I was pretty pleased with Krita's features when I ended up downloading it in a panic to do some digital design work for a volunteer project about a year ago (originally my work could all be done traditionally then scanned, but due to limited manpower I signed up to do some digital as well). didn't have much opportunity to see its linework, but I did some poster artwork on it that I was proud to turn in.
Brad, I am impressed most of all by Krita, as you are. I can never settle on one medium, and so have pen & ink sketches, oil painting-not so good at that, and acrylics. I desperately want to learn political lampooning and such as that. Really enjoyed your presentation and glad to have found your site. Thanks for all your work.

EXTREMELY helpful video. Admittedly, I went the "easy" route to start, and bought an S6 Lite because I was also looking at buying an e-book for long trips. I was slightly worried I may have over sold myself on it, but after seeing this, and realizing the potential of the available apps, and my beginner status in this whole world, I feel like I made the right move. thanks for the confidence boost, brad.
Just bought a drawing pad for my laptop. So stoked. Thanks so much for this video.

Hi!
This vid really helped me decide what free app to use. It was very informative and I like how enthusiastic your voice sounded :)
Thank you for the vid!
Actually Ibis Paint you can use two finger tap to undo, you can set it in the settings (that's actually default so idk what you did) and watching an ad = 18hrs of all brushes.
Bonny and the ad isn't that long.
@@itsjester6477 ikr!
The three fingers undo is on Sketchbook. That’s what he said xD
Bruh, I would die if I had to see ads to use a brush... I think for y'all is worth saving at least 25$ to when CSP pro has sales, cause believe me, CSP is the best. And I know 25$ is 'lot of money' but instead of buying a 200$ phone, maybe buy a 150$ one and save for this kind of programs...idk, those are personal decisions + idk if CSP is available for phones... I'll have to do a research jejejjejej
And now there's even more brushes! Honestly, only way they can improve is letting us download new brushes from online, like fonts

Ibispaint is my favorite. It’s controls are easy to understand and take control of and like he said, so much variety in brushes. The creator updates often, mostly adding new and useful brushes. Just recently, they added a hair brush and braid brush, which is basically a pre-made braid for you if you need to practice. By watching a 10-20 second ad, you unlock everything for 18 hours
ibis paint is my fav, im so sad abt the fact it can only be used on mobile. since i might switch to pc soon :(

In SketchBook Pro Mobile you just need to single finger double-tap the lower-left corner of the screen to Undo, double-tap the lower-right corner to Redo. I never use the Three finger swipe.
You mean to tell me I've been using this app wrong?.... You shattered my world view.
I never use the 3 finger swap too. 🙂
@@samueldraws - The top-right corner is for resetting the canvas view, but you can actually set the controls in the App's preferences. I set the Top-left corner to go back to the previous color.
I just click the little circle where everything pops up :/
Before this I never even knew there was a 3 finger swipe on it 😂
First one is already a must try for me.
Similar to photoshop, available on my phone, possible candidate for an affordable computer software too which I wasn't even looking for, so I've got what I've come for, thank you, have a lovely day!
Awesome work, Enjoyed watching it!
It's nice to know that there are a lot of great free alternatives that work just as well as the more commercialized softwares like Adobe Photoshop or Procreate. Not everyone can afford to pay monthly subscriptions to these expensive programs, and it can get a little discouraging to be an artist that wants to produce amazing work but doesn't have access to these glorified programs.
I totally agree with every word that you typed, because I'm on low funds not by choice but its what has changed my life within a year and I take care of my 73 mom whom is fading away from Alzheimer's and Parkinson as well as soon I'll be getting at least 4 teeth removed and my Insurance doesn't pay for it

Sketchbook is really, REALLY awesome. It's incredibly user friendly and I think elementary school kids would be able to get the hang of it quickly. It's like a grown up version of MS paint!
I try sketchbook on my frist pen display and it is SO easy to understand and use and you can also animate whit it. I think it can be a good start

Thanks for the help brad! I'm just starting to draw and I didn't know where to start or what app I should use. In fact, you even helped me choose my first drawing tablet! And...
Your great video got me to like it! :)
In Krita there's also an uber fast method now for 1-click coloring flats (flat coloring), extremely useful for comics. Can save hours. I am not sure if you mentioned it...
Plus for those making textures, seamless, tiling, you have a sort of wraparound mode that is a heaven's gift for that matter (or anything tiling).
I freaking love your art style!
thank you for this video, very helpful
Krita is so good! The guys at Blender studio used it to texture for Spring in conjunction with Blender texture paint.
Having a Krita animation tutorial would be awesome! I’ve tried it out before but I keep getting a little lost and overwhelmed. So by the time I draw the first few frames, I’m worn out and I ditch the whole thing haha

Hey Brad, I really come to enjoy your videos. :-) Good work!
I feel insecure sometimes to understand where the differences between all apps are and as an amateur with a day job, I dont have the time to learn all the programs...
What I want to say: It would be cool to have a orientation video: What programs exist for what... are there differences?
You always point out that when it comes to the equipment, like tablets, its a matter of preferences.
I think that goes for the programs as well. Maybe you can give us a tour around modern programs!
Would be cool and Im already hyped to watch it. :-)
You have a good mascot! And my favorite software would have to be Ibis Paint X,since it’s the only I attempted drawing on.
