    Also a strong choice is to chose a forest to build the base inside

      That means lots of tree cutting ... Or having a very fluid base layout ... which I don't like.

      Nice idea, I remember that grenading trees away created fire and lots of pollution, but maybe that was in the beta ...?

      @@PeterPlays82 hm... i play the game since there was a pink cadillac instead of a the jeep,i never ever saw a grenade set fire to anything,your memorys must trick you.
      the only change about grenades is you get them easier than in previous versions.
      maybe the frag grenades set fire now,i didn´t use any of them for quite a while now

    Handy tips. Some thoughts:
    1. You can also choose helpful settings when creating a new game.
    A) Increasing your starting area will lengthen the time before your pollution can get to biter nests.
    B) Increasing trees will cause more pollution absorption, but you'll also want to make *LOTS* of grenades to clear openings for your base/rails/etc.
    C) You can also turn off biter *AND* pollution expansion without losing the ability to gain achievements.
    2. There are several mods that add pollution sensors, so you can--for example--shut down a remote mining outpost before its pollution cloud reaches a local biter nest. (I did that for a 'live and let live' run where I was trying to launch a rocket without destroying any biter structure. Pollution management was the number one concern.)
    3. There are several air purification mods at actively remove pollution. This can make a *HUGE* difference if you can afford the expense.
    4. There are several mods that allow you to plant trees, so you can plant a hedge around your base/outpost/etc.
    Note: installing mods turns off Steam achievements _while the mods are active._ Uninstalling them will turn achievements back on. If you wish, you can plant all of the trees that you want, uninstall the mod, then continue your game with Steam achievements re-enabled.
    Cheers!

    • @KeithOlson
      @KeithOlson 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      @@PeterPlays82 It's only cheating if you agreed to follow the rules-as-written beforehand.
      (Considering Wube took the unprecedented step of _only_ turning off certain Steam achievements if certain options are changed and turning Steam achievements back on if you uninstall a mod, they *CLEARLY* don't see unorthodox behaviour as cheating. Heck, in their *_wiki_* they link to a forum thread on how to hex-edit your save file to turn achievements back on even after 'illegal' changes. #smh )

    I really don't know why at least a few people (probably more) don't use efficiency modules since, less power needed = less coal burned = more coal to create plastic and science.
    Plus it can be annoying to keep needing to kill biters that expand and force me to kill them as my bases are poorly defended at best.
    Also I probably also like efficiency modules because of how I make my outposts which are powered by steam from a tank on site and refilled by the train, as a result no need for powerlines.
    Also the modules in the outpost's miners means the train needs to refill the tank less often. Sure I could use a better, bigger design but I'm a person who really likes small designs.

      Personally I play completely without biters, since I don't like that part of the game. But yes, I understand where you're coming from

    • @PeterPlays82
      @PeterPlays82  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I did not use Efficiency Modules until I had to do "Keeping your hands clean", because I just avoided biter attacks by destroying their nests in a big radius around my base. This achievement is one reason that I love Space Age, because it forces me to learn more about the game to be successful (in many ways)!

    • @PeterPlays82
      @PeterPlays82  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      With space age it is required to have enemies for getting certain resources. But deactivating evolution and expansion and using the largest starting area also makes the fighting part of the game much less, if you don't like that part and still want the chance to get all achievements.

    • @PeterPlays82
      @PeterPlays82  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Steam in a train is a fun way to supply outposts with electricity, I need to try that! :-) Steam would be a candidate for a spoiling fluid (cooling down).

      not really,you just need to wall in your base in time,biternests are usually far enough away to have the space for the factory.

    • @PeterPlays82
      @PeterPlays82  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Currently I am focusing on the earlier parts of the game so I cannot give you a strategy for trees yet. I know that pollution damages trees and that damaged trees absorb less pollution that "intact" trees. So I would suggest to harvest and replant trees once they have lost a significant part of their leaves, to maintain their ability to absorb pollution. Power saving is better with a combination of prod and speed modules.

    • @PeterPlays82
      @PeterPlays82  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Both modules increase power consumption (indirect pollution) and also direct pollution. Please elaborate what you mean with "power saving". More items/min for the same amount of power used?

    •  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@PeterPlays82 for the same amount of items/s you consume less energy, especially if the thing has lot of multi-step inputs (e.g. science), because you also decrease factory size overall. But there is some weird interplay between speed and productivity too, which I don't remember exactly but the point is it works out. I think if you google it you'll find discussions about it easily.

      @@PeterPlays82 pollution for energy required is simply an addition to machines base pollution. For example in a basic 1 miner 1 boiler 1 steam turbine setup miner will generate 10 p/m and boiler will generate 1.5 p/m.
