People who think they have a right to park outside their house, even if it's parking for anyone need shooting. I've had dirt on cars, letters saying they live in the house & I can't park outside as they need to be close to home.
They put their address, which I knew as parked outside. I put FUKC OFF ILL LARK WHERE I WANT. after that I parked my Sprinter van there often as I could.

When people get fussy about having to move their vehicles because they've parked in a silly place, I always say "if I can't get past you neither could a fire engine. Just be lucky it was me this time"

Cannabis Farm OutdoorUK I've driven a Mercedes Sprinter & really enjoyed it, no HGV obviously. Based in Brighton, regular trips to Glasgow, Manchester, Aberdeen & all over. Sleeping in vans, I'd recommend it.
      18 wheelers I don't think I'd be happy to do though ✌🏼😁

It's not a walk in the park like some say. It really will test you. I've found myself down lanes like this is mid Wales, in a knackered curtainsider, having to blindside reverse an artic down a lane to avoid a 3 tonne weight limited bridge. Fun times!

    • @fatman2570

Wait till you have to go down roads in Wiltshire and Devon or Cornwall where your mirrors are touching hedges both sides with passing places 1 mile apart and both other way to go, Black isle in Scotland also going to the fish farms loaded with pipes. 48 years trucking and don't miss it at all. A tip is if you think you're going to travel on roads that are narrow or sharp bends and turns call the company you're going to ask if any other way in, don't rely on Satnav too much especially out in the sticks. Brings back memories watching, I've been retired 6 years last truck a Scania 500 first truck Atkinson 180 gardener engine no heaters in them days.

    • @jeffbanks9955
      @jeffbanks9955 3 ปีที่แล้ว

depends what company you work for and what runs you get. i work for aldi and we get mostly A roads, major B roads at worst. nothing like Kev's doing (that's real driving and we'll leave that to him! ;). My shifts are no longer than 10 hours and im on a 5 on 3 off pattern. Same start time every day, same truck most days, no waiting to get tipped or loaded. Its worth doing your HGV if you can get a good number

Really nice vlog. Well done. So much of this reminded me why I used to love lorry driving - Fridges, bulkers, general, groupage, all sorts. But it also reminded my why after all, I gave it up after so many years as there is also lots and lots of shite to manage. I don't miss the hold ups, the miserable managers at warehouses, the stress of making a time slot, the weekends away, and the REAL hard graft!!!

Great video👍 welcome to my world i drive a timber crane and the best part of my week is working around exmoor and dartmoor on roads that were never designed for hgv traffic, that road across the levels from the peat works to shapwick is only 10 minutes from our yard not the smoothest road in the world being built across the peat moors reminds me of some of the roads across the fens when I used to do hay and straw, 24 years and still loving the job, I find myself lucky that I actually look forward to a week away working still, keep up the the good work 👌👌👍

Why is it that car drivers seem to be expert truck drivers!!! Admittedly there are inexperienced HGV drivers about, but most truck drivers who are experienced, know the space they need to make a manoeuvre. Respect to truck drivers, for the skill and nerves they need to do, for a thankless job. 👍

Reminds me of the time I went through a village in a Winnebago and the road leading up to it the bushes were hitting both sides, then we came to a bridge where there was literally half and inch either side before hitting a wall... on both sides. Was an almost abandon it job. So funny when you hit a diversion that takes you into that situation, with no option to go back the way you came.

Similar thing happened to me when I drove a rigid on a pallet network. I was delivering to somebody's stables, I'd stopped to call the customer for directions and with no response, what I thought was a helpful chap in a van behind me asked where I was delivering to, he pointed me in the direction of a place called Mow Cop in Cheshire, followed his directions exactly and it took me to a village tighter than this that basically one massive hill. I could not turn round and could not turn neither right nor left at the top. Eventually backed up, went down a side road that took me to a church, had to shunt 11 times to get around the first corner then the same again for the next. The corner after was impossible and I needed members of the public to watch me back and fourth. It was the most stressful 40 minutes of my driving career and I wanted to toss the keys out the window. I couldn't believe somebody would send me up there knowing how tight it was. If it wasn't for the help of a retired truck driver I don't think I'd have got out that day, so whoever he was, thank you! Well done Kev, you kept your head about you and cracked on!

Did the job myself back in the day, drove some right old sheds for small family firms now long gone, the guvnors could be grim, with no respect for regular servicing and drivers hours. The trucks were far from these with constant crash” gearboxes the norm, and some didn’t have power steering, we all had arms like Popeye. Most trailers were flatbed, and the load had to be roped and sheeted, lovely when it was pouring with rain. But that was the job, and the roads were a lot quieter, and the job a lot more enjoyable and stress free. Big respect to you Kev, you keep smiling when things get tight. Would I do the job now? No, not for double the money, enjoying retirement. Stay safe.

