie woogie followed up by every genre of music one could imagine. I realized that he was WAY, WAY above my pay scale. I walked away saying to myself... This "kid" is a wizard. He was a wizard then at all of MAYBE fifteen.

His character in this movie was plain evil to kill your own son,I mean how could you do this to your own blood

Robert deniro turned down the walken role because he said it was to dark . He was right there was no soul in that character and you had no sympathy for him .This was an awesome movie and beutiful and haunting love it!
+Scott Leoski The character Robert played in Taxi Driver had redeeming qualities even though he had issues, he just wanted to be productive and find his place in the world who drifted into madness as opposed to this guy who was a con man, thief, and murderer. He was just bad to the bone.
Yea, but you saw his descent into it. Deniro as an actor wanted to bear witness to that without judging Bickle or his outcome so he could play it as if unexpected. DeNiro never tries to be smarter than his characters. He could have played the dad. It was the money and script revisions that was it.
Good point. Marty Scorsese always said that about Deniro--he looks for redemption in what others deem the worst people--those who fail to create natural relationships with their fellow man and are thereby dismissed.
Interesting, I could see Al Pacino, or even James Caan play the father.

When I was in high school, I thought (as many have) I was hot because I had the hot HS band. I worked after school in a clothing store, and one day this "young kid" came in, introduced himself as Pat Leonard and wanted to know if he could try out for the band. Being the magnanimous person I was, I told the "kid" that he could and I agreed to go to his house to hear him play.
When I arrived, he asked me what I wanted him to do. Just "Do your thing" (how hip was THAT?
Well, Pat began with some Mozart, went right into boogie woogie followed up by every genre of music one could imagine. I realized that he was WAY, WAY above my pay scale. I walked away saying to myself... This "kid" is a wizard. He was a wizard then at all of MAYBE fifteen.
