In 99', as a child possibly about to die from cancer, I remember looking at New Edge Mustangs in Car and Driver™ thinking this is a sexay ass car!! 19 years later I ended up with one.. 🔥🔥
I have a 2000 with the v6 in it. Put a stroker kit in the 3.8. Now it is a 4.3 L turbocharged. The engine can handle 20 lbs of boost. Set mine up for 15. Did a shift kit for the auto. And replaced the rear with an 8.8. The built up the suspension. It is a lot faster and handles. Most people don't know that the v6's are 100 lbs lighter up front than the V8's were. It helps a lot.
Wow you are the first guy who said anything nice about owning a v6. I did what you did I loved the 03 zinc yellow v6 convertible I had and got something better later on. I think it’s about the passion of the car not the HP.
I started with a 00’ V6 and put almost 190,000 miles on it before I sold it. The car was incredibly fun to drive and reliable af. I was inspired by that green Kenny Brown V6 - Maybe some of you remember it? I upgraded to a Terminator later on, then a GT. I can honestly say though that I have the fondest memories with that little V6 over the other two.
the sn95 were pathetic and the s197 were not much better until the 3.7 cyclone update, at least the s197 4L looked nice and witha dual exhaust could sound alright and be fun but 190hp ? when you can get beat by civics that’s why people hate, modern civics can beat the sn95 mustangs, that’s pathetic, at least the s197 4L can beat them pretty well
PanchoPann race any civic si 2006 and up and you will get put away easily, i doubt you even try and race your car because it’s as fast as normal everyday cars, i got no hate towards v6 mustangs they’re fun and all, i owned one but after upgrading to a much better car that beats out even the s550 mustang v6s, you realize how much you’re getting short ended with a car that doesn’t do anything well and the one thing it looks like it’s supposed to be and is made for isn’t done well at all either
Its better to start with v6 than v8 . Kinda to avoid stupidity or showup , a v6 will make you more shy cause its not that powerful. So when u upgrade to v8 u became more respectful to others.
Yairon Sanchez You are aware that the 3.7 V6 Mustang has the same and in some cases more HP than the 2010 and older Mustang GT cars right? I used to to have a 2015 3.7 that would smoke 2010 and older V8 GT Mustangs unless they were molded.
Michael Reitz na duh the v6 2011-up has 300hp stock while the older v6 has 200-220hp, while the Gt's only made 270-310 stock as they were coming out those years. The terminator made only 390 stock but with a pulley and headers you can get 500-600hp depending on the setup
Its not about hp , its about ego ..... its alway better start from the bottom then climb to the top. It will make you a better person and car enthusiast. When you own a v6 you will know you place between mustang society, upgrading to a v8 u will know hos to treat v6 without being a dick. I started with a 04 v6, then 04gt currently 18 gt. Im tired of seen people saying that v6 or eco mustang aren't real mustang... while they drive a stock gt base model......
Btw 99-04 gt has 280hp out factory, u can get a lot out it , on other hand v6 09 wont do much with base bolts , only procharge and turbos will improve it numbers.
Just found a 2004 V6 Mustang with Automatic Trans. and only 67,000 miles! Got it for a little over $5,000. The taxes were less than $300. The insurance is relatively inexpensive too. I'm glad to be back in the saddle and really don't care that it's not a GT. 🐎
I actually had a 2004 V6 mustang as my first car and it was super fun and super comfortable, sure they don’t go fast but hey, I enjoyed driving it. Now I have a 97 Mustang GT but my old V6 mustang will always hold a special place in my heart
Why would anyone be ashamed. I have an 02 gt but I've had 3.8s that were respectable and I'm actually helping my buddy build his 97 3.8 into a stroker blower motor. 4.2 splitport procharged should go 11s
Aaron Wilson because stock 3.8’s are trash unless you want to throw thousands of $$$$ at it to have the same power as a v8. I have a 99 3.8 and yes the things a grandma car
Started with a 97 v6 3.8 only having drove 4 banger Honda's beforehand. Let me just say that it's still my favorite car. I prefer it over my coyote. Not because it was my first mustang, but because its reliable and gets way better gas mileage than my big coyote. Ive had more issues with the yote than ive ever had with the 22 year old v6.
I’m used to these Honda 4 bangers too, I wanted a v8 but I have hope this v6 ima get is gonna be fun but I do plan on swapping to something else eventually
I got a 2010 v6, no point in trying to make it sound or look like a v8 cause at the end of the day its still a v6 under the hood, just be proud of your ride because real car people respect all cars that are tastefully done.
My first Mustang was 95 V6. It actually will top out at 144 mph. Have a lot memories in that girl. She's treated me well over the years. She bern sitting for the past few years. Waiting on my kids to use as there first car. But, as they already know. That car will forever stay with me. To many memories to let go. Yes, I've always wished I'd bought the V8 version. But, I've owned 84, 87, 99 GT. Still have the 99 GT. Eventually, the 99 GT will go to my daughter. Promised to her since she was 4. But, the 95 V6. Is staying with me until death. Sometimes it's not all about the ponies under the hood. It's more about where the pony has taken you.
Triston Curtis i am a mustang guy dad has 2016 roush stage 3. But anyways. I agree yes the cobra bumpers look great but if its not a terminator. Dont put a cobra emblems or bumpers on it. If anything put a mach 1 front bumper on it or chin spoiler. No disrespect to any mustang owners. Just my personal opinion
I bought a very nice 40th anniversary automatic V6. My insurance is 170 Full coverage and road side assistance. My car has 170k miles on it and runs like New, sounds like a V8 because it’s has an X Pipe cat delete, still has mufflers but mostly straight piped. Came with new fancy led headlights and taillights. I also blacked out the rims and it looks absolutely insane. It came with a Mach 1 chin splitter and V8 bumper. So far I’ve carbon fiber wrapped the roof, wing, and duck lids to match the black out skeem. Don’t knock the 3.8 or 3.9 they are fast. Mine has k@N aftermarket intakes, injectors, 93 race tune SCT. Making stock V8 HP
And here I was thinking I was gonna have to defend V6s in the comments. Honestly, it’s a shame the way a lot of people look down on it. The V6 has always been something like a bastard half-brother to the GT; full of potential and always trying to prove its worth to mom, dad, and the relatives, but ultimately less loved and held in lower esteem. Over the last six years of driving a 2003, and then a 2012 V6, I’ve come to embrace it though, and I love the hell out of my car. That’s why I plan to build my 2012 V6 up to between 400-500whp in the next year or two, as a middle finger to the snobs as well as Ford. Finally, it will have a chance to be something more than a less useful Taurus SEL, a ubiquitous rental car that nobody wants to personally own, or something that someone settled for because they couldn’t afford a GT.
