- Edith Murway is not only celebrating her 100th birthday, she’s also celebrating her entry into the 2022 Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest female competitive powerlifter. This decorated athlete from Florida says she only started lifting nine years ago when she saw other women lifting at her gym and decided to give it a try. Despite her shelves of accolades, Edith says she wants more and she’s gearing up for competition in the fall. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more. #InsideEdition

Everything in human body ages and mostly you can't reverse that. Hovewer, muscle mass can be gained at any age. And exercising slows the loss of brain mass (literally) thus get your chin ups going.

My grandma was a scuba instructor well into her 80s. For the first time, I must admit this lady has her beat.

My uncle is Rick b. He's Been winning heavyweight arm wrestling championships all over the u.s. for 45 years. He's in his 60s now and still benches 450 lbs.. age is just a number... although he competes in the 55+ category now.. he still destroys local champs they're 22 all the time.

Beyond amazing
I met her at a Senior Games Powerlifting competition. My first and I was SCARED. I was early 60s. I told her how nervous I was and she laughed and said “Well you can’t get fired! Just do your best and have fun.” She was so positive and enjoyed the competition very much.

I had a teacher In the second grade who was a powerlifter. She was in her 50's and she was 1 of the nicest teachers I ever had. :)