Kudos for you for driving on what are essentially as wide as suburban bicycle paths. I can appreciate that British weather is miserable 90% of the time, but at least you don't have to put up with tropical humidity and dust. The countryside always look so green in your videos.

For those of us not of English descent - how about adding a section above where you spell out the location of where you were, like the coastal road looks lovely (hopefully not too many bumps like seem to be so common in Britain) and an inviting drive for those of us who'd like to explore Britain more but are turned off by the stuffed and bumpy roads all too common.

English roads are so easy - where do you get your impressions? Cities can be congested but which city isn't? Just hire an ordinary sized car, buy a paper road map, and get off the motorways and the "A" Roads and just EXPLORE!! If you get lost, then that is all part of the joy of driving on quiet country lanes. Remember that the further north you go the quieter it gets. Yorkshire is truly fabulous as is Northumberland. Have fun!

One of my last agency gigs, I picked up 4 x 1ton diggers from Tilbury, and then pick up a trailer from London bridge.. should have been in the correct lane at Limehouse, but the traffic was stopped and I couldn't get over..took a right further on and again despair, bollards everywhere, took me ten minutes to turn right, more and More people pulling up behind me..at one point I considered turning left up a one way road 😰 somehow I got around and no one reported damage to the bollards thank the lord 😂😂 I love driving, but damn, some places..the depot I picked the trailer up froml only uses 5ton vans..mine was 28t with a huge overhang..and everyone knew it was shit, but I was only agency..love the video bruv 👍

Hello Kev I feel your pain. Last year I was going for broke "ON A TEN" and my delivery point was a place in Leicestershire called verdon timber at a place called queniborough LE7 3FP. Well starting to get a bit worried with about 9min left I shot past the place already in a weight limit albeit except for access into a proper weight limit. Well if you google street view that post code I had to screw round that mini roundabout AT RUSH HOUR with a stepframe on how I never hit anything is a miracle and my suzys were about 3 feet longer after it. Makes me laugh looking back but when I pulled up at that roundabout I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me and the truck. Great vids mate and safe trucking.

Great vlog Kev. I live in North Dorset so really enjoy your vlogs. It has been many years since I've driven on the Somerset levels but I can tell you those roads have always been bouncy and uneven.
I used to drive buses and coaches for a living and that included anything from trips to London to rural work around the narrow lanes of Dorset. I've been in some very tight spots just like you were in there near Dorchester. It was bad enough driving a coach in situations like that, so it must have been a very anxious time for you driving an artic around those lanes. Ah well, I guess it's all part of the job and only in Stiurminster Newtion would you see someone riding a mobility scooter along the road whilst walking their dog. Thanks for sharing and keep the vlogs coming.

Ive delivered metal to various Cornwall engineering firms, I once took the wrong country lane..two hours of reversing around hairpin bends with houses on the corners in an auto DAF 26t, the air kept running out, I literally had tears in my eyes, had to pick up a bit of trim here and there, but I got out! Sod doing that in an artic.. apparently someone did and they had to cut it up to get it out 😂 I don't envy the bigguns!

@@KevTee no problem man I don't think people give enough appreciation to truckers. It's crazy how much time truckers spend on the roads delivering all the stuff that people use everyday. Oh ya does UK Trucking pay good money? There always seems to be a named storm going on somewhere.. For months now.. In my area S E Bucks.. always abnormal winds and rain mainly. Crazy.. I maybe mentioning this for nothing but I would find it tricky to get used to the drivers chair moving up and down on it's own suspension all the time, especially if I was trying to brake and or accelerate and or always change gear in the days before it all went auto? 6:50 I can see the gales moving those trees.. Very exposed area.. Even the wind socks are on strike? It's odd for me.. ever since I stopped driving coaches, buses and trucks I always find I am leaving too much room on the nearside and having to constantly check my mirrors to correct it. I think I am used to being out near the centre line but also near the maximum on the nearside.. Thinking the van or 4 x 4 is wider than it is. 20+ years of habit to try to eradicate isn't going to happen over night... Even just driving a Transit or 4 x 4. Only ever stays right when riding a motorbike. I find the larger the vehicle the easier it is to manoeuvre and the better for observing the mirrors are.. For example a transit has good observational mirrors due to them being longer than wider.. But most car mirrors won't let you see the whole height of the vehicle from roof to wheels without having to adjust them.. It is difficult to explain unless you have experienced it. 36.59 I don't like the look of that bend and or road at all. Been trying to gauge the size of this wagon by looking at the shadows it casts.. In the absence of any side trailer filming. 45:03 Wouldn't they of been better positioned just pulling up tight to the black car on right? Where they have gone cuts off you being able to position yourself for that bend to see if anything else is coming your way.. They clearly have no idea what it's like to drive anything other than a Fisher Price vehicle. 50:07 Whoever expects you to get down there.. were they on a weekend pass from an asylum? 51:04 Nice landy well parked too.
