    Outstanding!! Gents, your depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for these great signets of history is truly inspiring. I have discovered I own a 1941 Mosin M39 w matching SR’s. I bought it in the 90’s for $45 out of a barrel. It has been hanging on a wall or standing around in my shop for nearly two decades while I considered it as only a wall hanger. Clearly I had no idea what I had until I discovered your channel. After cleaning the M39 thoroughly and taking it to the range, it was shooting 1.5” groups at 100yds! You’ve made another convert (now, if we can only hang on to these magnificent pieces of history in the face of the present gaggle of lunatic politicians and limp noodle legislators bent on destroying our passion for our heritage and the world from which it came). Keep up the fine work! It’s time for anyone who sees your vids to hunt down your Patreon site and support you. A couple of quick Q’s: Where can I find deeper information/books/sites on Mosin’s in general; markings, cartouche info, date qty and location of mfgr, who made the barrel mfgr, etc.? What is IMA and could you please post a bit more info on how to access them? Again, thanks for doing such a great job opening this new world to an old shooter!

      +Armymi33 In Switzerland gun shops aren't taking them in any more, because they can't sell them with a profit they are so cheap there, many are getting melted down. It is also too expensive to export them to the US.

    • @MRCL8215
      @MRCL8215 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fear not. Gun shops still take them in. They sell the nice ones for a fairly high price for Swiss standards. The cheaper, not so nice ones just get stored in the back. The K31 is nowadays often used to convert it to a "sniper rifle" with more and more companies producing stock systems for them. Shot out K31s are also used in various experimental builds like K31 pistols or even snuff tobacco machines. Also, my LGS takes in K31s happily and then bulk ships them to the US/Canada if they aren't sold within a certain time frame. Its expensive to ship but he makes a decent profit from it. A K31 only gets molten down via those police trade-ins, which is a real shame but the numbers are really small. But, they also steadily get more expensive here. The K11 is where its at, demand is nil.

    were lucky in Canada, at least when it comes to the SKS rifle. It seems you can pickup a nice clean SKS at ANY gun store for $239.00-$289.00 all day long!! That said though, the Surplus ammo and guns in General seem to be getting harder to find at least from Gun stores, something about the Ukraine and import problems apparently!!

      Nathan Asphyxia I agree. The price is steadily going up and up. You can still find SKS' for cheap prices. It's not easy like before. But they're out there. I was checking some out online today. I found some for $275 all the way up to $550. Although $250 - $300 is way more than a person should have to pay. But it's worth it now a days with all the bans and mandatory buy backs or confiscations coming. The SKS in the stock configuration is usually enough to stay legal in Nazi States like mine. (NYS) Especially the C&R SKS'. This is just my opinion as far as Semi Auto rifles are concerned for shtf in a ban era.

    I'm from Bulgaria, the Makarovs are really popular among the few gun owners here. Getting a gun license is really hard here, given that the country and the people being poor, the Makarov is what most people go for since it's basically the cheapest gun you can buy, usually you can get one for like $150-200 bucks. Anyway, awesome video as always.

      ALAPINO...well said. If people are going to purchase firearms, milsurps , etc. strictly for investments and expecting a decent return on their collection. Then those aren't the brightest people around. There's better and easier ways to let your money make more money. If a person has $50K and has that money invested wisely in the stock market. And willing to let it sit for at least 10 years...never taking any of the money out. You can clean up. Something my Dad taught all his kids early on in life. Whatever your take home pay is, always remove 10% and save it. After about a year goes by, take that money and have it invested in a good mutual fund. Repeat and follow for a few years. Once those mutual funds have added up to a decent amount. Then begin to diversify your portfolio. Continue to always add to it. As the years go by, hopefully you're making more money. So that initial 10% is more. As well as, consider increasing the % you contribute. This is a good way to start your retirement fund. The sooner in life you do this, the better. Regardless how the market does over the years...i.e. Up or Down, even a crash. It will always rebound. Of course as the portfolio grows, you can sell something to purchasing something else. Of course when you're buying stocks from an company and some of your money is out of a mutual fund. Your money will grow significantly over 20, 30, years. A person needs to be disciplined and at the same time creating a simple savings account for rain days, emergencies, things of that nature. You have that savings so you don't have to touch the initial investment you generated over the years and to avoid capital gains taxes too. It's quite simple to do and anyone can doe this. Doesn't matter what their pay scale is. Just start at a young age and remain disciplined and people will be amazed what has amounted over time. .........................My firearms collection is quite extensive and valued quite high. In which I have the collection insured. But I didn't collect as an investment in which I would rely on it some day for retirement purposes. It's a hobby and something I love doing....i.e., anything firearms related. My goal is keep the collection in my family for generations. Provided the 2nd amendment stands for something in the future. And if the 2nd should fall, then I hope that family member(s) go down fighting for the 2A. That said, that's another subject matter to contend with.

