Edith Murway-Traina (USA, b. 8 Aug 1921) took up deadlifting and benching at 91 to indulge a friend who had “dragged her kicking and screaming” to the gym. The Floridian was soon hooked and began entering competitions. In her most recent event, on 10 Nov 2019, she placed second in her class with a 60‑lb (27.2‑kg) bench press aged 98 years, 94 days!
A former line-dance instructor, Edith hopes to compete in 2021 to celebrate her 100th birthday!

@@iafog It's not about the speed of talking, it's about the clarity and processing speed. Most older people tend to have a cognitive 'slow down' and they take longer to respond, lose track of their words, get tired of talking...etc. I actually find her mental clarity more impressive than her physique, which in itself is quite amazing.

For someone who’s been doing weight training for years and keeping fit, Iv never thought an 100 year old make me question myself 😂
why is that making you question yourself? doing weights (especially deadlifts) is the ideal way to stay strong and healthy into advanced age

@@taoist32 Yeah, this guy either hasn't been to a gym or he hasn't been outside of a gym. The claim that the average person could "lift 2x your weight without training" is laughable. The average American is obese and there's no way your typical 200 lb man is deadlifting 400 lbs.

average male weight is 200, so that means average male deadlift is 400, according to strength level the average male 30 year old lifter weighing 200 only deadlifts 373, out of a pool of weightlifters specifically so ur wrong
