Hey you forgot the hero vs villain mode in battlefront two but it was only on Mos Eisley. But this was a good video and honestly I really would want to see what you can say about the dice battlefronts. As well Battlefront 4 was a thing and was going to have what if ideas of the franchise with their own stories but it was also scrapped on the conceptual level and no gameplay exsited. This was also going to be co inside with the first force unleashed game and have Star Killer as a playable Hero.
Ah, Star Wars Battlefront, this was basically my Halo to play in the early to mid 00s because I didn't own an Xbox and had a PS2. This and DBZ Budokai 3 were my most played games of that time. All though when I think of Battlefront I tend to think of the 2005 version the most, I played the original a bit but when BF2 came out, I just played that a lot. I do like the campaign in the 2005 version and I think ironically it's pretty decent for a game that was not supposed to have a campaign at all and was made because they needed to ship with one. It's muuuuuuuuuuch better than the 2017 game and that is hilarious considering the latter was made to have an sp from the ground up. I am actually not a big fan of space battles in the 2005 game, it felt too empty and barren compared to the on foot infantry fights, battles often consist of going instead capital ships because the actual dogfighting was so empty and barren. It's a shame BF3 never got made, Free Radical with the Timesplitters games and Second Sight are great devs and BF3 really could've been the best in the series.
What's funny is that Battlefront II was the second most popular game on xbox live multiplayer, even when Microsoft shut down og XBOX servers. So you can arguably say that Battlefront II was also the XBOX's Halo too.
Lucasarts man, they were truly something else despite their problems they knew how to make fun videogames. By the way, a guy made a mod that adds more maps to the PSP version at the cost of galactic conquest and story mode. The maps are ports from previous games and even the renegade and elite games. It's worth trying out if you want a new Battlefront II experience in your emulator or PSP
It's really a shame you've only got 50k subs. You've taken up the task of having to play through multiple games per video on a weekly schedule, yet your videos continue to be such high quality. You deserve 300,000 at the VERY least.
One of the best parts about the original battlefront was the grenade physics, how they'd toss you around even if they didnt kill you. Created so much madness
Something that wasn’t mentioned that makes me enjoy battlefront 2004 WAY more than battlefront 2005 is the ability to use starfighters and other aerial ships during ground battles, it’s so fun wrecking infantry and tanks using LAATs, etc. Also the physics/splash damage and vehicle combat in battlefront 2 was way worse than the OG
Honestly, I think almost all the battlefront games have been good (at least at the end). Loved the original two on the ps2, played the demo of one on the psp endlessly. The newer two are different, but they are star wars, when I first played Battlefront (2015) it felt like star wars, everything was so pretty and flashy, and it was so simple it just felt right. The second one had that thing with micro-transactions at the beginning, let us never forget that (since dice seems to know no end to their shitty developing skills), but now, I couldn’t recommend that game more, the only flaw it has, is that it doesn’t have instant action split screen, but besides that (and glitches I guess) for me it does stand as a great entry in the series.
How could you forget to mention assault mode on Tatooine! A hidden heroes vs villains mode that I believe was also a pc exclusive. It wasn't a 4v4 like EA's games though, but every hero vs every villain simultaneously
I remember an interview with Dice back in 2015 where they explained the new games don’t have seamless ground/space combat because the graphical fidelity is too high to try to fit that much stuff together.
The original Battlefront game was the first Star Wars game I ever played and it will always be my favorite, but in my opinion I think the original Battlefront 2 is the best of all the Battlefront games since it has a lot more game modes and a good campaign as well as being able to play as heroes.
Playing Battlefront 2 on my psp are some of my favorite memories as a kid. I'd even pass it between friends to take turns and argue which Jedi is the best in the game
i was very young when the og battlefronts were released so i have no memory playing them outside of a few occasions when my brother would leave his pc on or something, so i never really had any opinions on the gameplay or mechanics in either games rather memories of seeing my older brother playing them late at night with his friends and seeing everything play out it felt like a movie so when i bought the games for myself and would do the same with my friends it hit a nostalgia nerve for seeing everything again and how they still more or less hold up 18 years later just being fun to jump into and have a good time
9:50 in the original release of battle front 2 they did use movie footage before playing the in game cutscenes, but they were removed for the steam release
13:50 ... the meta in bf1 was also explosives(antitank-guy was 80% of every lobby) and rolling or sniping, everything else was played by bots :D what a time, loved it.

It did autoaim your rockets and torpedos if you were using a starfighter. But those required you to be looking near the target to lock onto them
We actually got the entire story in "battlefront elite sqaudron" (i believe that was the name) i used to have that game on my nintendo DS. You play as X2 a clone that has jedi dna. You as X2 don't go trough with order 66 and turn on your brother X1. You join the rebellion and later get trained by luke skywalker. And in the end you and your brother (now both capable force users) fight to death on mustafar! God this story actually slapped hard!
