Jess James In 185 battles that France had fought over the past 800 years, their armies had won 132 times, lost 43 times and drawn only 10. Giving the French military the best record of any country in Europe. Armies weren't the issue in WW2 but rather aging generals and stupid politicians (wich is unfortunately a tradition...) French surplus firearms are in great shape because most of them have been rebuilt...
zepedrofd That is the correct answer, yes. It is also the not funny answer; the french are caricatured as constantly acquiescing to foreign aggressors so it makes a funny story whether or not it is true it is fun to imagine that a nation would always roll over as its first response.
warmowed I do get it is funny! Even the french make fun of the WW2 disaster! Kind of like: in history, never has an army marched this fast...backwards! :p It's just that some do believe it. And considering how small the country is, no wrong in being proud of doing alright!
My great grandad served in both world wars , he was 15 in the first one, he went to sign up and the recruiter asked his age ,when he said 15 he said "sorry I didn't hear you ,did the say 18?" . My grandfather said he was a troubled man until the day he died
yea man ww1 was fucked. they let any kid with dropped balls go fight and die. i guarantee a few years later those kids would have had something theyd want to live for. fuck wars man. fuck
I had one i paid $80 back then i celebrated my 18th birthday and bought me one. It was the norinco with wood guard and spike bayonet. Now their all in the $300 range. So any surplus guns are worth buying. They all just keep going up in value. I remember just several years ago Mosins were $75 now their easily double that or more. I need to get one of those and a and a enfield before they get sky high. Id really like a garand or mauser but their too expensive now.
whatfreedom7 I would highly recommend a mos in nagant my dad has an SKS with a super fancy stock that allows detachable mags he's got a holographic sight with a special weaver mount that allows for use of the iron sight as well he has a 30 round mag and a laser/flashlight combo my m91/30 mosin has a archangel stock with two 10 round mags and if he offered to trade me for my mos in I'd say no freaking way. he's even confessed to wanting one the mos in is a fantastic rifle that if treated right will never fail you as no jams no miss fires nothing like that has ever occurred to me when firing my mosin (that is until I put it in a archangel stock but I've just about got it running perfect again just need to do some more tweaking) in my honest opinion I would take a mos in over any of those guns I would even take it over an AR of any variety and surplus ammo is like $5 for 20 rounds even the higher end ammo that has brass casing and steel tips can be bought at the dreaded wal-mart for $11.99 for 20 rounds so yeah a great rifle all around even if the m91/30 is a little.... long let's just say I'm 6ft tall and with the bayonet attached it stands up to my eyebrows though in wartime it makes sense to me as you get extra distance between you and the guy your stabbing
No flashhider or bayonet. I bought mine shortly after some kind of restriction was put on imports. I do not know if it a norinco, it has Chinese lettering on it.
I have a Korean SKS. My great grandad brought it back from the Korean war and I love it. My dad isn't the biggest fan but I absolutely love it. 7.62X39 on a semi auto platform that can take 10-30 round mags and stripper clips. I absolutely love it. I like it better than my Ar-15. It's amazing.

K98K is far underestimated. It's more powerful than the 30.06...more penetrating power with the full power 196 grain projectiles...people are still behind the times in America...American manufactures download it due to the .318 inch pre 1905 barrels and liability issues...after 1905 the Germans went to the .323 inch barrels...I'm sure you know the full story...

My great grandfather fought in France during the First World War, he was in the Australian Army, and he used the Lee Enfield as his main service rifle, along with his brothers and fellow soldiers. Even though suffering two facial injuries, that masterpiece of a rifle saved his life from the Germans. After I obtain a firearms class A and B firearms license,, or a firearms collector license, I am going to buy a Lee Enfield, and put it in a cabinet, honouring my great grandfather's service in the First World War.
you do not need a class A license to buy a Lee Enfield. Nor a Class B...I dont think you even know what those are. A class B forbids you to carry a concealed handgun. Im sure the rules are different where you are from but where i live, the Enfield is a cash and carry rifle.
TheHurtShoulder Australia mate need a cat a or b licence to own any single single shot or repeating centerfire or rimfire rifle, plus air rifles and break action shotguns, no such thing as cash and carry here 😂
Barbaren Baum My apologies. I had forgotten that there are a number of people viewing the video whom are not possibly fully conversant with firearms. You have raised an excellent and valid point.:)
arriviste2020 that doesnt have anything to do with knowledge about anything, this has to do with dark objects in front of an dark background. Even if I was a gun expert, I could be interested in details on the weapon and then it would be impossible for me to spot any details.
Barbaren Baum Your excellent point is well taken and I apologize if I gave the impression that it had been taken lightly. You have the advantage of me.:)

