The first time I was able to go all out and buy nothing but the best, I had a newly released Pentium II MMX at a whopping...450 MHz, I want to say. Anything over 1 GHz almost still sounds like overkill to me. :(
@sᴀᴠɪᴏᴜʀ ᴍᴀᴄʜɪɴᴇ not necessarily. if Timmy is a tech, he'll be cleaning PCs for clients on the regular. 6 cans @ $4/can = $36 CAD. for 135 USD get a cheapo 24L compressor that'll do the job
Nice repair. I did a similar one years ago - a soft toothbrush and some 90% IPA got me home on the socket. For bending pins back, a tip that one of my mentors taught me was to use a mechanical pencil with no lead in it - the pin fits perfectly inside of the tip and gives you good control. I've only had to do it twice, but it worked like a champ both times. Cheers!
The CPU coming out and bending the pins was a feature on those Phenom processors. Almost every one I have ever worked on came out the same way. I have become quite the expert in pin straightening over the years.
That laugh when the CPU comes out with the cooler reminds me of Salem from the old tv show Sabrina the teenage witch. Where do I get one of those stands that you're using?
I've seen some dust buildup in my day but that's the first time I've ever seen a heatsink with a full beard. Nice work, Timmy Joe! And Happy Birthday!!!!!!
Congrats on making it another year! I've learned to twist the cooler back and forth not pulling or pushing up to break that seal that makes it pull processors out of the socket.. After the second one and having to spend a day straightening pins..
Couple of tips for you, NEVER spray a can of air on powered equipment and Twist the cooler off instead of just yanking it out, those bent pins were your fault.
You must go through those air cans like crazy. I'd recommend you just pick up a cheap air compressor and get a mechanic style blow gun. It will save you money in the long run.
@@Crunchifyable2 The triggers on them are pressure sensitive meaning you can adjust the amount of air pressure released. Just be careful and it will be fine.

The last time I dealt with a Molex fan connector was probably about a decade ago, but that tip with plugging the connector in the wrong way round was still amazing :D
You should of gave that motherboard a alcohol bath, and tooth brush to get the gunk from that socket. Probably would of fix that sensor issue not being able to make contact with a pin from CPU.
@sub1ime81 😆 I have the same thing, It’s supposed to be an electrical brush and the handle is wood. Works great when I get used parts clean them up work and look like new.
Free tech tip: Use an electric leaf blower to clean out dust. It works and doesn't damage anything. You should do a video on it. The can of air is a ripoff.
Happy Birthday !!!! Wish you all good things in this new year, both for you and your family! Stay healthy, stay safe, stay fresh!!! Hope to see more videos from you good luck!!
Holy hell, an Antec 300. I had mine since 2008. I just got rid of it last month. 12 years, and 5 different builds went into that thing. Still had the original 120 and 140 exhaust. It was a chunky boy, but it did everything I needed it to do. Was definitely a great value case for what it was at $69.99 USD. I ended up getting rid of it because it just had almost no cable management to work with. Had plenty of cooling though.
Heh, I know that case, lol. I used it for my mother's desktop in 2010. That PC is still truckin' today, I've updated it here and there, but its still most of its original components I put into it. Its an older Phenom 2 Quad Core in her PC, X955 Black Edition, still trucking today, even with Windows 10.
Hey just a tip that I've learned from my own experience. Buy a shopvac that you can dedicate to cleaning out computers. It'll blow clean air, you only need to buy it once, and it doesn't get cold or have the risk of dripping condensation.