Battlefront II (2005) almost released without a singleplayer campaign but it was added late in development because the developers believed it was something that needed to be added. That dedication did not deserve Filoni completely ignoring the clone rebellion on Kamino.
The best part about Battlefront II was 4 player splitscreen, which was pretty cool back in the day for couch gaming. Hero battles, Galactic Conquest...etc...

They were called Star wars battlefront Elite Squadron and star wars battlefront renegade squadron. Elite Squadron also had a Nintendo DS version that played completely differently Also I think "I play every Timesplitters game" should be added to the list of requests
@@Niosai Yeah at the end of the video it sounded like you were alluding to these games but felt the need to comment still just in case (especially about the ds version)
battlefront 2 has an awards feature as well. it ranges from small to big buffs. better rifle, a guided rocket, damage buff, vehicle regen, and others. but all in one life till you reach max level. the first 3 times the award doesn't matter, after 32 times the requirement lowers, 64 it becomes permanent. the elite rifle and flechette shotgun can really do some damage
I had a demo version of the PSP game and it actually had the combined land and space battle. It only had one map since it was a demo (Tatooine), but I think they wanted to include both modes. You could spawn on a capital ship, in a fighter, or on the surface and by flying up you could transfer between ground and space. I expected you to mention this and was surprised that it was not actually in the full game.
You're talking about Elite Squadron! I'm going to be talking about that in Part 2 and while it does have surface to space, it's not seamless and they're almost treated like separate maps
This just gave me the biggest nostalgia trip ever, back to 2002, playing LoTR: The Two Towers on XBox! I legitimately smelled scents I remembered from back then and everything. 😄😀
I completely forgot about Renegade Squadron even though i literally have the collector edition Vader psp that came with it. Idk how many hours i dumped into that game as a kid just messing around with custom units. I haven't tried elite squadron but I need to find a way before the part 2
Good to know battlefront 2 still has the same online meta. Back when I was a kid I'd plug my PS2 into dialup and all I'd do was drop infinte trip mines.
17:58 acording to some devs game was 99% ready so if this is true leaked build its much older and unfinished that last build they had which probably only needed bug fixes and polish.
didn't even mention the special game mode in BF2 (2005) available only on Tatooine where it's just heroes vs villains. i spent way too much time on that with my brother as a kid
22:57 Okay, so this IS just Part 1, because I was ready to ask, "But what about the Renegade and Elite Squadron games?" Yeah, no, Part 2 and all that jazz. Got it.
I had the first battlefront, and remember playing as a demo on xbox which came with the OT on dvd. But for the life of me, I cannot remember the PT being part of this game
Me and my cousin would play split screen space battles in the 2nd game and just keep betraying eachother in the hanger till the defeat screen came up. Good times. 😂
My friends and I love the fact that Star wars Battlefront 2 (2005) had 4 player splitscreen for ps2 and Xbox. However, you need the 4 player adapter to make that work on ps2
am i remembering the psp exclusive wrong? i remember it having alot of maps, including courasant. more heros to play like admril ackbar. i remember voice lines and how the heros never died but just got bored lol. i remember galactic conquest being far superior to the console version. it wasnt just credits for boosts, you had a cache of infantry and you could send however many you wanted to fight on a planet, like you could do 25v120.
the first one is still the champ. i was in an unofficial tournament on xbox and my team made it to the final match. then my internet went down before it started and was out for two weeks. i never found out who won.....
Fun fact: On the PSP Battlefront 2, even though on the space battles the capital ships don't have interiors. They still have the destroyable targets in there floating in the air and you still get points for destroying them. You can get to them, if you glitch your fighter/bomber trough the hangar floor.
Yeah. Found out about it, when a ship respawned on top of my previously landed ship and i tried to take off with it, but then my ship just sank through the floor. What i find interesting, is that i can't find anyone speaking about this glitch.
Fun fact, it's actually impossible to play every single released battlefront game in 2022, Star Wars Battlefront: Mobile Squadrons has been completely lost to time with only a few screenshots remaining.
😭 Yeah, tons of mobile game tie-ins to a bunch of series are gone forever. At least it's not due to the publisher intentionally making it unavailable, not that this outcome is much better
Battlefront II (2005) released with unique characters and maps on the original Xbox. I can't remember the maps, but Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress were the added hero characters who had completely original animations and voice lines. Asajj even has lightsaber nunchucks. I cannot find any evidence of mods that add them to the PC version, meaning they're, to this day, still only in the Xbox version. Which didn't take anything away from the other versions, except XL mode on PC, which obviously it had to. And yet no one ever talks about the Xbox version. They always say they played the Playstation 2 or PC version in their childhoods. Me included.

the first 3 times the award doesn't matter, after 32 times the requirement lowers, 64 it becomes permanent. the elite rifle and flechette shotgun can really do some damage

Yeah, the multiplayer is so unstable that blaster shots just don’t register most of the time, which means grenades are sometimes more reliable.