6.5x55 Swedish Mausers are the creme of the crop, in my opinion! I have three of them, and all three are outstanding shooters! Back in the day, I bought one of them from Woolworth's, of all places, for only $79.00!! Those days are gone forever, sadly. Still, the Swedes are excellent rifles and carbines, and I would choose them first, last, and always!!
I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada. 2 weeks ago I went to Canadian tire and payed $200 for a never fired 1954 Tula SKS. About time us Canucks get a deal on guns!
+Horatio Huffnagel I don't think it's a tease as much as a joke. I grew up in a family that ate wild game most of the time. We always had guns in the house and from an early age I was taught to shoot and handle a weapon properly and with respect. I agree with what the firearms coarses teach. I also agree with the background check but I disagree with governing the firearms like they do. I believe we should be able to purchase a firearm exactly how it was designed with the ammo limit the magazine was designed for. I know that statement will trigger debate but as far as I'm concerned I'm right and I don't care what anyone says. The politics behind our firearm laws are made by people that don't have a clue what they are talking about. Same with the pohibited law. It's stupid and makes no sense. I would wrather be screened more thoroughly and be able to collect than to be told I can't because I didn't have an FAC before 1992.
+Geoff Clark they just want to ban those things because they are things that allow you to fight more effectively, and be able to defend yourself against modern threats, and the gov doesnt want that, they dont care about the peoples saftey, they just want to disarm us so we arent capable of defending ourselves. our right to bare arms is mainly so if our government works against us or is tyrannical, then we can destroy the old currupt gov and replace it with a new better one. thats what the founding fathers and the framers of the Constitution wanted, but i would be called unamerican and a terrorist for beliving in our rights are more important than protecting ourselves from the curremt boogyman (osama bin laden, talaban, and now isis)
+ferrariteddy I agree with you to a point. If a government is going to disarm it's people it will do so by stopping the production of ammunition. A gun is only a weapon when there is a round in the chamber. It would be way to costly to go home to home and remove the weapons. That's why I say, ammunition. It's way easier to create a shortage.
Geoff Clark I'm from Edmonton too. First rifle was an SKS. Paid 185$ for 1954 Tula and it came with the ammo pouches, cleaning kit, sling, some stripper clips and was still packed in cosmoline. A very old gun, but brand new haha.
I remember the SKS and AKs going for the cost of a cheap dinner for two. I missed out on the AKs because the price actually scared me off of them. I thought that something must be wrong. I snatched an SKS as the price began to rise and the ubiquity began to fall. I really love how smooth the SKS fires. It is one of my favorite rifles. I picked up my M44 just as the prices jumped into the $70 range. Being an avid shotgunner, I thought “How hard can the kick be?” I took a recoil pad off of an old single shot 12 gauge and put it on “Big Ivan” after finding out. ;)
"Enfields don't weather real well! ... ahahaha ... ahahaha How exactly should a 100 years old rifle that served in multiple World Wars look pray tell? Oh ... brand new?
The guns made by Germany pre WW2 and during up until about 1943 were tooled a little different than the other mausers, they are brutally accurate and the K98K or Kurtz which means Short is a rare bird, I have a SS issued K98 with its originally scope all intact and fully functional, it pairs very well with my Nagant, 1903, and No4 MK1 Enfield
You can if it is a 1917 enfield. But that uses a mauser action not the enfield action. But if you look at the video date that might also explain it. I know one of the Local buy backs and estate seizures seen 20+ true british enfields destroyed. Alongside a couple of M1928~ Thompson SMGs.
Stephen King Its not to hard you can find sportarized models that are much cheaper because the stock was modified to be a hunting gun so these are cheaper because they are not original
I recently paid $450 for a no4 mk2 the seller also had an Indian made Enfield he was selling for $350 I passed over because it was a training rifle, keep a look out and try negotiating on price. Good luck with your search!
Stephen King I bought one in 1964 @ 15 dollars, another one in 1970 for 19 dollars in 1980 they were going for 200 dollars . Yea where can you buy one for less than 500 dollars , good question
I love my Mosin Nagant 91/30, but I would like any of the others presented in the video. These older weapons just have a aggressive tough look, can take a lot of abuse and still perform. And owning a piece of history is cool.
As French citizen, i known very well the MAS 49-56 semi automatic rifle (rifle retired sinze 1989): i love this rifle, realy pleasant to use, i had a sniper version (with scope) during my army service, but now as civilian in France is such "war rifle" very difficult to buy and shot (and cost 3 times more as in the USA!)...The MAS 49-56 is the result from a long evolution: first was the MAS40 prototype (program launch in 1938!) , but model 40 was never launch because WW2, during the war was secretly the weapon improved and the model MAS44 was lauch in production immediatly after liberation from the MAS factory and 6300 rifles was delivered to french "commandos marine" end 1945.The final development was the MAS49, who had ~the same lenght as the MAS36 bolt rifle, but so after some use, main in jungle (Vietnam) the military see that a more compact rifle was better, and in addition as grenade launcher, so was made the MAS49-56 "carbine"...
