    Great video as always. I think it is best to know how to fix the gun yourself in case problems like this arise (and what parts to order) rather than paying for the shipping in both ways. I did use quite a bit high vacuum grease (from Dow Corning) to prevent leaks in rubber o-rings in metal evaporation chambers, molecular beam epitaxy chambers, liquid nitrogen cooled dewers etc when I was at the grad school at UCLA. I wonder if you can use the same on the white (teflon?) o-ring, and perhaps on the barrel that slides back and forth on the plastic guide as well. Take care, Pete.

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as the grease doesn't affect rubber, normally neoprene in these, it should be ok. Obviously, keep in mind that the area these components are in is in the air train of the gun, so only enough to lubricate as excess can come through the gun onto your work

    • @windsurfingphd
      @windsurfingphd ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peteshobbies5383 The Dow Corning high vacuum grease is "designed" for rubber (neoprene) o-rings. So, I wouldn't think even it harms a teflon o-ring. The main emphasis behind the high vacuum grease is that it does NOT degas under vacuum or pressure. I sometimes used to put this grease on threads to eliminate microscopic leaks in liquid nitrogen cooled dewers. Anyways, in your case you mentioned there might be a possibility that it could migrate to mix with your paint. However, there is always a positive pressure in the air chamber to push the grease back towards the threads. In the vacuum work, this was just the opposite where the grease starts migrating towards the sample, and we never encountered any trace of organic residue when we examined the chemical composition of gold contacts using atomic spectroscopy. I think in air guns this should work even better due to outward pressure. I wouldn't use petroleum jelly or any type of thick oil. My 2 cents.

      @peteshobbies5383  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @windsurfingphd From what I can see, the inward pressure follows on through the gun, so it would take any excess through the gun, as long as people don't put an excessive amount it doesn't cause a problem.
      I normally use a silicone based lithium complex grease for rubber parts but don't in the case of spray guns because of the problems that would cause

    I bought WS400 at the end of last year. It´s a series 1 gun, didn´t know the series 2 was going to be launched, I have used the gun less than 10 times and it started leaking air from the front air horn. Used Sata as a hobby painter for years, was disappointed about theyr atomisation ability, never any air leak problems tho. Also bought Kiwami 4, liked kinda how it sprays solvent base and water base colors. Had quite a lot troubles to get the WS400 to spray clear. Not sure if i bought the wrong guns for me. Another choice was Sagola, regreting now for not trying out theyr guns.

      @peteshobbies5383  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jan, sorry to hear the WS400 is giving you trouble. Have you contacted the supplier you bought it from? It should be under warranty. It will be a problem with the air valve behind the trigger, letting air pass.
      Have you seen my videos on angling the air cap on the WS400? It makes it spray the same as the series2

    • @jansalminen2584
      @jansalminen2584 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have 1.3 HD and 1.4 HD fluid tips and both of them are in 45 degree angle, so i would need to twist the air cap 45 degree. Haven´t tried it cuz i thought it would feel funny, too much in a angle. Struggling with the low fluid flow, used to that Sata will consume much more fluid.

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All the split tip guns are slower than their conventional cousins. The atomisation is definitely finer, but, as you say, it's at the expense of speed, Series2 isn't any faster it just easier to use as you don't have the fan separation problems the original has when the fan is opened up

    I finally found an Anest Iwata company representative. I was sent a Kiwami4 parts list with individual part numbers. Will update you when I hear back and learn more.

      @@peteshobbies5383 The rep is sending me pricing tomorrow. They also verified there are other parts they specify for other models which also work on the Kiwami4, but has not provided those cross reference part numbers. From the schematic of the link you have shared, here is the corresponding actual part numbers:
      Part Number
      5 - 93001640 - Air Valve Assembly
      6 - 93001690 - Air Valve
      7 - 93001700 - Air Valve Spring (probably never will be needed to be replaced)
      8 - 93012630 - Valve Guide Assembly
      11 - 93001790 - Valve Stem
      I did a google search on the part numbers. Some parts show up as being for the Wider2 model. One of the parts showed up as being for the Wider1 series. These part numbers should help. Discovering the cross reference part numbers would be more helpful for providing us with more choices. The rep will get back to me tomorrow with the pricing. I still have to determine if it would make sense to replace parts, or replace the gun. Some ebay sellers in my search results are getting over $50 for air valve assembly. At that pricing, the idea of replacing parts would make it difficult to repair the gun.

