I don't know why, but I always found Phoebus goofy and so endeering, he's not the typical cute boy. But Quasi will always have a place in my heart. My favourite disney film ever💗

Phoebus is one of my favorite disney male characters, and so underrated. He's virtuous from the start, tries his best to be good to difficult people like Esme and Quazi, and is respectful and obedient to authority until that authority does evil, he choses to do what's right even if he'll be martyred for it. If he was a real person, he's on the pathway to Sainthood, and I love that!
And the most amazing thing is, Phoebus is an evil villain in Victor Hugo's book.

Well he is one of my least favorite Disney male characters and deserves to be underrated. he speaks so stupidly and wins Esmeralda heart by sheer luck cause he rescued a family from a fire without knowing that Esmeralda saw him doing it, resulting in him getting hit with an arrow, Esmeralda taking him to Quasimodo's bell tower home to heal him, goes Florence nightgale effect on him and kisses him just as Quasi was about to confess his feelings for her, making him cry. if it weren't for him, Quasi would get the girl.
@@moatguy4471 I do not like him, he won Esmeraldas heart without even trying, he saves a family from a fire without knowing Esmeralda witnessed it, resulting in Esmeralda going Florence nightgal on him, breaking Quasimodo's heart and making him cry. I wish he was a villain here too so Esmeralda won't love him
Phoebes had a point. Yes Quasimodo had every right to feel heart broken, disappointed and jealous Esmeralda and Phoebes ended up in a relationship but he should had been grateful he had Esmeralda for a friend.
Obviously it hurts when a girl doesn't return your feelings but it is better being friends with a girl you like than lose them especially if they showed kindness to you.
Quasimodo is a downplayed example of an ungrateful b#$:@&€. He got over it.

@@ambermedellin6832 Quasi isn't the first to feel love and try to see if Esmeralda can love back. Any young mind would find themselves in such a thing. And don't forget his personality was also shaped by Frollo raising him in such a discouraging way. You shouldn't be surprised when someone is ungrateful. You can't expect someone to get over it so easily depending on how bad their insecurity is. People are made differently depending on their circumstances and how they learn to deal with it. Some better than others. He does get over it since he doesn't want people to die because of Frollo. He struggles with this all the way until Esmeralda is in danger.
Pheobis was asking him to risk his life and everything he's ever known for his own girlfriend how is that gratifying and still in the end the one who ended up saving her and (dying for her in the novel) was quasimodo its extremely disgusting how people are like he should be grateful that she wanted to be his friend at all, why is he having expectations, as if he owes her for being his friend cause ugly people don't have friends which is a f**ked up way of thinking esmeralda is a good person but she is not good to the extent of being extraordinarily good she's just a moderately good person in a world full of horrible people quasimodo doesn't automatically owe her anything for doing the right thing(treating him like a normal person and calling out the judge on the heartbreaking festival scene)
I felt like the gargoyles kept pushing a possible romance with esmeralda cause quasi kept denying it but she was the first person to show him kindness and i think it was more being cast aside and left alone again. Obviously she loves him and quasi loves her but felt more of a familal love but i choose Quasi over annoying phoebus anyday
No he shouldn't be grateful, having Esmeralda for a friend isn't good enough no it is not better being friends with a girl, you either have her as a lover or nothing.
Honest to God, I would LOVE to see what it was like to record the argument between Phoebus and Quasi behind the scenes.

And that also reminds me from the other disney movie called the jungle book 2 the sequel when Baloo and Shanti as moglie's girlfriend arguing each other too and it is also funny.

Phoebus: Good good good. Ah. Great! What is it?
To be perfectly honest, I don’t know why everyone acts like Esmeralda is the only decent character in this film - because Phoebus is even better. Let’s face it, even Esme was shocked when she realised Quasi’s face wasn’t a mask. We didn’t see Phoebus’s reaction, so we can only assume that he didn’t react with disgust. Let’s remember Phoebus wants to stop Quasimodo being badly treated by the crowd even BEFORE he meets Esmeralda, so he is in no way influenced by her. Then, anytime Phoebus interacts with Quasi, he’s always polite and treats him as if he’s just another citizen, even attempting to befriend Quasi, which of course Quasi doesn’t accept, until Phoebus saves him at the end. And when he tries to give Quasi credit for warning the gypsies about Frollo because he knows Quasi likes Esme - I’m pretty sure that if Esme had decided she actually loved Quasi, Phoebus would have stepped back for them to be together. Say what you like about the sequel but at least they carried that friendship over with Phoebus obviously trusting Quasi to keep an eye on Zephyr when he and Esme aren’t around and trying to encourage him to be with Madeline - look at that bit at the circus where he grins and nudges Quasi when he realises how smitten Quasi is. And when he insists he does believe Madeline could love Quasi for himself because in his words “anyone could,” implying he believes Quasi is worthy of love. And at the endings for both films, he always looks genuinely happy for Quasi coming out on top.