I have had C&R licenses for over 25 years. I have focused on mainly bolt actions with Mausers and Enfields being my favorites. With the Mauser there are so many different models and calibers from different countries
They are great I bought one about 5 years ago so worth it I have even put German 1942 rounds through it just a few . Smelly and a little smokey but historically cool as shit
No, they were not "cool". WWII was not a video game. Real people, combatants, innocents, no matter, died, were wounded, suffered unimaginable pain. So, not cool.
Haha, here in switzerland You'll get the K31 from 20 bucks upwards. If You pay 100 or 150, Youll get one in almost perfect condition with bayonett in matching serial number. The K31 will eat all this other guns in accuracy. Not only because it's way more precise manufactured, but because it's trigger is almost perfect to use.
Looking for a K31 but I have a 1911 long rifle this is stellar. Bolt is smooth, bore shines, and it's rather soft shooting for a full power rifle round.
I love mine! I have a k98, first real gun I owned, I love it too but it's worn looking, functions great tho, have a yugo sks, heavy, it's not an AK, but that's not a bad thing, solid gun for sure, and a few nagant variants, I actually really like them too, but they are exactly what they were made to be, a cheap high power rifle... With a god awful spike on the end! But clearly my k31 stands out as my best gun, it's a masterpiece! If they were more available in the states, and an aftermarket industry devolved, they could be very popular! People love ugly black plastic and awkward "tactical" grips and so forth... Count me out, give it a mounting rail and go! You got a great long range rifle... It is heavy but it's so solid and rifles from that era are just heavy... But they're scarce here, rarely complete, especially no bayonet or kit with it and ammo isn't as easy to find or cheap as these other rifles... I'd love to be able to poke around and be picky... And buy another for $200!
@@punjivr I just don't like them, they're crudely made and ulgy as sin, I guess they're not bad rifles but they lack the beauty of other milsurps and being a 10 shot 7.62x39 it just feels like a neutered AK
yep they was long time underestimated, up to some discover that the MAS36, MAS44 and MAS 49-56 are excellent...In France cost a standard MAS 49-56 minimum 1500€, and much more in the rare sniper version...
For those of us who live in parts of the world where semi-auto rifles are either severely restricted or outright banned, the MAS-36 is worth a look, instead of the MAS-49. Also, in countries such as Australia, which did not adopt the No.4 Lee Enfield, it is possible to find SMLE MkIII*s made in the early 1950s, but you have to shop around a fair bit. Otherwise, you are probably better off getting a No.4.
Here's a couple of guys that share my hobby. I've been collecting military surplus rifles for a while now and have 4 of the six shown here. The Enfield, SKS, and Mosin are my favorites of the bunch shown. Prices are steadily rising on all of them.
I love the mosin, it’s a solid gun with good accuracy and it’s very reliable. It’s also a great piece of history as it’s the gun that defended Stalingrad against Nazi Germany.
I used the enfield in competition against semi auto and yes, they do fire quickly if you practice with them. My team won a few matches against the semis in part due to the heavier bullets, but also because the rapid cycling allowed us to keep up to the rate of fire. By weight I mean the heavier bullets would knock over steel plates even with an off center hit, while the .223 sometimes did not knock them over, the excuse from the .223 guys that I heard anyways. Besides, at 300 yards you need to take a second to aim anyways, so the rate of fire is not that much of a hindrance with the BA, if you cycle it quickly without moving it away from your point of aim and keep your cheek weld.
+TFB TV all you need to do is get a hunting license, then a weapons license (wich require a valid reason), then you need to get a contract from the sumpreme court or somethin like that to import it and then you have to file all the right application forms to import it and be there in person to pick it up on drop off, if ur not its confiscated, and tada simple as that.
Well actually old Mausers are pretty rare in Sweden. I guess what you are thinking of is the m98 and m38 models manufactured by Husqvarna and Carl Gustav (a few of m96 were actually made by Mauser). They are designed of a mix of pre 98 Mauser and yes they are and should be quite sheap.
@@johnjriggsarchery2457 i own a 100% original matching number ww2 mosin with matching PU scope. The bolt is pure shit. blue Wheels my mate owns and Lee Enfield SMLE Mk 3. In the U.K. Surplus .303 is apparently easier to get than .22LR which here in the U.K. Is widely available. It's surprising aswell because when he was in America he said that a man told him .22LR is harder to get.
Lord Ollie - Yeah, .22LR has gone up in price here in the States as of late. It hasn't really affected me, as my dad hoarded several 500 round boxes back when they were cheap. Sadly, .303 British has gotten quite expensive here as well.

