I also just picked up a P505 and it works. Super easy to install and setup. One thing that I noticed that gets brushed over is that Magene also offers L/R Balancing and Power Smoothing but at an additional cost of $40 each which is a nice touch giving you, the rider the choice of buying into that tech if you feel you need those features. What I'm saying is that Magene gives the customer the choice to buy into those features instead of expecting the customer to buy into it.
Thanks for letting us know about these extra features! As for comparing the P505 to my Wahoo kickr v5, they track each other almost perfectly except the P505 dampens peak power a bit - typically 20-40 watts at 800-1000 watts output.
@@PatrickLino still PES crank arms, but SRAM force AXS groupset. I think the Magene PES has a proprietary fit, so you can’t use this power meter with other cranks.
I just got one of these. The cranks are essentially copies of the Rotor 3D's. I've only got 3 rides on it so far but no glitching, dropping out, or spiking. Seems accurate and similar to my previous power2max.
At 809g for the entire system including chainrings, it’s not the lightest power meter on the market. But the overall value cannot be overstated. To me the best aspect is the seamless compatibility with Shimano 24 spindles.
Thanks for your test! I bought it for my Winspace T1550 with Pass Quest chainrings and I'm very happy with it. The battery also lasts quite a long time.
Same experience for me but with 105 12-speed rings, absolutely flawless so far, battery lasts a long time too (at least as long as the Di2, so I can just charge both at the same time).
Thanks for great content and glad you’re providing unbiased opinions on bike components for folks like us who want great performance without paying a premium!
Now have three of these for my two road bikes and my gravel bike. Worked faultlessly for over six months of crappy winter weather. Lots of gravel rides in all types of surfaces with lots of mud and rain. Still not needed to charge any of the cranks.
@@PatrickLino one last question can i use the shimano cranks with the power meter instead of the magene cranks? especially on the non drive side. i run different lenght cranks so its a hustle to buy a single crank arm
Hi Patrick, lately i am really enjoying your videos. I just wanted to ask you what your opinion on the Winspace agile is. The following question would be if you would recommend to go for the agile or the t1550 (i live in a very flat area). Thanks in advance keep up the great work!
I just got the PES Base 1 week ago. Unfortunately it reads 10w lower than my Thinkrider A1 power trainer that have been using for the past year which GPLama tested to under report compared to Assiomas and PES Base should be as accurate as Assiomas. Fortunately the app has an option to offset values so I just manually set it to 102%. I think its close or similar now lol.
Where you think the power is off, look at your left/right power. You have a power imbalance where one leg is pushing harder than the other. The trainer took peak power, while the power meter averaged your left and right power, hence it having a lower spike.
Did you have any problems with front derailleur rubbing? I have an 11S Shimano Ultegra Di2 8050 and once I switched to this Power Meter, my chain rubs slighting when on the largest chainring. I tried adjusting the screws but it looks like the angle of my derailleur is no longer parallel to the chainrings...
Meaning before each ride I zero the power meter. But there are 2 options. Zero ing through Magene app and also on garmin head unit I can zero power meter. Wondering if there’s a difference between either way
@@punkandprovocationit estimates the split but it’s not estimating the total power. Being in the spider means it reads the total power going through the spindle. It uses the fluctuations in power to sense and estimate are the pedal strikes
Now I have my eyes open for this TEO version. Share a link if you have one. The PES 505 spindle is steel and the combined weight for the 165mm is ~626grams - not preferable for a climbing bike Im building.
Nah Fam… the 54/40 is WHATSUP!! IMO, you’ll crush with that gear combo. You’ll be surprised and you make good power big Bro. Give it a try. *SideNote, I’m considering this PowerMeter because I need a 24mm spindle option, so this may be it, 🤔 #RobbArmstrong
I think buyer should beware regarding a purchase of this power meter. I have a left right leg power imbalance. I purchased this PM direct from Magene and tested against two pedal based power meters. Garmin Vector DUO and Favero DUO. The left/right balance was off by 10% and not even consistent on the over/under power reading. I requested warranty service and have gotten no response after multiple attempts. Total waste of $300.

Have they been reliable?
So far yes, over 4 weeks now, at least 4 times per week
For the gravel, my grx 32 tooth, being less than 110bcd would not fit. Just got an ultegra 34t .
