Ridicoulos, the big display supports the same max fields, as a small 530 unit. I don't need those huge size numbers, I need more data fields on 1 screen.
Is the Di2 battery display removed from the options? On my 1030 I have a data field showing my Di2 battery level. Can't seem to find it on the 1040 Solar.
I don't think there is any separate fields for speed from a sensor. I think if you have the speed sensor connected it just defaults to that rather than GPS based speed. Easy way to check would just be to spin the wheel with the speed sensor on whilst stationary.
Sounds like you have the auto pause function turned on - this pauses the device when your speed falls below a set level. I tend to have mine set at around 3mph so it pauses the device when im waiting at junctions and traffic lights (otherwise this impacts on any of your averaged metrics).
To turn off auto pause select the menu option (3 lines bottom right of home page), activity profiles, select the profile you wish eg road, timer, auto pause - then either turn it off or select when stopped or set a custom pause speed - hope that helps
Why is it not possible to add via points to an existing route on Garmin devices? I can click on the map and it will calculate a route. But if i want to add a detour the existing route has to to be stopped. It shouldn't be so complicated.
Instead of removing the screens you don't want displayed during a ride why don't you just toggle off the Show Screen option for each of them? That way they'll still be available for the future (should you want any of them back).
OMG the idiots that designed the Garmin Edge and did not give it to a newb to say, "yes this is easy to use and pick up as a newb"..... Thankyou guys for doing this video, you showed the stupid thing where if you dont touch the screen once after it says "tap to move things", it then does not give you the option to save it!. So thankyou for showing me this!!! OMG yes!
I thought I was going mad. This restored my sanity. There is nothing intuitive about Garmin 1040 Thank you.
Agreed, it’s rubbish - been one of my worst cycling purchases
This is the best video of Garmin setup there's in the Internet. Thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful!

Love your videos, can you help? On my 540 how do you edit the data fields whilst in a training peaks workout.
Hello there. How do you get the Garmin to show you how much distance remaining of a route? Can't seem to find an obvious option. Cheers
Thank you this was a great help

Super vid 🎉

When I look at the fields for speed, the one that just says speed is that GPS speed? How would the speed field from a sensor be differentiated?

The default data screen for workout is terrible, I'd like to see a video of how to set up with things like target RPM and next interval please :)
Hi Mate I got 1040 every time I ride they is symbol Pause and play flashing and beeping sound how do I turn off???

If your native language is not English, set the playback speed to 0.75 😅
Not my cup of tea.