Disney Phoebus is a practicing future Saint by the way he's acting towards difficult people.
I always chalked it up to Phoebus being a seasoned Veteran and knowing how it is to be the other guy in the places he's been. Quasi may be deformed, but he knew what kind of man he was when they first me A good one. It's logical that they eventually ended up as the best of friends because they share the same values.

Every time I watched this movie as a child, I always heard Quasimodo's words much more than Phoebus's words after the "It's not a map" dialogue and leading up to the "And this is it" part.

They have some similarities with each other. Both were being manipulated by frollo. Both were allied with Esmeralda. Both help Esmeralda to protect frollo’s soldiers and frollo too

They started off as love rivals but later started to get know each other and become great friends and brother figures as well later on in life but still Quasi and Phoebus are a great team trying to save the innocent and destroy or defeat the evil like Frollo or Sarousch right people they try and do what’s right all the way indeed agree
They should have stayed love rivals, Quasimodo had no reason to be friends or brother figures with the guy that won his crushes affections with little effort.

I know Quasimodo feels powerless by Frollo who let him in on his plan and is still affected by how Esmeralda falls for Phoebus.
It funny how phobias has same personality as flynn rider both sarcastic and quick witted but flynn is way better but quazy is like rapunzel in beginning scared of leaving the tower
Why is Flynn way better? I didn't see him sacrifice his life for a family he didn't even know because they were going to die unfairly. I didn't see him going against his orders to kill those people knowing it would cost his life. I didn't see him wanting to stop a public from torture a poor guy because that was cruelty. Phoebus is wayyyy better than Flynn and nothing can convince me otherwise.

@@Marcellacampa1Late reply, but Flynn and Pheobus are both great characters in very different ways. Flynn turned to a life of crime because he was dealt an awful hand in life and didn't have any opportunities, but being around Rapunzel changed him to the point where he was willing to sacrifice his life just so she'd have a fighting chance of reuniting with her family. If we include the TV show, Flynn becomes the captain of the royal guard and has no hesitations with putting his life on the line for the kingdom.
Pheobus is great because he was already well respected and in a position of power, and used his influence and skill to help people instead of taking advantage of them.
No offense Phoebus, but Quasimodo is still hurting from you stealing his girl, so let him vent.
Quasimodo was really concerned whether he should be loyal to Frollo or Esmeralda.

Although Frollo raised Quasi to fear the world, he taught Quasi many right things too. He grew up to be gentle, he has a mindset to use his time productively, and he willingly gives more than to receive more.
A "funny way of showing gratitude?" He helped her escape. He saved Esmerelda AND Phoebus from Frollo. Even though doing so would mean angering the biggest imminent threat in all of Paris.

In a way you're right. Believe it or not Phoebus is a hero in the Disney version but he is a villain in the book by Victor Hugo.
People salty for Quasimodo "losing his girl to Phoebus" when even he got over it quickly, and judging Esmeralda for getting with the handsome guy instead of Quasi are probably incels, lets face it.
We are not incels, we are rightfully frustrated and saddened by the handsome, successful knight winning the girls heart instead of the ugly, long suffering hunchback.

Of all the characters from the novel who actually made it into the movie, Phoebus is the one who was changed the most. In the novel, he's a total scumbag. He's actually far worse than Frollo in that version of the story. Vain, manipulative, womanising and possibly sociopathic considering he just lets Esmeralda die. In this version, Phoebus is basically a saint.

Matt Lanter and Taylor Gray, the voices actors of cartoon Anakin and Ezra, and even Hayden Christensen and Mena Massoud, the actors that they play live action Anakin and Ezra, are very awesome to play them. Matt Lanter First made Vampire Sucks that was the parody of Twilight and Hayden Christensen Is look alike Bad acting while Taylor Gray First made Bucket and Skinner and Thunderstruck and Mena Massoud played Aladdin. Is that because Anakin and Ezra are my favorite Jedi since i watched clone Wars when Anakin was young and Rebels when Ezra was teen