I recently purchased the beautiful six digit serial number Springfield 1903 for $1500, that gun is a showpiece and will only increase in value

I don't even mind the trigger pull on it.
Jimmy Russels That wasnt it, out of the hole deal I got 4 mausers, a jungman, 2 sportorized Lee Enfields and a WW2 Garand Bayonet for around $500. You just gotta look hard! I also picked up an Egyption FN 49 with bayonet for $300!!!
German here, got some bad looks when saying I want a historic Mauser. All I really want is a rifle with some history, with an identity for hunting. Something to use and care for and preserve. Not [Insert generic AR Platform here].
Dad was a WW2 soldier who because of just surviving was put in charge of a gun squad . He was an extreme marksman but also had an understanding of guns that still amazes me. He was offered or given a Thompson but gave it to one of his men . He carried the M1 Grande. He praised the rifle ,but when it came time to me buying a rifle it was a bolt . I had a chance to buy a German Mauser but just as I was about to bid I thought of how many times he took fire from one ,so I passed. He was very updated in the function and other than the M1 had many negative comments about vintage rifles . He was an extreme marksman and function was everything. The first high power I bought made him grin from ear to ear. He chose the caliber . The rifle was a Remington model 700 mountain rifle 270W Fully checkered synthetic stock and free floated which he made a reference to comparing to the rifles in the war . He said I always thought all that wood wasn't any good and especially running it all around the barrel. The English ran it all the way to the end. This 700 is the way to go. Shooting and hitting was everything to him and obsolete was just that. He was a Belgium Browning guy and did comment that the Mauser had the best steel even against his M1. Antiques are for the wall but a rifle is to shoot and hit. Didn't know but when dad mentioned free floated his said " You know you can Glass and bed some older rifles too" . I'd pick the German Mauser and Glass it and it wouldn't look any different on the wall but would out shoot everything you have . 😎
+Ben Long Ben, perhaps in an attempt to keep this country from going the way your country did, we simply have a "hands and eyes off" attitude toward the firearms we own. In a world where responsible gun owners are having to constantly fight to preserve this right...it's just nobody's business.
I still don't understand why one can purchase an SVT40 for a decent price and they're plentiful... It's not like it's Chinese!! That's the one rifle I really want... I would trade one of my M1 Garands for one
1967, on an end cap shelving at the local KMART, German 98, 8 mm for $17.95...good old days. Had a swiss "T" bolt, 303, and I don't see one of my favorites.. The Hakim SA rifle. Thanks for the walk back to the good ol' days...
Tbh, I love the mosin, despite its issues. They’re dirt cheap, ammo is common enough, they shoot accurate enough, and they’re just fun to fire, overall.
I got an M48 for $275 about 6 mos ago. It has nice finish and shoots reasonably accurate. Yugo Mausers are underrated. As are some of the South American Mausers.
I've heard you can sell a Swedish m/96 Mauser in the US for over 1500-2000$ if you have a nice one. Meanwhile in Sweden, you're lucky if you can even get $50 for it.
Ah, so that's where the money is at then. Still, back home, these things are treated with disdain and mistrust due to what they call "glass recievers". Apparently many were found to have cracks in the area around the chamber and magazine (microscopic level), and using them as hunting weapons to hunt Class 1 (Moose and similar) animals can apparently cause catastrophic failure.
MatteV2 Very odd. Swedish Mausers are held in very high regard by most folks who collect vintage rifles. I have one and it is one of my favorite antique guns I own, and I regularly use it to ring a little steel plate at 300 meters :)
