    She doesn’t seem to want people looking as she’s nursing.

      I agree. I have seen other enclosures where mom has a blanket. She hides under it and nurses her child.

    Poor mom. She needs privacy. She is always observed by humans.They are intelligent . They should live better in that place, what a sad live in captivity . 😢

      Totally agree with you. The habitat-if you can call it such, looks nothing like a jungle. I feel sorry for them. It’s no fun being an “exhibit.”

    What is there for these orangutans to do to have an enriched lives. This enclosure looks pretty barren and small to me 😭😭😭😭😭

    I wonder how popo is doing today and if her mom has given birth to any siblings?

    Mom seems overwhelmed and distressed. I feel sorry for the baby as well, mom was being quite harsh and cold towards baby. First time I've seen that in an orangutan mother. Have to wonder...would that have happened in the wild?

    Mom seemed out of character and rather irritated. Popo,, however, kept giving her kisses. Feel better mom!🙏😘

    Poor mom seemed bothered by the sun and tried to squeeze into that tiny patch of shade. She doesn’t seem to have been given a blanket to shelter in. Orangutans don’t like full sun. Their enclosure looks awful from what I can see. Maybe I am wrong and there are some lovely, shady trees just out of camera range. 🦧🌳

      It's a Japanese zoo, and there's nothing there except concrete! That's where the ticket is what counts, not the animal and its welfare. Japan is not a member of the international organizations that save endangered species, there is practiced inbreeding, incest and hardly anyone is bothered by it.

    There is one other video in which Mom was irritated in the same way with Popo. Popo was smaller in that video. As much as I love that little Popo, she is very clingy and I think Mom sometimes has her fill of it. That can happen to the best of us.😢

      Exactly. The humans who exhibit these poor creatures seem not to care.

    poor thing that enclosure is too small, orangutans shouldn’t be locked up in a zoo but unfortunately there jungle is disappearing.

      I've read on numerous websites that they can nurse 8 to 9 years. That's the longest of any mammal.

      Dead in the jungle is MUCH better

    • @2btpatch
      @2btpatch 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, a natural life in the jungle is much better, and is doable if one supports orangutan rehab projects and forest conservation in Indonesia. Even if they may not live as long in the jungle than at a zoo, life for them in a zoo is generally hell.

    Mum seems to have no maternal instinct, as for an orangutan she is very dry for her baby, she tears it and wean it away, and this is a baby. Another thing is a terrible rush, not for orangutans, and this noise. It is a very sad video and life in such a badly made artificial environment, which at the same time is certainly safer for them than natural.😒

    • @2btpatch
      @2btpatch 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think mum has a maternal instinct. It’s just hard for her to show it in those surroundings. She is forced to sit on the ground in the too-bright sun.

    • @donataj2213

      @@2btpatch Maybe you're right. She is irritated by the noise, the noise, the complete lack of privacy, exposed to sunlight in a concrete jungle. I hate Japanese zoos, it's torturing animals, not protecting them! Ordinary bullying, everyone would go crazy if they had to spend their whole lives there!

      Think how the orangutans like it, too.
