I had bought a Milwaukee impact off of Amazon. I called Milwaukee about a warranty question soon after it arrived and was told by Milwaukee that they do not warranty anything that is bought at a non authorized seller, which mine was. I sent the tool back and went and bought the same one at a slightly higher price to make sure my warranty as valid.
counterfeits are a big problem in the automotive world. many many auto parts you find online are counterfeit and A LOT of the cheap too good to be true priced brand name spark plugs are counterfeit and garbage. I tested counterfeit NGK spark plugs in my Honda and they lasted 15k miles before the electrode opened up about 3 times larger than specd
It's seriously getting ridiculous trying to keep up with all the counterfeit stuff but we have Nobody to blame but ourselves because unlike you and I we demand quality 3 out of 10 people won't care it's sad. Great video and information, chris. appreciate you sharing this!!
It seems people will never learn that if it's really cheap there's a reason. In the long run it's always cheaper to spend the extra $5-$20 for genuine.
I bought 4 Dewalt. Same thing. Battery shows full and can't take the load. But at the same time bought many great batteries. Hit and miss. Better than the price of the home hardware store.
I do not buy from Ebay anymore had problem with order for beats i needed OEM parts and it was sold as OEM, but counterfeit was sent it to me seller gave me runaround to return to Sieara Leon wtf it was shipped from California.
I was thinking my Ridgid impact was dying, it was the shitty battery. I thought it was a genuine Ridgid battery, I tried another battery and my impact is back to its old self. Cheers for the psa
Yeah man. Gotta really do your homework with Ebay. I NEVER make an impulse purchase on Ebay. I'll spend hours researching products before I buy anything
@@bobme4065 been rebuilding my beat up used 2011 high mile ram pickup- I’m always amazed when I can get parts that ARENT made there😑 -even overpriced factory mopar stuff… I got a good deal on rebel rims and tires from a 2016, been great deal but was bummed when I saw the “china” cast into the backs 🤷♂️
👍👌👏 Thanks for telling/showing us. I'm glad to hear that you got a refund. I guess that a lot of people don't even try this. Best regards, luck and health in particular. To all 5 of you of course.
Its not the circuit board inside, but rather the different cell characteristics they use in them. They went for ones which have a lower discharge rate, and there's your result.
.....just like the ebay earphones i bought worked for a few days then it stopped working, got a refund and sent me a new one and last only one week. Bought a nice cool looking laptop backpack- two of them and ....all of the zippers broke! Cheap cheap!
I recently bought two M12 6.0 batteries on ebay, they were listed as genuine Milwaukee Red Lithium. When I received them, there were obvious signs in the packaging and item stickers that they were fake. I did not open them, I immediately requested a refund from the seller and told them I was shipping them back. I will never buy Milwaukee batteries on ebay again. I feel bad for the legit battery sellers on there, if there are any!
Buy only batteries that come in button-welded packaging. So far, this has resulted in 3 (and I'm awaiting number 4) real Milwaukee batteries from ebay. Every fake I've seen on youtube so far has come from packaging that did not include the security welding. I don't thing the fakers has started using the security packing yet. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Spark Plugs too??? F'n UNREAL!
@@theone2be33 yep they are one of the most counterfeited items. Ebay and amazon are filled with them
they fill them with low amp/power cells but you need to test them to find out
Of course, you can replace the cells yourself with good ones and get a battery that is in no way inferior to the original one
@@DmiA yes but that beats the reason for buying cheaper one in the first place

Its good that you are letting people know about this Chris, Milwaukee is a very popular brand.
Love your work Chris.
Noticed the same on Chinesium Kobalt 24V batteries. Good for something like a portable fan but once you put load on it, it konks out.
Thanks for sharing this info, Chris!
Good on eBay for the refund. Thanks for the update.
adheres to the first rule of eBay: generally, you get what you pay for (it costs less for a reason).
Good heads up man! Tools are an investment... Tools make us money! Too good to be true.... It most likely is.... But we still get hit sometimes.
Almost fell for the counterfeit chargers but I always check the reviews, good to know about the batteries.
Thanks. Excellent explanation.
Excellent comparison.

😮😱
That's a personal problem, you need to verify what you're buying and the seller reviews, etc.
Thanks Chris!!! You're the best!

Yea I do to
Thanks for the info
Top 20 woohoo! 😂 I have that ebay batt on my 1/2 impact she knocks off the terminals. Have to slam it back every time.
Thanks for the heads-up Chris. If it comes from Chy-na I wouldn't waste my money!
Where do you think the genuine batteries are made??🤦♂️ no cordless tools for you I guess
Guess where half the components in your car are made and guarantee the device your posting on was made there !
@@mertonallowicious You're right, I buy/use corded tools. 🤫

Wow - what camera brand you use ?😃
This was filmed on my phone. S23 Plus
Would love to know if they are doing this with the m12s on ebay as well
Obviously lol
eBay or Amazon doesn’t make a difference there is fakes everywhere.
I would not have guessed

The knock off's are good for lights, fans, blowers, air compressors and tire inflators etc.

I want to see how different they are inside, but they probably don't come apart non-destructively.
You can take them apart easily, they just use cheaper, recycled lithium cells and cheaper PCB's

Theres plenty; you have to look at sellers names/reviews and verify.
Ebay has become a cesspool of bad sellers
So has Amazon!
Its pretty easy to tell who's good/real and who's not
oh my he shaved his head again lol
No one loads up their tools like that , it's like cutting bread and pushing as hard as you can . geeez
When you're working out in the field, you only have one dull blade and your cutting stainless with the sawzall, you push that hard.
@@nnkhmisc If you go out into the field and don't take spare blades and batteries etc . Geeez
China will keep sending them
spend the money get real batteries not knockoffs.
Ebay, Amazon won't do much. They just abide by their policy and move on. It's a billion dollar company. They don't care.
The ebay battery was made by millwalkee, but didnot pass thier quality test was sold as salvage, then sold on a ebay
If you look at the other video I did, you'll see doesn't look to be the case. Definitely a counterfeit