The thing about the Mauser is that it has a fairly narrow bore, combine that with the increased pressure of modern ammunition loads used for class one hunting compared to what it was rated for 100 years ago, and you have something rather dangerous on your hands. Of course it's perfectly safe as long as you use similarily rated ammo as the Swedish army used to shoot through it, but I'd be very careful trying anything with more of a wallop. And it is a very smooth shooting gun. The 6.5x55 Mauser cartridge is accurate, powerful enough, and very soft on the recoil.
If i could describe this informative video in one word in every subject talked about the video it would be amazing, keep it up guys you've got my subscription
Back in the days when Sears sold guns, I worked there during a semester off from school. They got some Mauser 98s in and I bought a 1909 Argentine model for 49 dollars and also got the employee discount!
I think what people forget about the 'Mad Minute' is that it was a concept propagated during wartime, as much intended to intimidate the Germans as anything. That said historically there is a record of German soldiers did indeed say that they thought they were under fire from machine-guns when in fact it was rapid volley fire from Lee Enfield's. It's part of the mythology of a wonderful rifle.
Stephen Beat - It was essentially a spray and pray tactic. Alot of people trying the mad minute aim too much which slows them down. 50 soldiers getting off 1000 to 1500 rounds would be damn intimidating.
Stephen Beat That was at the Battle of Mons during the initial phase of the Great War. Its most probably down to accurate rapid fire from a body of men all at once than from individual soldiers firing "mad minutes".
John S Good point John, and this does raise another aspect of the 'Mad Minute' issue. It was designed - in part - to be most effective in conjunction with volley fire drill. I think too may people have gone on a wild goose chase thinking that the 'mad minute' was some sort of rapid fire marksmanship skill - it wasn't. It was designed for a lot of men of average marksmanship (or even less, given the reliance on volunteers in the early stages of WW1) to be able to put a lot of fire downfield very quickly, and that's all!
Stephen Beat yes there is no way you could really hit anything firing at that speed, its more for its suppression value I don't think it was something that was done that often though, particularly after the adoption of lighter machine guns like the Lewis Gun and things
About 3 years ago I bought a 1954 Chinese made M38 Mosin Nagant for $200 at Gander Mountain. The wood is beaten up but that is one of the things I love about it. It has a 17.5" barrel and works every time. My only problem is stripper clips don't seem to want to feed properly. It is NOT an all number matching gun.
I have a 1943 K98 and many at the range stopped after my first shot and for the second they were watching me to see what I was shooting. It is a lot different than the typical 5.56.
I've got a 1929 Mosin with the hex receiver. I've added the Archangel polymer stock, which mounts 10-round removable magazine, along with the Timney trigger which is designed to fit inside the Archangel stock. It was factory-set by a gunsmith to have about a 1/8" pull, and a 1.5' pull weight. I've Picatinny rails on top and bottom, and am employing a bipod, turn-down bolt, and ATACR scope (which costs about as much as my entire gun collection!). Also added an AR-15 sling (the stock has three attachment points for the mounts). Note that I was a sniper in Vietnam, and I'm getting solid groupings at ranges of 1000-2000 yards, using modern Winchester-Western ammo. When I bought the rifle, it was before Obama's ban on the importation of the Mosin-Nagant, and I bought this rifle for $75. It was the only thing he ever did FOR me. And no ... I will not sell!
Big 5 had hex top mosins a few years ago for $150 on Black Friday. They are a really overpriced store but I picked one up anyway.... I should have gotten 3.
I got very nice M1 for $165 (inc shipping) through the (D)CMP in 1989. She’s still my favorite milsurp. I also remember ads at that time in the old ‘Shotgun News’ for K98s, Enfields & German Mausers $100 each. Ah...the “good old days”.