      There are ways. Talk to your family. Uncles, grandpa's, cousins may have guns that they don't want, use, or care about and willing to pass them on to you, or sell them cheaply. You can also check pawn shops in some states, even flea markets in some states. You can also haggle with dealers at gun shows. I just picked up a Yugo SKS at a show for $425.00 that he was asking $525.00 for. Some times you get lucky. Also buy surplus ammo for any gun you plan on getting, even if you don't have the gun yet. you can always resell the ammo, but if you buy the gun a couple of years from now, you may not be able to find the ammo for it any more.

      Keep looking, there are good deals everywhere and the reason milsurp costs so much is because people are too lazy to look. South american mausers are still cheep, and very overlooked. Over the past several years, they havent gone up in price much compared to other rifles

    I don't think i could even own a Makarov here because of how short the barrel is. You can own handguns here but you need a restricted arms license but if the barrel is shorter than a certain length or if the magazine holds more than 10 its considered a prohibited firearm which the only way you can have one is if its grandfathered

    • @markatkins9587
      @markatkins9587 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      David Howe you should ban short politicians ! Fair is fair

    • @davidhowe7844
      @davidhowe7844 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here in Canada law states that we can't own a handgun with a barrel shorter than 4" and it can't hold more than 10 rounds. In order to own handguns at all you have to take and pass a course and go through a background check to get your restricted arms license. However handguns with shorter barrels or higher capacity are classed as prohibited and can only be owned if they're grandfathered in or if you're a law enforcement officer. So as nice as Makarovs are I wouldn't even be able to buy one here

      Prices are cheap and if they do ban them you will still be allowed to keep the rifles you already own and your going to need as many AR's as possible for when the gov't comes to take them. Also buying them makes them more popular and thus less likely for them to be banned! Let's make sure that doesn't happen!

    In Canada Ontario. The sks is considered an assault style rifle in which is pretty stupid when it takes 6 bullets only. I had one before but I had to sell it because of the Canadian law. I had one moose with it, no problem. I miss my sks.

    Too bad TH-cam is going to flag this video and destroy your channel. I really enjoyed your videos and if this channel bites the dust I have no choice but to leave TH-cam

    Sir's I have a question. I have a Chicom SKS I brought back from Nam in 1970. All ser.no. match and it has a triangular
    bayonet. It is a battlefield recovery. I think it was made in the early 60's and it is pristine down to the cartouche on the stock. Any help to determine the value so I can insure it would be deeply appreciated. Thanks from a Nam vet.

      You need to have original bringback papers and look at the serial number with arsenal marking. You also should check the matching numbers. Prices can go up towards 700 to 1000 at most. East german amd north korean are the rarest.

    My request is: It would be nice to see some videos made on prepping/survival, like your older videos. They don't have to be long or extravagant, I just think it would just be cool. :)

    My first auto loading pistol was a Bulgarian Makarov and I love it! Please do yourself a favor though and fit one of yours with a Fab Defense PM-G grip with a side magazine release. It feels fantastic in the hand, has good texturing and it’s the answer for those who don’t like the heal release.

    I picked up a Hungarian FEG PA-63 in 9x18 Makarov a couple months ago, in very good condition, for $150 at a local pawn shop. It is fun and cheap to shoot, it is an adequate caliber, and makes for a great rainy day gun that will work.
