Oh my God I am a 62-year-old former shop owner but things went awry I became homeless hopeless and sad. I am now back and Fabulous I got Section 8 housing a beautiful apartment in Palm Springs California and I want to motivate and influence others that are homeless and feeling destitute. I can't say how inspired I am by this video.
You know what?? You could teach people who are where you were at to make furniture like new again. God makes beauty out of ashes and look what she did with that sofa!! There is healing in it when we take something that is old, beat up and used and make it into something beautiful! Hold on to that thought!!
Took my words from my mouth, same situation.. we need more problem solvers in our society, and less bureaucratic bs .. for that, we need more art in schools and in our society, so that creativity is everywhere,,, we have enough sheep following orders in gov dime , and that's why the US quality of life , when compared w other developed countries , is nothing to brag about .. so we need more art in our society, and less bureaucracy , that also left me homeless several times, so I also thank this lady w so much talent, because she inspired me also, and I am gonna go and hunt for that couch also 😅..

I just bought a antique accent chair that's cream and I chalk painted it teal blue and the wood antique gold i can't believe how I took a $25 dollar chair to heaven and made it look magnificent thank you!!!

I am really impressed with this piece… I was a faux finisher and decorative painter for 30 + years in LA … I did paint upholstery for my house, but frankly never thought to use transfers, and they look fabulous… I am retired now, but this inspires me to do some projects just for me.. thank you
in 1989 I painted my Ivory mid century brocade 6 foot long sofa. Wild huge purple flowers, rousseau style leaves and vines, to match my purple living room. I used watered down acrylic paint and A SPRAY BOTTLE. No one believed me that it would work. It worked. (of course)

I'm very late to this party, but I discovered your videos about 2 years ago and have not stopped painting since. Mostly, I just copy you, but I have done several pieces that came out of my own brain. I'm just finishing up a fireplace mantel now that was inspired by your wedding cake dresser, but this couch idea is next on my list. You are such an inspiration.

Really nice result, and well thought out. But I honestly can’t get over how sloppy the application is. It’s seems it’s going to be hell to redo these things. I only mean to say that I always think of future generations when I refinish a piece. Likely, however, they’ll never get redone on the course that human beings are on, so I guess nothing lost.
So “it’s all good,” I guess. 😑

I have a storage ottoman with a thick tight weave. It was off white and got dirty fast. I painted it with bohemian blue. It looks great and feels the same.

I bought a vintage victorian couch from a lady who was retiring to travel the country in her RV. Promised I'd take good care of it.... I painted it metallic silver and waxed it I to a faux leather finish with black trim. 😅 5 years later no regrets!

You remind of a younger me when I was unafraid to do anything and faked my way through whatever I wanted to achieve... but you are just beyond brave...beyond unafraid of failing. That is soooo fantastic. I loved watching your videos! I have to ask you though...who is the artist playing in this video??? Years ago when I started my faux finishing business I painted some fabric chairs with latex paint, lol. You have inspired me to paint some of my chairs and cushions and whatever I can find. I just watched a video by DIY Deanna where she uses moulds and adds them to a nightstand. It’s just a brilliant idea and it turned out great. Better than great... gorgeous. I thought to this may be the most gorgeous piece of redesigned furniture that I’ve ever seen… Maybe not… So I came back and watched this video again so I could make up my mind… Deciding which piece of furniture showed the most artistry and the most beautiful outcome. The sofa still is number one.
And after watching your video almost a year ago, I painted not only my sofa, but chairs and then carpet! It all worked. I even tried painting a faux stripe in the carpet. That didn’t turn out so great LOL