Armies weren't the issue in WW2 but rather aging generals and stupid politicians (wich is unfortunately a tradition...)
French surplus firearms are in great shape because most of them have been rebuilt...
zepedrofd
That is the correct answer, yes. It is also the not funny answer; the french are caricatured as constantly acquiescing to foreign aggressors so it makes a funny story whether or not it is true it is fun to imagine that a nation would always roll over as its first response.

Around 1994 I paid $99 for my Chinese SKS. I wish I would have bought dozen of them.

Cool story
you do not need a class A license to buy a Lee Enfield. Nor a Class B...I dont think you even know what those are. A class B forbids you to carry a concealed handgun. Im sure the rules are different where you are from but where i live, the Enfield is a cash and carry rifle.

+Geoff Clark It sucks balls we cant strip ten rounds into it. 5 rounds is a tease.
Being an avid shotgunner, I thought “How hard can the kick be?” I took a recoil pad off of an old single shot 12 gauge and put it on “Big Ivan” after finding out. ;)

I see the MAS rifles are now commonly into the four digits in cost. :(
yep they was long time underestimated, up to some discover that the MAS36, MAS44 and MAS 49-56 are excellent...In France cost a standard MAS 49-56 minimum 1500€, and much more in the rare sniper version...
I wonder how much a certain Francophile gun nerd contributed to that popularity. :)

Oh god, look the series of bloke on the range about mad minuteman. The k31 comes first slightly ahead of the lee.
My grandpa has 3 SKS that he got in 1992 for 250 and they are my favorite guns that he has.
I have a MAS 49/56 in .308 and it is very reliable. No FTE or FTF yet after several hundred rounds. Fantastic rifle.
Having checked a few of these out, youd be damned lucky to find them under 500 now.
Oh look! Five awesome cheap rifles!
And a mosin nagant!
lies, the mosin is superbly useful, i`ve got one propping open my garage door............
There is a reason the mosin is called the garbage rod
Because it's cheap, rugged, and accurate enough to hunt with? Neither of you own one, I bet.
@@johnjriggsarchery2457 i own a 100% original matching number ww2 mosin with matching PU scope.
The bolt is pure shit. It's really hard to open at times if you want to reload because it doesn't want to go fully back jamming the clip at times.
I don't want to mess with it because im scared it might get ruined.
@@Mister_Fancypants you probably have a slight bend in the bolt. Not uncommon for a well used Mosin. A good smith can machine it for a few bucks.
In the 90's we used to get Lee Enfields with 50 rounds of ammo, pulled out of cosmoline for 50$
sucks watching this in 2024 where I can't find a mosin of any kind for under $700, and having already purchased a yugo sks for $600, can't catch a break man.
I don't care about the how much a surplus rifle is, I care about the cost of the ammo for it.
blue Wheels my mate owns and Lee Enfield SMLE Mk 3.
Angelo P. I got a box of 20 steel case ammo for my Mosin Nagant for like 12 bucks.
Christian Vlogs damn 308 is the same price where I live
Afro Man Lucky. 308 is like $17 for a good box.
Mausers are great, the open sights are amazing, action is beautiful, looks great, the only issue is they are heavy and hard to haul all day hunting

