  • Beautiful beautiful songs!
    Lyrics:
    Leyui
    Nobomeno
    Renmiri
    Yojuyogo
    Hasatekanae
    Kutamae
    Translation:
    Praise be to
    Yu Yevon
    Dream
    Fayth
    Forever and a day
    Bring us prosperity
    The song consists of Japanese syllables, which do not mean anything when sung.
    However when they are written down in columns and read from left to right,
    the puzzle gets resolved and the lyrics can be translated.
    Hymn of the Faith
    - Song of Prayer 0:05
    - Valefor 0:56
    - Ifrit 1:43
    - Ixion 2:31
    - Shiva 3:18
    - Bahamut 4:04
    - Yojimbo 4:52
    - The Ronso 5:39
    - Yunalesca 6:31
    - Spira 7:24
    - Anima 8:21
    The Magus Siters does not have their own version.

    The harmonies on the Yunalesca version are absolutely insane. I've been playing and making music for about 20 years, and I've never heard chords like that in any context outside of this game.
    Consider the story importance too: Yunalesca was the first summoner to defeat sin, and the hymn used to be a battle cry....the way the melody twists and resolves in her version could symbolize the tension and flashes of hope she faced when confronting Sin

    • @AlleluiaElizabeth
      @AlleluiaElizabeth 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You should check out some gregorian chant, then, if you never have. They hit that same sound.

    • @kennichdendenn
      @kennichdendenn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      The reason you dont know this is rather simple - the chords go against one of the most important (traditional) composition rules for choir, not once, but constantly for most of the song!
      This rule says not to move two voices in parallel in fifths (or octaves) - yet thats whats happening here constantly, making the feeling almost unsetteling. Its clearly a choice, not an accident, of course - musical rules are there to be broken 😁.
      This is made worse by having two fifths stacked, which all move in parallel!

    • @ForkySeven
      @ForkySeven ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The composer took gregorian chant and made it even more visceral by modifying the harmonies ever so slightly away from the way it was truly traditionally done.

      That feeling when you finally, finally reached her chamber, still at pieces over the fact that you can't save Yuna and just found out that Tidus is nothing but a dream that will perish as well... And you fully expect the soothing, but sad song of prayer to give a little auditory peace to your crying heart, and then T H I S dissonant, awful version starts playing... Instant goosebumps, hackles raised, and despair over the fact that you've just reached another point where sh*t will go down.

    • @spencertang5155
      @spencertang5155 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      It’s not exactly the fact that he himself died young, it’s more so that bahamut along with all other fayth willingly sacrificed themselves to become the aeons we know. You *could* argue that the child who would eventually become bahamut was forced to but nowhere I’ve seen seems to exactly prove that.

    Yunalesca's version is definetly the creepiest one here, but Yu yevon's (not included here) takes the cake. My headcanon for his version: If Yunalesca's chorus are the five people sacrificed to become the final aeon each time, Yu Yevon's are them including all the summoner's other aeons possessed and corrupted.

    • @VanAkita
      @VanAkita 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@Liliquan If i am not mistaken, Sin was defeated five times before the main storyline. Five final aeons, alas five fayths in the void of Yunalesca's chamber singing the hymn, alas five guardians of the high summoners sacrificed.

      @@VanAkita well, its actually implied that there have been many, MANY summoners and guardians who have come through Zanarkand. Including Seymour's mom, and i don't hear her voice there.
      Remember that this has been going on for a thousand years, and Braska's Calm only lasted ten years. It is possible, just highly unlikely

    • @callmeshaggy5166
      @callmeshaggy5166 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The 5 storyline Aeons are in fact the Final Aeons of the summoners that previously defeated Sin, released from Yevon's influence once defeated by the next Final Aeon. This is currently Braska's Final Aeon, which freed Bahamut/the little boy. This is why he seems to know who Jecht really is.
      The optional Aeons are those of summoners from failed pilgrimages. Anima is technically Seymour's Final Aeon, which he chose not to use as a child. Yojimbo is Lady Ginnem's from Lulu's previous pilgrimage, and the Magus Sisters are Belgemine's.

      @@callmeshaggy5166 If this is a theory, I freaking love it. Though, it does imply that there were very few summoners who succeeded.

    It's a shame they never got an aeon for water since they have one for fire, lightning, and ice...I sorta came up with a story for one: Levia (short for Leviathan)...a 10-12 yr old girl who was starting out with her older sister who just became a summoner too. During the trip to Kilika, the ship was hit by Sin, but before the older sister could summon her aeon to defend the ship, a SInspawn was going to strike her down, and Levia jumped in to take the blow for her. She prays to Yevon to make her a fayth...which he does so...but Levia was pretty much forgotten after that. Levia's Hymn could be sung in the key of D Major, almost like a slow shanty. Her aeon appearance is that of a mermaid with water-like wisps of hair, main physical attack could be her hitting the enemy with her tail, and her overdrive could be Tidal Surge, dragging the enemy underwater and striking them several times before a geyser of water sends them back up for a finale.
    What do you think?

    The biggest thing missed is anima's split personality representing the dual nature of Seymour's public image VS reality. Seymour was a monster underneath his calm countenance, bent and deranged. Anima's pain is representative in it's visible form displaying his mother's sorrow in realizing too late Seymour's true nature, and also also showing Seymour's restraint at hiding his dark side, representative of the otherworld side of anima. Also, note the otherworldly portal in which anima is summoned from with chains and hooks. Seymour may have bound his mother with dark magics forcing her to do this particular sacrifice as well. After all, he was provenly patricidal it's not a jump to conclude he may have done something dark with his mother

    There is a prime back story on the war of Zanarkand that I would have loved to witness. There were the stories behind the people who became the Aeons you summon. The story between Yunalesca, her father Yu Yevon and her husband Lord Zaon. How the Aeons would deal between their "reality" and the Dream Zarnarkand. AT least I would loveto see all this but thanks to Square Enix's giving shit all about their FInal Fantasy players we will never see it or if we do it will be horrible and rts.

    I don't know much about the Fayth in the Final Fantasy games, But can someone fill me in on why Bahamut's Fayth sounds like a young boy?