    The replacement parts pricing for 5, 6, 7, 8, and 11 are about $80. The quoted DHL shipping to my zip code was an additional $80. Unfortunately, Part 5 assembly was quoted at $31 and part 8 assembly was $18. At that pricing, and that DHL shipping was still going to be $80, purchasing replacement parts makes no sense, when another new gun would be the same cost. I only paid $153 for my Kiwami4 and that was with shipping cost included, from Japan. It is unfortunate. I have not been told the part number for a "kit" which would contain both assemblies, though I had asked 3 different e-mails, so I am not certain a kit yet exists.

      I do have some fake Chinese guns and there are slight differences so i would expect the differences to be there on this if it was a fake.
      This is the third Iwata I've had this problem with, the other was a LPH80 and a W101 so it's not unprecedented, everything wears out, i get that, but shouldn't after such a short time, I spray most days now but have many guns to chose from so nothing get loads of use really

    What is a good website link to purchase service repair parts or kits for the Kiwami 4? I am in the USA. I cannot find any schematic with correct part numbers for the Kiwami4-13BA4 with the Kiwami4-BA4J Needle and Cap set. I have checked the Anest Iwata websites from USA, Japan, Vietnam and South Africa, and not one of them offers actual part numbers or a resource of where the Fluid Adjusting Guide or the Air Valve Seat parts can be obtained, or the actual part numbers for either of those parts or a service kit part number. The websites which are available - all seem to be out of date or links within those sites do not work. Not one of the sites supports parts for the Kiwami4. Thank you.

  • @nealnaz
    @nealnaz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Here is my last follow up of what I have tracked down regarding repair parts for the Kiwami4. Iwata does not sell the parts directly to consumers. If you bought the Kiwami4 from outside your country because your country doesn't allow the gun to be sold, and you do not know where to get replacement parts, here is the answer. The Air Valve Seat assembly(5) and the Valve Guide assembly(8), for Kiwami4 spray gun are the parts that fail and cause air leaks. Those same parts and part numbers are also used in the Wider2 model. So, if Kiwami4 isn't sold in your country and the Wider2 is, you can get the replacement parts. In South Africa, Iwata sells the Valve Guide assembly(8) for $31, and from Iwata USA it is $53.48. In S Africa, the Valve Seat assembly(5) sells for $18, and in USA it sells for $25.91. Likewise, the Air Valve(6) and Valve Stem(11), are the same exact parts and part numbers as the WS200 SuperNova model gun. So, if the WS200 is sold in your country and not the Kiwami4, and you need the Valve and Stem, the Air Valve(6) in USA sells for $31.97 and the Valve Stem(11) sells for $22.05. I am told the only parts used for air leak repair are the two assemblies, #5 and #8, and the Air Valve(6) and Stem(11) are not typically replaced, due to solvents wearing out the plastic/silicone seals of the assemblies. There are no Kiwami4 Service "repair kits" that are sold by Iwata, only the individual parts are, and only through authorized distributors. The two distributors from Iwata USA, I was told to go to are jbtools.com and megadepot.com. For places where the Kiwami4 is not sold, but you need to get the parts - as here in the USA, find the parts from sellers of the WIDER2 or WS200 SuperNova guns, to repair the air leak. I was told that no "local" Iwata distributor typically carries parts. Due to my research you can now find and get them, now that you know the part number/s to order. Good luck.

      @@peteshobbies5383 If you have an exploded diagram with part numbers it's possible that the Supernova uses the same parts that you're having trouble with. If so, you'll be able to obtain these replacement parts domestically as Iwata uses the same parts for many of their guns. Iwata's unique design, where the air and the fluid are both controlled by one valve instead of two is the root cause of this problem. I've never had an issue with it on any of my Iwata's but I can see how this could happen.

      Hi Sataman, the design is the same with virtually all the Iwatas as you say but the parts are slightly different, I can obtain the parts quite easily from Japan but they are quite expensive and shouldn't be necessary on such a new gun and my thinking is will it do the same next year after new parts? , I am in the process of changing some of my W400's for Kiwami4's and hopefully this isn't a mistake, only time will tell

      Hi Mate, the W400 Bellaria and LPH400 have the same problems, and so do the LPH80, W101 etc, it happens to a lot of the Iwatas