same
What do you mean by that?
Hamza Zaman German guns are very well made is what he means
***** I didn't say they were the best. but I think the mosin is way better
As Jeremy Clarkson puts it, 'the Germans are great at solving problems that were never there in the first place '
Hey guys I bought a moisn- nagent in the 70s and still use it for big game like moose and caribou .i modified it with a composite stock with a pistol grip also had the bolt modified and bent like the lee enfield . I also added a 4 power fixed scope . I did this modification because I have rheumatoid arthritis in both hands ,I also added a muzzle brake to lessen the impact it kicks like a mule . Oh yes it was new never issued carbine and I love it .i paid 100 bucks for it at the time people told me I was nuts to desecrate the rifle like that but hey I get more moose than my buddies .love your videos keep up the good work .
Glaring omissions include the Swede M96 and Finn M39.
Swede M38, yeah
Swede M96 is a great sniper rifle conversion. I one I rebuilt, don’t miss with it. SKS, the Russian version are solid and make great rifles to upgrade. Got three SKS’s early 90’s under $85 bucks.
m39s can be pricey, but they are the best mosins ever made by far. They compete with swiss rifles of the time for marksmanship.
I have had many French MAS M1949/56 semi and MAS M1936 bolt rifles and they are superb firearms with fine accuracy for their old designs, and my reloads with these rifles make 3 in. groups all day with these rifles and one of my M1949/56 is set up with a 9x scope and she's a 1 1/2 in group ! Nice.. Well, my grand'pa (mother side) fought in the French army, and my other grand'pa (Alsatian father side) enlisted in the WAFFEN-SS.. I have several photo of them together. C Gleisberg Well it's true there are a lot of Dumb Asses here, the liberal Socialists (Dems) almost all hate the military !! When I got back to the States from Afghan. after fighting in "Helmand Province" Garmsir, etc in 2008-09' four of us were finishing dinner at this nice sports bar and we were being ragged on by about 7-8 of these drunk loud mouthed collage types and they followed us outside with their liquid courage !! We tried to walk a way but they insisted on a conflict --- and they got one , 4 Marine vets against drunken fools we made short work of it !! I have both a Mosin Nagant that still had the factory cosmoline in it when I got it and an M53 carbine, both numbers matching. I only spent $90 for the M53 and $110 for a spam can of ammo and I got the Mosin for cleaning a friend of mines guns while he was having some nerve issues. I love them both.

I have Kar 98k, Made in 1938, and has 3 swastikas in it. That's pretty cool.
I had one rebarreled in 308and all the nazi stamps were over stamped for the Israeli military. Nice bush gun.
I built some locks for my neighbor and he gave me an old rifle he had laying around for 50 years in his basement. Well that old rifle is a Springfield ought 3 that after a bit of research to understand the stamps on it , was in both world wars. Serial number 5005xx and rebarreled in 44. Shoots just fine
at the end of 2021 I purchased the Mosin-Nagant for $700 and I also purchased a Mauser for $600. within six months the Mosin-Nagant has gone up to about $1,000. I recently purchased the beautiful six digit serial number Springfield 1903 for $1500, that gun is a showpiece and will only increase in value
People laughed at me when I said 1200$ mosins…. I told them to wait lol
Making me go too tears... 2 years later almost all of these are all over $500 now...
sad but true.
The sound of a Mauser bolt action is classic.
k31 is the best, and also got the best world wide safety systems
A nice SKS is now around $450 near me. A Mosin, regardless of model/year range from $250-450. The Enfield is now about $500-600. The rest I have never seen for sale near me. We have about 30 gun stores within an hour drive of my house and they don't seem to carry much for old surplus rifles. It's all ARs, overpriced AKs, and walls of shotguns
A Mauser for 20-30 Dollars....WHAT??? I saw one at Cabelas for about 600 bucks. What the fucking F, man. I wouldnt even put the Mauser on there because you can't get them that cheap everywhere.
Also, not wanting to own a German rifle because it was a part of the Third Reich is fucking ridiculous. Just goes to show how brainwashed and hyper-politically correct our shitty society has become.
Also Also, the Mosin and SKS should be in the list. Fucking period. You can still get a Mosin for roughly 100 bucks, it's tough as hell, and fires a large cartridge. I don't even mind the trigger pull on it.
Jimmy Russels they are in the list.
but ya fuck the price of a mauser today is just ludicrous.
Jimmy Russels I just bought 4 for $40 each, here in Canada. It was a private sale tho. Some old guy. Guess I just got lucky!
BakeCakeMake Fake I'm super jealous, seriously.
I can still find yugos in the 200 dollar range.
German here,
got some bad looks when saying I want a historic Mauser.
All I really want is a rifle with some history, with an identity for hunting. Something to use and care for and preserve.
Not [Insert generic AR Platform here].
Oooooooooooooooof I feel ya man
You guys really undersold how amazing k31s are, I've shot most of those guns and the k31 is by far the most pleasurable to take to the range
The mad minute exists. My grandfather was witness to it. He was in England during time in the green berets and saw it performed by SAS members
The SMLE doesn't "weather" well because they've generally seen service.
"He said he likes it more than the Garand" Treason
Does the French rifle come with a white flag attachment?
A55WIPE1981 LOL!!!
Oof
Goes on instead of a bayonets
Ouch right in the croconts

