Sometimes I forget how skilled Esmeralda is. She can dance, is an excellent animal trainer, use illusionist techniques, is a skilled combatant, brilliant public speaker, and especially rare-SWIM. She was able to dive in, remove or help remove Phoebus’s armor and rescue swim them both to safety.
Not to mention her medical knowledge. Remember she stitched him up from the arrow wound. But honestly, when you live a life like hers, you just grow up learning that stuff, and if you don't, you're dead meat. She probably learned how to do stitches by helping her parents do it, probably swam with her siblings as a kid, had one of her people teach her how to dance and do her tricks, and aside from that, she probably learned a large chunk of it on her own just trying to get by. It's kind of like Aladdin. He lived a life as a street rat, which gave him many abilities. And he's also kind, like when he gave bread to the kids who looked like they were eating garbage for days. Aladdin and Esmeralda would have gotten along quite well, actually.

Frollo man, One of Disney’s most cruelest villains, and by far, the best. He has the greatest Disney song throughout all of Disney history, and no one can change me mind about that. Frollo has a very special place in my heart because Disney has never made any villains like him, just like this whole film. I love hunchback so so so much. Such a great movie, yet soooooo underrated.
I only hope this tradition comes back for future Disney movies. I was expecting Frozen 2 to have the best, most cruelest, monstrous but funniest Disney villain we have ever seen since the Hunchback of Notre Dame. But now I hope it comes for another Frozen sequel

The narrative of corrupt political officials screwing about while the King is away isn’t a new one. Robin Hood was similar with Prince John causing misery while his elder brother was off during the crusades.

I don't have relgious beliefs but Frollo had been given two warnings or reminders in the film on what lies in store for him if he continues his evil doings. Firstly at the start of the film he kills Quasimodo's mother by kicking her onto the steps of Notre Dame after accusing her of carrying 'stolen goods'. But after seeing the 'stolen goods' is baby Quasimodo, he decides to drown him, believing him to be a 'monster' and the Archdeacon who barely stops Frollo from doing so, lectures him that the 'Eyes of Notre Dame' are 'watching him'. While it is ambiguous whenever the statues are alive or not like Hugo, Victor and Laverne, the way they stare at him including the statue of the Virgin May and baby Jesus are all symbolising their angry looks towards him for what he just done and unless he makes up for his sins Frollo is destined for Hell once he dies. Later during the infamous song Hellfire the crimson robed monks Frollo hallucinates are strongly implied to be inhabitants from Hell and they themselves had the chance to redeem or ask God for forgiveness by admitting they sinned so reclamation can be claimed but they were too late and them 'appearing' is them warning Frollo the same fate will happen to him unless he finally accepts he is in the wrong. But despite the 'warnings' Frollo still risks the wrath of God and adding his name to the population of Hell by bullying Quasimodo, having lustful feelings for Esmeralda , burning down Paris which results in people being homeless or worse killed, being racist towards the gypsies, trying to kill innocent people like the Miller and his family, unsuccessfully killing Esmeralda , trying to kill Quasimodo again twice first by dagger then by trying to throw him off the balcony and even admitted he wanted to kill him 20 years ago as well as admitting though indirectly he killed Quasimodo's mother and worst of all attacking Notre Dame herself. And his final sin is when he was about to behead Esmeralda and his final words "And he shall smite the wicked and plunge them into the firey pit" comes back to haunt him as it was implied either God was only too glad to make Frollo's words come true or more likely there was only so much that God could take and knowing Frollo is beyond redemption decides to end his life by having him sent to Hell. And the gargoyle coming to 'life' in the form of a devil, presumably Lucifer or Satan symbolises Frollo going to Hell is inevitable and Frollo suddenly realised too late, he cannot save his soul as he has finally crossed the line and him screaming in terror is not because he fears the statue or he ia falling but rather because he is terrified on going to Hell and the torture he will deservedly get for all the evil he had done.
This is good and all but only one theory interested me, the one about the robed figures. Everything else was something I already knew. Thanks for the knowledge
Another point about Hellfire I saw someone else point out: God answered him and his prayer in the song. IMMEDIATELY after he asks protection - to either destroy and get rid of Esmeralda and his lust for her or else make her his and his alone - the song is immediately interrupted by a soldier telling him she's disappeared. She's gone. God has made it that she is no longer there, he doesn't have to think about her anymore, God has taken away his source of lust and obsession and all he has to do is let it go. But does he take the hint? Nope, instead he purposely chooses to sink further into his wrath and lust and vows to hunt her down.
A relatively rarely shown virtue in cartoons or, indeed, the entertainment industry as such: although a soldier and faced with a threat of the capital punishment, Phoebus unflinchingly refused to kill innocent civilians.
It's even MORE ballsy when one considers he ran the risk of being put up on the pyre with the rest of the 'sinners' for speaking out against the church

Gaston also was called a hero by his village, means before the events of the movie, he's been hunting for them to feed the poor town, as Belle stated. Also wild animals were a big problem in France at that time, and we see a bear's head in his wall, he also protects the village. He's not evil as much as frollo, he just happened to clash with such a bizzare story of a book worm falling in love with a beast who...kidnapped her and her father.

