Hold down the button on battery for 3 seconds. A real milwaukee will flash a series of codes, to indentify how many charge cycles are on the battery. Fake ones wont do this.
I'm a little surprised that Milwaukee doesn't include a circuit in their tools that will prevent them from functioning unless powered by an authentic Milwaukee battery. Probably because it would render all older batteries that were missing the matching circuit to be junk.
The LEDs have a sequence when you hold the buttons down and it shows you how many days you have had the battery since the first charge and how many times you have charged it. This is for the real Milwaukee batteries. Pretty cool video on this on TH-cam the channel and title is - Tools and Stuff - Milwaukee M18 Batteries can tell you how many times they have been charged.
And when it flashes does it show like a flash for every day or how do you know because I got a Milwaukee battery from the flea market and it had that sequence thing you say but it looks like an original, screws are good lights are good, coloring are good.
@@chickenwings5429 If it's a fake Milwaukee battery and you push the LEDS in, Hold them on, they will shut off, then a series of flashes take place. Its a genuine Milwaukee battery. If they go off and no flashes. It's a fake Milwaukee battery
Thanks, i know i need at least a 9ah on my fuel chainsaw. got a fake on ebay and all bars were blinking at once. im thinking they cant handle the power surge, like you showed the overload circuit is not up to snuff
Milwaukee doesn't make the 9ah battery anymore so those are more likely to be fake. Don't feel bad, I just bought a 9ah off eBay and I'm pretty sure it's fake, too.
I found out my HD12 is fake because the rubber on the bottom isn’t as grippy as the real ones that I have to compare with. The LEDs light up in sequence but they’re extremely dim, and yeah regular philips screws instead of Torx on the bottom. Paid $300 for 2 😢
Awww man im sorry you to spend that much on the fakes but on the bright side use them anyway for lowpower tools. I use mine with the power inverter or a light
I found out one M18 XC 6.0 was Fake because the leds light up all at once and were dim, the tabs were darker red, the font was crooked, and it was delivered today from amazon. all 4 bars lit up and it was red on the charger light for 40 minutes.
My question is why Milwaukee, DeWalt and other manufacturers are not suing for trademark violations. If you go to EBAY and other internet stores, That's all they are selling are the counterfeit ones.
Dude just got a fake M18 12.o. Almost positive. The one I got looks EXACTLY THE SAME BESIDES THE battery indicator light is dimmer and the four screws on the bottom are small Phillips
a lot of times my first queue that it could be a fake is They don’t show photos of the bottom of the battery, they just show it on its sides and from the top and you cannot tell for sure usually unless its a super high def picture. In general If they won’t show the bottom of the battery for you to verify it’s a security Torx t10 bit which is the type you couldn’t remember atm but ya if they can’t do that fuckem one tip would be to be sure to write down or block the user to avoid future interest in their listings and thanks for posting this people need to see this, I only know because I rebuilt the packs and you can get much better clones of that “bms “ board chip But you know they’re counting on the customer not to open it immediately being a brand new battery why would you unless you had reason to suspect that something was fishy you have to have a train to do prop for putting this out bro do you ever have any questions about the pack Give me a holler.
I've seen on another channel that he found a 4 ounce (~115 grams) difference in weight in the case of Milwaukee 8 amp hour battery. BTW, how's the performance of the FakeWaukee battery that was on your table -- the one with the TPCELL label? I've heard this brand has high quality cells inside.
Security torx screws, and I got screwed on dewalt and Milwaukee but honestly I still use them didn’t notice until months/ year later so whatever learned my lesson will not be a cheapskate again well I mean I’ll be less of one
The fake ones are nothing but a fire hazard. If you can not afford a real battery save your money until you can. A friend of mine lost his whole workshop due to fake Milwaukee batteries. They shorted out while charging and burnt his shop to the ground. I personally have never bought fake ones and only buy mt batteries from a certified Milwaukee retailer.

The Milwaukee font on the bottom of the real battery is smaller as well.