I like your idea of building a v6 up when people have got the V8 they got the same old thing as everybody else has got when you got a v6 modified to the hilt you have a very rare and special car
Love my 01 v6. Wish I had it with me but she's currently sitting in a drive way back home with a hole in the block. Perfect time to swap something else in and build her. She is my first car and I'll always have her.
I traded my first car, a 2000 Ford Ranger, for the Mustang I have now, it was a V6 car when I got it but I eventually got a 5.0 out of a Thunderbird and sold the V6
I just went down from a 2004 Lincoln LS V8 to a 2003 Ford Mustang V6 just because of the gas price and the Lincoln LS usually causes so many issues. Love the Mustang for sure!
Back when I had my 2001 v6 new edge, I had that same power steering noise. I ended up replacing the belt and also the tensioner to get rid of the sound. It didn’t come back for 2 years after that day
The power steering wining is pretty much normal, they did that to make it sounds meaner or like it's supercharged lol, mine actually does need fixed but I'm pretty sure they have a part you can change on there to make it stop.
I enjoyed watching your channel. I like all 4th generation Mustangs V-6 or V-8. I own a 2001 Ford Mustang with a V-6 automatic. She gets and goes pretty good. I enjoy driving her. Good solid car.
I have a 96 v6 manual with 161k, at first I only wanted a v8 but after owning the v6 for over a year I can say it’s a great car for anyone who can’t afford a v8 and also wants something for more of a daily driver. honestly I just think v6’s are great for daily driving and a v8 for a weekend toy
I have a v6 that im coyote swapping, as decent as the v6 is i just want that v8 upgrade but dont want to let go of my old car so its a decision im happy with
Two years late, but my V6 is my baby. I get a lot of unnecessary shit for it at my night classes but I’ve driven her since I first learned stick in like sophomore year of high school, nearly 10 years ago. We have a lot of history, and lots of miles too. The engine’s finally going bad, and I refuse to sell or do anything other than repair. If you’re still checking out these comments, any advice or or tips on rebuilding vs swapping crate engines? Any recommendations for helping my baby reach some peak performance?
Use “Bars Leak” power steering repair I highly recommend it because I had that same problem for my Grand Prix 3800 series 3 I had lol common problem for that car. It will definitely reduce that loud noise by a lot.
I own a 2001 3.8. Off the line it's embarrassing. But...once on the highway and it's cruising it performs very well. It gives the goods and keeps giving. A well tuned engine cranks out 190 horses and will not disappoint on the highway. I should mention that it handles quite well at high speeds too. Also noteworthy is the durability of the engine itself. Yes it has its idiosyncrasies but by and large you're looking at a motor that if maintained will do 250,000 miles. Overall a V-6 is a solid buy. Just don't expect to drag race. Totally expect a respectable highway power rating.
My first car is a 2000 v6 automatic convertible I fell in love with it it was just parked at a house it needed a new engine, I was still in high school with no job and about to graduate, a convertible new edge had always been my dream car other than the 90's trans am (which I now own too) and I got a job I bought the mustang i painted it with my uncle in his garage, replaced the engine with one from the junkyard (all my parts are junkyard parts lol) I replaced the top and replaced the cloth seats with black leather seats (yes from the junkyard) I bought a nice sound system for it and cobra rims with deep dish in the back and it is a badass car although I don't drive it much anymore I just can't sell it it means a lot too me they're great first cars really reliable and easy to work on
I have a 2004 Ford Mustang I took the oil out of the power steering and put in Lucas Oil and my power steering doesn't make any sound and does fine I would say change out your oil mostly it's probably really dirty and if you have to do it two times do it two times
Best mods for v6 cyclone engine owners. Coilovers, Wheels and performance tires, Headers, exhaust(get it right the first time trust me lol do some research) and the best one “drum roll please” a lower gear ratio. I swapped my 3.1 gears for 4.1 gears and now I dust v8s because I got the tires for it. Sure they will beat me in the top end but your never going over 100 anyways! Or are you haha
I am about to obtain a free 2002 mustang v6 from my brother in law. It was his first car back in 2002 and I plan on daily driving it. I’ll most likely install a cold air intake, headers , aftermarket exhaust and possibly a tune, but everything else will remain stock. I plan on getting a 2007 mustang gt500 or 2003 svt cobra next year, so I’ll be glad to have a v6 as a daily.
I have a 17 v6 mustang and I honestly its underrated. Last weekend this dude pulled up in a 2010 335i with exhaust, tune etc. He jumped the light and could not pull away from me. Needless to say the sohc mustang gts from the mid to early 2000s get chewed up. The 05-2010 gts also get chewed up. Depends on the driver but don't sleep on s550 v6s. You might go running back to the dealership lmao
excuse me friend, I have a question, I have a 2000 v6 mustang but I am interested in changing the engine for a coyote v8 with manual transmission, you know or can you access me, in the case of supports and bases? Are they compatible with the size of the engine, or what would I have to change and modify? greetings from mexico cdmx, your mach 1 is chingonsisimo
My 2003 v6 is the first car i have bought with my own money. I wanted 2 things a nice cheap car an a holy manual transmission. While not the best car ever, it is reliable and with subframe connectors, some performance tires and a rear sway bar(it comes without it... ford...) the car became an awesome daily driver that can go sideways anytime while giving a decent mpg for an old car.
I use to own a 03 v6 mustang drove really well but had to get rid of it got tired of getting beat by ricer's or pretty much any car i tried to race. Great car for a new driver but for someone who knows how to handle some power they should definitely get a gt
Bhays19 I too drive a 3.7, and I’m sorry to say, but unless you’ve seriously modded your car or were racing a Camaro from before the days of direct injection and variable cam timing, I’m going to have to call bullshit.
Bhays19 So is mine. I run a 93 octane tune from SCT and it puts down ~330hp. A tune still ain’t enough to walk on a new Camaro SS making somewhere north of 400hp.

