Love the “Hymn of the Fayth.” For the longest time I would just hum what I thought was the lyrics, like “Ieyui” somehow turned into “grant us peace” in my head.
I always thought that the hymn of fayth was a very sad song, with too much grief for a religious tune, and when I discovered the lyrics it made all the sense. Will always love this one and "someday the dream will end" or "a fleeting dream".
I have always loved FFX. Still do. Awesome video guys. Kinda sorta knew about this already but I've enjoyed watching a video of it actually being discussed. Especially loved your new version, sympathizing and paying tribute with the Fayth.

3:43 Huh interesting, I always made the connection to the Fayth as being more indirect in how the Fayth's summons used pyreflies to come into existence and how the pyreflies looked like fairies or nature spirits. Another name for Fairy is Fay. That in conjunction with a play on the word faith, faith they had in there sacrifice being able to defeat Sin. Either way I'm mentioning this video and it's translation of The hymn of the faith in my retrospective thanks for this video. Btw your interpretation at the end of the video could actually be right I wouldn't be surprised if the developers intentionally made different meaning and lyrics to come out of the same song.
The hymn of the fayth will be played at my father's life celebration that's soon to happen and eventually my own, hopefully i can pass this tradition down the line so I and my family don't become Fiends.
I'm a bit late to the party, but ゆめみよ doesn't mean "behold a dream". It means "dream", in the imperative. 夢を見る (yume o miru) means "to dream". In English, you have a dream; in Japanese, you _watch_ a dream. Also, you guys were probably aware of it, but for the sake of clarity, いのりご (inorigo), while it does literally mean "child of prayer" (or rather "praying child" or "child _in_ prayer"), is the Japanese name of the Fayth.