Houses back then were made out of more flammable materials. Most roofs during that time were also thatched with reeds or straw which has always been highly flammable. Only the nobility or large churches like Notre Dame could've afforded to have their roofs made out of more non-flammable materials like lead. House fires from lighting strikes were not unheard of back then. Chimneys were another common cause of house fires back then.
As a Christian, there's a secret a lot of atheists fail to mention. That secret is a lot of people go to church and say they are believers just so other people will notice. This is common among people with wealth and influence, like politicians. Frollo says he's a believer, but he's really an atheist who uses the image (not the teachings) of the church to excuse his actions. People who have done that in real life often suffer the worst fates.

I can't believe that it's been 15 years that the late tony jay aka master frollo died in 2006 which not only broke my heart and among other Disney actors and actresses that died also which still broke my heart devastated me and I never saw any of their deaths coming not even master frollo as well but also I never saw on the news what happen to all of the Disney actors and actress that died but either way they are all super lucky to be a part disney movies and they are all forever remembered as the legendary Disney actors and actresses who were all born to pursue their careers for a long time to be in the Disney movies and I will not forget both Walt Disney himself and Roy Disney for making Walt Disney world in both Orlando Florida and in California happen a long time ago since 1971 Disney world is forever my happy place on earth always and forever but also my greatest adventure of all time Disney world is forever my life including universal Orlando resort volcano bay SeaWorld and epic universe which is still happening so it will be ready by 2025.
So Frollo is basically Disney's recreation of Adolf Hitler. LE: ok, Frollo is not Hitler, but he was actually inspired by Amon Göth who was... surprise-surprise... a fu**ing Nazi and the commander of the Krakow ghetto and concentration camp during WW2. The producer, Don Hahn, confirmed this in an interview and said that Frollo's character was modelled after he saw Ralph Fiennes performance as Göth in Schindler's List.

It shows how much power Frollo had that Phoebus was the only one who made it clear that killing the innocent was wrong. Frollo's men really had no qualms with him executing the family when there was no evidence that they had anything to do with Esmeralda.

But despite the 'warnings' Frollo still risks the wrath of God and adding his name to the population of Hell by bullying Quasimodo, having lustful feelings for Esmeralda , burning down Paris which results in people being homeless or worse killed, being racist towards the gypsies, trying to kill innocent people like the Miller and his family, unsuccessfully killing Esmeralda , trying to kill Quasimodo again twice first by dagger then by trying to throw him off the balcony and even admitted he wanted to kill him 20 years ago as well as admitting though indirectly he killed Quasimodo's mother and worst of all attacking Notre Dame herself.
And his final sin is when he was about to behead Esmeralda and his final words "And he shall smite the wicked and plunge them into the firey pit" comes back to haunt him as it was implied either God was only too glad to make Frollo's words come true or more likely there was only so much that God could take and knowing Frollo is beyond redemption decides to end his life by having him sent to Hell. And the gargoyle coming to 'life' in the form of a devil, presumably Lucifer or Satan symbolises Frollo going to Hell is inevitable and Frollo suddenly realised too late, he cannot save his soul as he has finally crossed the line and him screaming in terror is not because he fears the statue or he ia falling but rather because he is terrified on going to Hell and the torture he will deservedly get for all the evil he had done.
This is good and all but only one theory interested me, the one about the robed figures. Everything else was something I already knew. Thanks for the knowledge

Another point about Hellfire I saw someone else point out: God answered him and his prayer in the song. IMMEDIATELY after he asks protection - to either destroy and get rid of Esmeralda and his lust for her or else make her his and his alone - the song is immediately interrupted by a soldier telling him she's disappeared. She's gone. God has made it that she is no longer there, he doesn't have to think about her anymore, God has taken away his source of lust and obsession and all he has to do is let it go. But does he take the hint? Nope, instead he purposely chooses to sink further into his wrath and lust and vows to hunt her down.
A relatively rarely shown virtue in cartoons or, indeed, the entertainment industry as such: although a soldier and faced with a threat of the capital punishment, Phoebus unflinchingly refused to kill innocent civilians.