I also started on an automatic v6 mustang, it was an 04 and then I bought my Cobra during my first year of college. I would never recommend a v6 to anyone unless they are on a budget, at the end of the day it is still a mustang and it's more affordable.
Jonathan Jacobo I didn't buy it, my parents bought it for me and my brothers to drive when each of us got our license. As soon as I had enough money I bought my Cobra and couldn't be happier

Wow, I actually just totaled my 08 v6 a few days ago, I'm currently looking at either a 98 v6 or a 04 v6 the 98 claims 23k miles for 3k bit it'll need a repaint and some other stuff, maaco can do the paint and I can do the rest so it's a pretty damn good deal if it all works out

I like your positive attitude, it brightens my day! Even though I don't even own a mustang.

PanchoPann probably because of how slow it is. Even though the GT isn’t much faster. I personally don’t like the sound and rear bumper
the sn95 were pathetic and the s197 were not much better until the 3.7 cyclone update, at least the s197 4L looked nice and witha dual exhaust could sound alright and be fun but 190hp ? when you can get beat by civics that’s why people hate, modern civics can beat the sn95 mustangs, that’s pathetic, at least the s197 4L can beat them pretty well

Tazmaniandevil6969. Pat I know but dont I need some sort of wiring harness
I’m looking at buying a 2000 V6 for Highschool too!
Lol👆🏻

Will you be making a video of how to wire up the fog lights?