That's interesting. It's fun either way! :)
Don't even like Star Wars but I'll still listen to you talk about it. That's when you know you're winning at TH-cam
😭 appreciate that
I had a demo version of the PSP game and it actually had the combined land and space battle.
Sick logo man, also keep up the awesome contents buddy🙌
I grew up with the first two battlefronts on ps2. Me and my cousins would play for hours on end, and I really wish I could play them again.
This just gave me the biggest nostalgia trip ever, back to 2002, playing LoTR: The Two Towers on XBox! I legitimately smelled scents I remembered from back then and everything. 😄😀
But did you play the og battlefront demo on the Xbox with the Special edition Star Wars DVD set?
I completely forgot about Renegade Squadron even though i literally have the collector edition Vader psp that came with it. Idk how many hours i dumped into that game as a kid just messing around with custom units. I haven't tried elite squadron but I need to find a way before the part 2
At some point ,you have to do I played every street fighter 2
Im curious, are u gonna do battlefront squadron and elite squadron?
Part 2! Stay tuned :)
3:45 Oh yeah that sound takes me back.
There’s a PSP Battlefront game called Elite Squadron and the Battlefront 3 campaign pretty much got moved to that game
13:31 I'm assuming you were playing in our SWGO Galactic Battles (US) server?
Btw I am SWGO Stormy, in your video. Thank you for covering this!
I believe I was! :)
I really hoped you played the mods for OG Battlefront 2 PC, it's truly outstanding.
Why is it that the Star Wars games we want to play the most are the ones that never get finished?
😢
Wish there was a mod for BFII that made all weapons feel as good as in the first game (2004)
Oh man. I remember og bf2 online in 2012 the meta was to roll and use the vanguard/rocket land mines to wipe out 4-6 people at a time
didn't even mention the special game mode in BF2 (2005) available only on Tatooine where it's just heroes vs villains. i spent way too much time on that with my brother as a kid
For those wondering, pretty sure the Montross theme is part of the backround music for this video.
10:13 Space battles used to crash some PCs back in the day. I'm curious if that feature was on the console releases
It was yes, presumably the option to skip was because they could be considered a bit too repetitive
I love the casual skipping of Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron on PSP in fact Elite Squadron is such a great game it's practically Battlefront 3
Part 2 includes those and should be out in the next day or two! :)
@@Niosai oh nice
I wish you had come across the PSP BF2 mods! They add back missing maps and more, Cool that you showed r7 too
22:57
Okay, so this IS just Part 1, because I was ready to ask, "But what about the Renegade and Elite Squadron games?"
Yeah, no, Part 2 and all that jazz. Got it.
I really love your stuff man. Keep it up.
Woah, I had no idea about battlefront 3, that looks like it would have been sick!
New battlefront 2 does a good job at capturing the old ps2 battlefront days imo
There's a build of Battlefront 3 that is 90% completed, we just need that one guy to leak it.
am i remembering the psp exclusive wrong? i remember it having alot of maps, including courasant. more heros to play like admril ackbar. i remember voice lines and how the heros never died but just got bored lol. i remember galactic conquest being far superior to the console version. it wasnt just credits for boosts, you had a cache of infantry and you could send however many you wanted to fight on a planet, like you could do 25v120.
There’s a couple PSP battlefront games
you are thinking of renegade squadron
Original Battlefront 2 will always be the go-to for me
the first one is still the champ. i was in an unofficial tournament on xbox and my team made it to the final match. then my internet went down before it started and was out for two weeks. i never found out who won.....
Fun fact: On the PSP Battlefront 2, even though on the space battles the capital ships don't have interiors. They still have the destroyable targets in there floating in the air and you still get points for destroying them. You can get to them, if you glitch your fighter/bomber trough the hangar floor.
So the engine room is still there, just invisible? lmao
Yeah. Found out about it, when a ship respawned on top of my previously landed ship and i tried to take off with it, but then my ship just sank through the floor. What i find interesting, is that i can't find anyone speaking about this glitch.
I remember playing the multiplayer for the PSP with cousins
We would use the heroes vs villian on tattoine trick and just goof off
fun times
If you're craving a Battlefront fix, check out the Kyber Mod for Battlefront 2.
SWBF 2 was the best but SWBF 1 was also very amazing in its own right to!
Thanks for the awesome content man
I know nothing about these games but by god I will watch this video to the end.
My bois Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron deserve some love!
How’d you get the hud to look like the console versions for Star Wars Battlefront 2 on higher resolutions for pc?
Yooo that kotor music blew me back to my childhood
That slapping kotor music at the start :D
The Xbox DLC *is* a mod on Moddb.
@@ic0nic707 It is? First I've heard of it.
There's a battelfront for DS that I think is the story they wanted to use for battlefront 3. You should look into it if you're interested.
Stay tuned for part 2 :)
