    I own the Artisan since February, there it wasn't available with the 40W laser, which i bought laser together with the rotation module.
    Overall very expensive, but it is worth every single cent.
    The first contact with the device was not me, but my wife while the courier delivered the two packages with > 200 lbs in total.
    Original comment of my wife: "You're out of your depth
    Assembling was very good and well documented, i was doing it over two days.
    The case is cabable to crawl into it. Make sure you have enough space for assembly and operation.
    All three modules are working as expected. Changing from one method to another is done in 2 minutes including the bed.
    It can be only beaten by three different dedicated devices which will be more expensive in total and will take a lot more space.

    OK, so first thing, this device is listed at $2999. That is a LOT of money! So is it worth it? Well, I do trust Mad's Tech here, I think he might be one of the more honest reviewers out there. That said... here is what i think (if that is worth anything to you...)
    I like the design, there are some innovative elements such as the easy way to swap the hot ends. As a 3D Printer it seems like it could be considered to be above average in terms of quality. Speed is obviously a bit low but the dual hot end does provide advantages for the situations were dual colors or materials are warranted.
    We did not see it run a CNC project and here i think it will not do very well. First, a 200W spindle is kind of like having a lawnmower engine in your car... it just is not going to do anything very well.
    Overall, I think the price for this device is a bit too high. From memory here only (so i could be off a bit) but a very high quality laser running 20W or more can be had for well under $1000. For an awesome 3DPrinter you can expect to pay about the same. Combining the 2 into one machine has some value, but since the whole point of this equipment is make whatever you can dream up it would be easy enough to come up with or simply find and copy a quick change system so that you can swap in and out the different modules including hot ends, lasers, but I don't think CNC unless you are cutting some very light materials. Definitely not going to mill aluminum with this system. If i am proved wrong then that would be great! But with only 200W, and the design of this machine that is not likely that it will roar to life and bust out milled aluminum profiles! Perhaps even true 3D milling...
    That said, this kind of stuff makes me really want to get out there and make my own, show that this kind of stuff can be had at about 1/2 of this unit... but there you go, hell will freeze over before i will ever do anything and that is my issue but for what it is worth, please do your research as I think you can do much much better than this machine. Even if you have 2 separate machines I think you are better off. The main advantage of 2 machines is that you can simultaneously run jobs - something that this multi-purpose machine can never do. Good luck to everyone. Cheers

      I own the Artisan device since February and i have the rotary module and the 40W laser.
      The device is worth every single penny.

      @@tuxflyer I can believe it for sure with the 3D printing and the laser - my question here - does yours also have a CNC spindle or is it simply a 3DP and laser machine? If it does have a spindle, how well does it work? What can you actually do with it? I mention this because people with even dedicated CNC setups people will get issues with chatter...that will ruin workpieces, dramatically slow down the speeds and feeds, and break bits.
      My CNC is a cast iron frame - it is solid as all heck and it even gets a bit of chatter because the leadscrews are not the highest quality and they have a little bit of backlash. Also I have learned that as solid as my frame appears, the vertical column is bolted on and that has been proven to cause quality issues on the fit and finish of parts... to remedy I had to square and tighten a lot more than it was sitting at.
      Also I have seen these aluminum extrusion CNC machines on TH-cam that chatter like mad... so it makes me suspicious based on the design of the frame and the specs on the spindle. If it works for what you use it for that is perfectly cool. But try to make a part out of billet, that is a lot of the work that I do.

    Interesting. I would have preferred to see a Core XY arrangement, at the very least for a reduced footprint on the bench. This would make for a smaller cabinet size as well which is particularly important for containing chips, dust, and fume extraction.

      @ThorrFPV หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      For a cnc you need a lot of rigidity, with a corexy setup you dont have that rigidity because of the belts.

    • @tuxflyer
      @tuxflyer หลายเดือนก่อน

      Core XY would work only partially good for laser and CNC.
      Too many moving parts without the required strength (especially for CNC)
      The bench is rock solid i am expecting to stay resistent for years. And the cabinet size is already fine, you need some room for doing a proper ventilation.

    Tip:
    If you do not want to print lots of small or very detailed models, get the 0.6mm Nozzles for the device.
    These are delivering very good quality on functional prints which are stronger. And the print time is reduced significantly.
    If not using Snapmaker Luban software, you need to make sure having the proper settings for different nozzle size.

      I am afraid to say that i do not think it will be impressive at all... for CNC you need a rigid frame, a truly rigid frame, and a lot LOT more spindle power than 200W... I made my own post, you can see more about what I think there. Without the rigidity and horsepower you will get chatter, it will not be able to cut anything much more than some plywood, etc...
      This is trying to do just a bit too much and at a very steep price. A combo of a dual extruder and the 20W laser would have been great, and say for $1500? Perhaps I would cough up $2k if it proved itself.
      But there already are many very capable machines out there today for fractions of these prices. If you are willing to do some hard work - Voron or Rat Rig 1000% are the way to go. Good luck in whatever you do! Cheers

A bientôt donc.

      I am having this machine working with all three modules since February and never had the need to regret my decision to buy it.

      It works with 5ghz as well.
      But don't expext a web interface or something. It works only in Luban out of the box (upload and change positions), in Cura with the Snapmaker Plugin or in OrcaSlicer with the SM2Uploader script (upload GCode only).
      There is nothing you can configure over the network

      Snapmaker is currently delivering a set of black (PLA) and white (Breakout support) Filament with the device. But that doesn't make it better 😀
