Probably one of the most criminally underrated bands ever. They should have been big as Poison. They were well ahead of their peers in the songwriting department. I liked poppy metal bands who put a big emphasis on vocal arrangements - like these guys, Saigon kick and Extreme.

    • @w0bbl3r
      @w0bbl3r 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I saw them like 93 or 94 suppporting poison on their Richie Kotzen/native tongue tour.
I never heard of enuff z'nuff before that night, had no idea they even existed. Next day I was out, buying every album they had released to that point.
They were almost as good live as poison were that night. And that was poison with Richie Kotzen, when they were truly great live and far more tight as a band than they were towards the end of the CC Deville days back then.
I don't know as I agree they are one of the most underrated of all time, but they were definitely a great band that never seemed to catch the big break they deserved.
But considering all the addictions and so on in the band, if they became as big as poison, they would have likely died soon after.

Well if they All woulda got along & didn't drink so much to the point of fist fights between them, they prolly would've been as Big as Poison.
Hell, Poison had problems too but they Always came back together for the Music & the Fans. But Chip Never worked with Donnie Again & they were the Magic of the Band.
It was a Dayumm Shame. I saw them Live in a lil club in Fremont, CA around this time & I was Blown Away by The uplifting sounds they were able to produce from Song To Song. So much talent & their Vocals were So Spot on.
One of my Fave Live shows to date.

Derek was always overlooked. I know the core was Donnie ans Chip but Derek adds something no one else did. I happen to love Monaco on vocals or guitar but Derek's playing/sound is something they never captured again.

Thank you for sharing this footage with the superior audio quality. I had this on VHS many years ago but it didn't sound this good. EZN fans know a lot about this legendary venue where they played many nights.
1993 was not a great commercial year for the band and touring was minimal and reduced to small clubs. Except for the UK tour opening for Poison in larger venues.
If you have more of these high quality videos please share. Good luck 🤘🏼

Grew up with these dudes jamming in my speakers. Chip and my Aunt Dawn were great friends. Me and a buddy of mine use to ride our bikes down to Chips house he’d give us records and posters signed. That other friend is the drummer for another known Blue Island band called MEST. Blue Island has put out so much music and still does to this day. This is great video for a show in 1993. Great video glad it was put up. Miss the fuck out of shows at the whale. I also saw Cannible Corpse at the whale. Was a awesome lil bar/show spot!!!

Wasn't all grunge. The band has stated there were lots of factors. Like bad management and many many bad choices in there careers. I like la guns, a kid row and motley crue. But I'll take znuff any day over the others I mentioned. Donnie is 1 of the best song writers ever glad hea still doing his thing

Props to you for posting this! The '80s and '90s were a little bit of a blur but I'm pretty sure I was at this exact show. These guys sound great live and their vocals are spot on almost like the record. That's when you know they just naturally have great voices.. and Johnny and Chip harmonized so well together! I think I saw some 90s obscure metal bands like McQueen Street and Southgang here as well. Bet nobody knows those bands. Ha! Side note, when Animals with human intelligence came out from these guys they played a Best Buy in Schaumburg Illinois. I remember they took some appliances or TVs off of a top rack and the guys played kind of like an acoustic little set and then signed their CDs afterwards. So bummed out that Donnie is not in the Band anymore. He was a rock star in his own right

@@lfh1973 you know, Lorne michaels, the producer for Saturday Night Live, says that people's favorite era of Saturday Night Live is usually the era that they were in high school. For me my favorite time in my life was probably the first six years after high school . I went to Harper College and worked a whole lot but always found time with my friends to go see a show. Such great times and great memories. And when you hear certain songs it just gives you chills and takes you right back sounds like such a cliche but it's so damn true. Cheers!🤘

@@lfh1973 and by the way, I never ran into anybodr, other than my friend of course that I was there with, that remembers that little impromptu promo for their release of their album😜.
And people always say they should have sold millions and millions more albums. Of course I agree but sometimes it's kind of nice to have a couple of bands that only you and a smaller amount of people know about. Kind of like when there's a movie out that everybody's going crazy for and telling you to see, you almost feel turned off just because....🤷‍♂️ that was kind of like what they were for me, I guess. Ha!
