The brief shot of what it looks like through the pan dual nods was my favorite shot. It’s something most other channels haven’t seemed to figure out. Very cool video.
We have been riding like this for 10 years….we started military NVGs modded to bike helmets like yours. We never tried using infrared lights but it would definitely have helped. We also have been woods racers for a long time so we had the skill to do this….its ok on an open road but in tight woods it’s really difficult…you have to time when to turn as you can’t look down really close . I am sure your wider field of vision helped. We also tried it snowmobiling….it’s pretty amazing. Great video…love your channel.
been running my brute force 650 ATV at night with night vision for the last few years. I run a rechargeable Camera IR light I built a mount for the front rack. I get a 25m x 20 m throw of light. works good for total black out night runs. Started with my GT mountain bike then went to the ATV next the XR 650l.
That was incredible, then the outro was so seamless the video had such a cohesive story I was so entranced the ending caught me off guard as time flew by. Keep making videos!
On your 450 speedo/light issue, where the wire y's off to go to the headlight, cut it there, install the toggle. So as to not interrupt the power to the speedo. Not sure if that makes sense, but trust me, it does. You can share a fuse and interrupt the power in the right location no problem.
Fast recon spec ops style, love it mate. Ready for bugging out at a moments notice unless there is an emp burst or the battery runs out. Oh well it looks good all the same.
Awesome! I think bikes like the HondaXR150L can be customize to make them as quiet as an electric bike. By adding Akrapovic Silencers, Sound Deadening Sprays and Exhaust Wraps. Keeping low rpms, though.
Been doing this for years on ATV's, but I can only get it so quiet. Hopefully the reviews on the Altis Sigma come back positive so I can get one ordered. This setup is such the 300 BLK of transport. Love it!!!!
Great video! Thanks. Watching from Europe, Germany. Being prepared becomes more of a thing again over here. Really enjoying this kind of videos as well as DC. Keep it up.
Happy to see u doing your own channel. When i saw you on the dirty civ video I wondered why you weren't doing your own thing already. Keep up the good work. South Fl is hoping to see more from you. I loved the shot of jumping the bike across the gas station doorway, lol. Very cool!😊
I did something very similar recently with a different vehicle. If you carefully open the switch you can rotate the cover and put it back together. What this does is reverse the throw. This way you can always have your regular lights on with the switch cover down and you will flip the switch up to cut the lights. When you need white light in a pinch, just slap the large red switch cover down and it will turn your lights on.
I blacked out my Honda Ruckus and bomb that thing around at night with nods all the time! I do have a toggle for the high lights in case of emergency. I also left my blinkers untouched in case I’m on road with a car behind me and I need them to see me. Super fun, and the Ruckus is pretty quiet for what it is. My next step is to add some switched ir lights. Very cool video man! Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii 🤙🏽🤙🏽 Subscribed
I dig it man, subbed. can I get an update video or add on what it looks like to others in the dark. I saw what you have but still couldn't get a soild sense of what it's like.
Nice. I was looking at those same lights. I currently have a 450R and yz250f, so no dual sport yet. I put a 1913 section on my front fender and mount a UHP or NGAL on it when I ride with night vision. Great video.
I've rewired my NX250 my KLR 650 and my Foreman 500 for NVG's. First rode with ANVIS 6 goggles back in the early 2000's . My latest project is my TW200 which is why I picked up a basic no tech bike that hasn't changed much since 1987. I use to convert old 24V military lights to 12v and use Surefire weapons lights on rail mounts as needed . I can tell you that to night time adapted people (Goat Herders in Afghanistan ) 850nm light stands out like a dick in a punch bowl . You may want to get a 940nm spot or flood as a switchable option. As for the helmet put some back up material under that NVG mount. The breakaway pressure on that mount is more then it will take to rip those screws through the material.so If you dump and break your mount you are stuck. Great job though NVG ops in Emergencies are a lifesaver.
This is awesome, I've always imagined doing this on a motorcycle. I was planning to pick up some goggles to explore the Oregon forests at night during the moons.
@ thanks!.. I have a cheap-y E-Bike but I'm gonna film some night shots at my university campus. I may use some of your "angles" and composition as a template since it's badass! Last question, what focal length did you use and any color grading for the night shots or just left as is? Thanks!! And subscribed and followed on IG
I own a CUCV, which is the military version of a K5 Blazer, with a diesel engine (aka boat anchor) AND military blackout light... with a switch you kill all the light. You can use convoy light OR IR light, with an IR illuminator (mine arrived without it) and convoy IR light all is done to achieve the highest level of light discipline thus reducing the possibilities of being spotted by enemies, either flyer or ground forces. if you google the logic beyond how they arranged the switch mode you may find it interesting
Honestly not bad. There’s a little more going on with a gas bike have a clutch and all, and the sound signature isn’t great. But, I can definitely see some use cases where using a normal dirtbike with night vision could be useful.
Does this FX have the removable batteries? My dream is to get one and also 2 spare batteries (yes I realize how expensive that would be) and have a set charged up and ready to swap.
Shouldn't the locking switch be the other way? Like, 180° from how you have it? You should have to pull it because pushing it could happen accidentally under braking inertia. ETA: Sorry, I forgot to mention how awesome I think the mod and the video itself came out. Quality work.
I was wondering what you use for editing your videos and what presets you have for color grading. Absolutely love your editing and shooting style. Also are you in TN with the dirty civ crew? Was thinking about moving out there too, to be able to do stuff like this. Can’t do this in Philly 💀
Dude, well done.
Thanks dudes!
Wait! This isn't a @dirty-civilian video?
@@Zowbythis is one of the guys personal TH-cam channel
I knew I would find you here.