how many guns are in each of your collections in total?
+Ben Long Why would anyone ever answer that?
+Ben Long What the hell kinda question is that?
I'm from England!
We can't own any guns!
I don't understand how this is inappropriate.
Please explain.
+Ben Long Ben, perhaps in an attempt to keep this country from going the way your country did, we simply have a "hands and eyes off" attitude toward the firearms we own. In a world where responsible gun owners are having to constantly fight to preserve this right...it's just nobody's business.
+Ben Long OK i think i understand. Thanks for clarifying and not just getting mad. Sorry i asked.

Tbh, I love the mosin, despite its issues. They’re dirt cheap, ammo is common enough, they shoot accurate enough, and they’re just fun to fire, overall.
Mosin-Nagant rifles are no longer "dirt-cheap."
That YUGO- Mauser is M48 zastava rifle. Cool expensive rifle.
@Stephen Carran In SERBIA, 2009 destroed 20000 M48 rifle.
@Stephen Carranf ... Idiots. To old !
+MatteV2 I bought a nice one for $300 once. Really nice ones go for $500 and sniper versions with scope go for $1500 or so.
MatteV2
Very odd.
+MatteV2 - I will pay $150 each for all that you can send to me. Seriously.
If i could describe this informative video in one word in every subject talked about the video it would be amazing, keep it up guys you've got my subscription
I bought a Mauser K-98K in mid-1997, for about $149.00. Nowadays, there about 400 plus. Ammunition is also a problem these days.
Back in the days when Sears sold guns, I worked there during a semester off from school. They got some Mauser 98s in and I bought a 1909 Argentine model for 49 dollars and also got the employee discount!
stanley kaplan My Dad talks about when you could order a Garand from a Sears catalog for under 400.
Kojjk
Stephen Beat
yes there is no way you could really hit anything firing at that speed, its more for its suppression value
I don't think it was something that was done that often though, particularly after the adoption of lighter machine guns like the Lewis Gun and things
I love my 98k it even came with a bullet lodged in the stock
About 3 years ago I bought a 1954 Chinese made M38 Mosin Nagant for $200 at Gander Mountain. The wood is beaten up but that is one of the things I love about it. It has a 17.5" barrel and works every time. My only problem is stripper clips don't seem to want to feed properly. It is NOT an all number matching gun.
Hi, I come from the future. Good luck finding any of them.
Whoa I'm still stuck in 2015
I’m here watching watching this in 2024 just to cry
I love seeing how people react after I fire my Mauser when they are all shooting there new weapons lol
Guys... i got so deep in the comments i forgot to watch the video..
So like none of these are cheap, if even available, at this point.
I bought my M1 Garand (1944) from CMP back in 2009 for around $500 and had a nice 3 inch group at 100 yards in and near the bullseye.
