Ok just received my cholesterol test. Have been doing keto since end of Aug beginning Sept 2019. We have been taking collagen & MCT Oil every morning. 2019 vs 02/20 current date: Nov: 2019 Chol 313, Trig 78, HDL 79, VLDL 16, LDL 218, T.chol/HDL Ratio: 4.0 Feb. 2020 Chol 324, Trig 84, HDL 95, VLDL 16, LDL 212 T.chol/HDL Ratio: 3.4 I won't complain as I was stressing out waiting for results. Chol & Trig went up a tad but all else went the right direction. Now trying to lower the trig all advise welcomed. But all in all...I am both relieved & happy with these numbers as I was concerned since doing Keto. Note: went from 139 to 118 lbs..
I recently spent a few weeks increasing my tolerance to C8. First week I added 1 mL to coffee, twice a day. Second week I added 2 mL to coffee, twice a day. No problems. Yesterday I ramped up to a full tablespoon (about 15 mL) in each cup of coffee. Wow! It definitely lit up my brain. I was more alert than I've been in years. It was comparable to taking modafinil, but only lasted for about 6 hours.
@@nickarrigo7493 Yeah, I should clarify a few things. * I was comparing to 100 mg of Modafinil, not the 200 mg standard dose. * I was on ketogenic diet at the time, so I was already in fat-burning mode. I doubt it would work like this on a normal level of carb intake. * I had to stop taking C8 because I discovered via trial and error that it was causing vertigo. It sucks because I really enjoyed it. And yeah, it's a weird side effect. I may be the only one. But to answer your question, yes 2 x 15 mL. IDK the density of C8, but I'm sure it's less than water (i.e. less than 1.0 g/mL), so it would be less than than 30 grams -- maybe 25 grams?
@@mothermakeup7481Look up selegiline while you're at it. Both will give you a mental lift. Just make sure you're not covering up some other underlying condition, such as insulin resistance or poor sleep.
this is very weird because I just read a study, where they gave 20 grams (or 20 000mg) of C8 daily to a bunch of obese women to study its effects on weight loss. I think you have probably experienced some kind of placebo effect.

I did not know this when I bought my first bottle and took the recommended one tablespoon in the morning; label did say that once you are able to, increase amount to two and then three Tbs eventually. I always think I know better so I took 2 Tbs that first day.......let us say between the intense nausea and constant trips to the bathroom, it was a very miserable day. Trust me.....start with 1 tsp first for a few days, then increase. ; )

Took a tablespoon of MCT oil. Definitely was blowing up the pot shortly afterwards. My ketones did go from 0.6 to 2.0. About 2 hrs later. I think tomorrow I’ll go down to a tsp. I erroneously thought my gut could handle it since I’ve been keto for over a year.
....I'm hearing more and more on ketone Esters (KE). KE today is much less expensive compared to the early days of Dr. Mary Newport's relentlessness with working with her husband's condition; but still a little expensive for use daily for the rest of us that don't have a condition but just want the benefit of this jet fuel for enhanced cognition and increased or improved athletic performance. Dr. Boz, can you please do a video on keto rash? Some ppl get what looks to me to be more of a candida rash (in the armpits, groin and under folds of flesh - this sometimes burns). But most report an itchy rash usually on the torso or back, but it can affect the face too, with (sometimes sparse) red bumps that occasionally leave a brown discoloration of the skin (which can be permanent). I water fasted for 21 days, breaking it slightly every 3 days only to keep my blood glucose levels above 35 and ketones below 8, and after about 10 days I developed this itch on my stomach that eventually turned into a rash (the itch was intense). It only goes away when I am fully out of ketosis for several days. It returns the minute I go into ketosis now and it's been 2 months since I ended my water fast. Did I break something? Now I can't go into ketosis at all. If I attempt to push past it the rash worsens and spreads - and itches like crazy. All the TH-cam keto experts say keto rash is rare but my research shows a lot of folks suffer from this. One youtuber even tried antibiotics to see if she could eliminate it and thus be able to get back on a keto diet, but to no avail. (Antibiotics seem like the worse thing you could do.) Seems once you get it your stuck with getting it if you try to burn ketones. This makes ketosis impossible. No one knows what causes it - lots of speculation, and I tried the suggestions but nothing works except staying out of ketosis (even mild!). My instincts tell me it's some sort of detox response. I have heavy metals, yeast, and black mold exposure. Maybe there's a common thread with us keto rashers. I'm thinking I need to detox first, then try keto again. Your thoughts Dr. Boz? Also, do you have detox protocols specific to metals or molds? These can be dangerous to detox if done improperly and there are scores of different detox methods.
Boy I would liv6e to know the answer to the rash thing. I get a rash about the size of my palm on my side on occasion. Thought it was eczema. I use Rx hydrocortisone to combat it, but now I wonder if it's keto rash.
The first couple of times that I started keto, I got the rash after about 2-3 weeks so I went back to low carb and it went away. The third time I tried keto, same thing, but instead of going back to low carb, I tried the Carnivore diet which is Meat, Eggs and Dairy (not milk, too many carbs). The rash went away and I have been rash free for a year now on the Carnivore diet. I was in ketosis the whole time and I feel great.

Thanks for the tip. Can you please tell me more or point me in a direction? My son who is brilliant in research tells me to avoid ALL plant oils, including olive , coconut and MCT oils. Says only animal fats are healthy. I take coconut oil for candida (works great) and MCT oil for cognition (although I haven't seen any improvements yet). Just a side note, candida is usually a symptom of other problems. It's often attempting to protect the body against heavy metal toxicity which I'm certain I suffer from.

So if the MCT oil is very high in C8 and C10 but has some C12, is it good or totally useless (as a MCT oil)? Does the C8 and C10 absorbed immediately and the C12 digested separately, or is the C12 binded to the C8 and C10 so that it all needs to be digested because C12 is involved?
Hi. C8 & C10 go directly to liver in portal vein. C12 gets digested like normal food, so like butter. It’s still beneficial, especially if your body cannot access your own fat yet.
Check your diet and drink consumption. I used to cheat while taking the oil and I wasn't seeing any good results. Long story short I changed my habits. And I'm very pleased... I'm not saying you are.

I took 1 tablespoon of MCT oil, the recommended type, after fasting 16 hours, continued fasting, water only AND did a 60 minute workout at hour 18. 40 minutes before that workout I took 1 teaspoon of MCT. After 20 hours using ketone test strips, I did not have one bit of ketones in my urine. I guess this works on an individual basis, the rest will just excrete it out. So basically it appears I added empty calories.

The specialists who always keep their videos short do so as a marketing ploy to reel in those whose attention span is used to sound bites, and you end up with a lot of misleading or half-information. Dr. Boz is more thorough, explaining not just the how but the why. I wouldn't want her to change a thing.

Please update your labels on MCT to the percentage of C8 and C10 instead of just the grams.

The same happened to me. But I do wonder about the efficiency of my ketone strips? Any change over the years for you?

No. C8 is the preferred chain length. If the product was comprised of only C8, it would be expensive. C10 is good but, C8 is slightly better.