Thank you. It was tricky getting that shot. Required a lot of finessing and matching in post!

Yo your the guy who was featured in Dirty Civilian, glad you made a YT channel of your own
So cool. I’ve been talking about doing this for years. A zero fx with night vision. You could ride all kinds of trails you’re not supposed to.

Excited to learn a lot of new things from this channel!
Fantastic video! Editing, sfx, music, and a very interesting yet simple build.
This video is BEYOND epic!!! So sick. I’m definitely drilling my v1 helmet haha! Which mount did you end up screwing to the helmet?
Dude!!! This bike is AMAZING!!! I got a Ghostcat F3X now, saw this!! Ah, looks great! 😊 Also bro! What is your helmet at 3:22???? I need it lol
I plan on doing this in the future, thanks for some direction as to how to do it
Both content and production was super.
Thanks.
Insanely good footage and editing 🙌🏻 Sick video 🔥
Thanks you!
What a setup! What a concept! What a guy!
EPIC Cinematography 👏👏👏👏👏

Thank you very much!
What a good video. This deserves more recognition
The production of this video is awesome
That’s why he’s the goat!!
Just found your channel and subscribed. Well done.
Awesome video. Id definitely like to see more about how you mounted your nv to the helmet.
I hope to make a video specifically on the helmet setup at some point!
Quality video! Well done.
This is amazing quality dude. Im currently building out my klx 300 and this gave me so many ideas!

This looks like a huge channel video by the quality
But at time of writing this is the first long form video of this channel

Amazing video production. Given on it's on top of great modifications of expensive equipment. Very hard to do, or at least, very tricky.

This is really cool take it from someone who loves the night great job keep shining like the King u are

Since you're using infrared lights you might as well use digital night vision like nvg-50 or adnv g14 plus they double as helmet cams
Wow, outstanding vid. BravoZulu!
Thank you for making a video on something i have been Thinking about for Months ever since DC's First 2 wheeled mobility video
This is awesome I want one

Super cool.
When do you think you'll have this build on your website?
@@ireilly2000 that’s a good question. I have a pretty significant change I’d like to cover in a video before doing a full build blog on it.

This is so cool! Can it be done with the new thermal vision technology? Or maybe both…switchable? I like the distance thermal offers.
Hey! If you don't mind sharing, which Sony camera did you use to film your night footage? Was it an a7siii IR converted?
Thanks!!
Yeah! I used a IR converted A7SII for all the riding footage, and for all the talking and the campfire bit I used a A7CII

Amazing video. Unfortunately all of this stuff is almost impossible de acquire or is very expansive here in Brazil.
