    So I watched this a few times, read the comments, and have come up with the following - although I did end up using the Fox V1 so if you are using another helmet, you may not have the same experience. I set it up the same way in the video - two bolts. There is no way adhesive would work with this set up - the Wilcox shroud has three points of contact that really don't line up with the surface of the helmet - you won't get much holding area. I used two 1/4X20 socket heads and 1/4X20 tee nuts. There is no penetration into the interior shell - if you hit hard enough to have to worry about the bolts, I think you have bigger problems. I ended up using a Noisefighters Panobridge mount with two old PVS-14s - one green one white but your brain blends the colors so it is all one tone. I am astounded how well this set up works - so much more field of view than the 31's although a lot heavier. No way I would be as comfortable off road with the 31's and my helmet lol. Now I am looking to upgrade from the e-ride. Thanks for the inspiration!

    You should put the screws in from the inside that way you don't have to worry about the length as much. You could even use countersunk screws with wide area washers to keep the inside of the helmet as safe as possible

    I have a similar setup but using the panobridge for mine so I can articulate to the sides vs up. Also check out crye precision battery pouch you can put Velcro under the goggle strap area on the helmet and the goggles will slide over it and it will be streamlined and easy to take off when not needed.

    I have seen some preparedness videos covering overlanders and trucks but I have seen very few videos on sedans. There are a lot of people who have a daily driver of a sedan because they want the better gas milage than a truck/suv. It would interest me to see best organization practices and whatnot in sedans. Like trunk space optimization while still having room in the trunk for life.

    • @gguerrero5503
      @gguerrero5503 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Maybe because sedans are not as versatile as other type of vehicles like trucks, suvs, and vans. I think if you are trying to get a car to kit out for this kind of thing it should be a wagon or hatch style car. Unless there’s a sedan that’s known to be able to handle all kinds of things cough p71 cough p72 cough.

    • @Eagle52525
      @Eagle52525 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ well that’s why I think it would make for a good video on this channel in particular. He showed his dirt bike load out on dirty civilian. Dirt bikes are also super limited on space more so than sedans. Obviously compromises were made on the dirt bike so as an extension what does it look like on a small car like a Sentra or Corolla.

      @@Eagle52525Make it a "run what ya brung" experiment. I like it!
      I'd start with just the basics of good PM. Then add extra fluids of every type on board. A set of hand tools. Pioneer tools. Limited slip diff, traction boards, and snow chains to round it out.
      I learned how to off-road in an 82 Honda Accord hatchback. It taught me the value of judicious use of momentum - not so much that I broke or buried it, and not so little that I got stuck. It's amazing the places I went.

      @PatrickKQ4HBD หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Eagle52525 I've seen enough situations in which people needed to get onto the shoulder and the grass in order to get around a crash or downed tree, etc. Also snowy roads. My standard is that my vehicle commutes efficiently in good times and can drive over a curb in an emergency without getting high centered or stuck. Our Grand Caravan could, but not our Honda Odyssey. I would love an AWD Sienna with just a 2" lift, but I am done with sliding doors.
      Tl;dr: People need to prep for efficiency in the good times as well as capability for the bad.

      @@avidwarrior9751 The Cardo like product named "Fodsport fx8 pro" has an "active listening" feature but the active listening comes from the same microphone used for speaking. So you just end up hearing a lot of yourself doing heavy breathing on the bike. I suppose if you bent the mic outside of your helmet when stopped, it could work as active hearing. There are some amazing epoxies out there you can use instead of putting screws in line with your skull. Helmets are designed to crunch a little bit. Be bummer to get one of those screws into your forehead. Love the content keep it up!

    • @jamil8lila

      Thanks Erik, I came here to say exactly that. Sikaflex is used on racing yachts and is rated at 180 pounds per square inch. That means that if you glue a one inch by one inch lego square to something, it will hold the weight of a 180 pound man indefinitely. It's more than strong enough to hold whatever to your helmet. Please for all that is good in this world, get those skull piercers out of your helmet. If you impact in that area, helmets are designed to compress, and screws are designed to not compress. Kapeesh? Sikaflex is your friend. Only thing it takes about 3 days for the smell to offgas so don't put it on your head straight away after your glueup. Use a ratchet strap or two as a compression device so that the sikaflex bonds completely to the helmet and shroud. Just glue in the contact patches where the shroud meets the helmet, ignore the vent areas, there is PLENTY of contact patch to have a unified bond with that Fox V1. Cheers!

    • @Makeitmobileco
      @Makeitmobileco  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Possibly! The short of it is they are awesome for operating vehicles, they have a few cons, but really not anything crazy. Passive aiming isn’t great in the panned position, and they don’t articulate.

    • @alexsupertramp4977
      @alexsupertramp4977 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Makeitmobileco Yeah, seems to trade off articulation for the increased FOV, but outside of hand held thermal use articulation seems a lot more of a convenience versus increased FOV being a pretty significant capability increase. Any experience with detaching the pods and using the external psu as a mono? If so any issues of them becoming un-culminated when reattaching? Look forward to a review hopefully!
