Really cool! I want to build off this design and take it to 'jet' propulsion (still tiller steer). Would be neat to have 'bursts' of power, while staying efficient when idling at lower speeds in terms of Amp usage.
Great project and one I’m itching to do. Bit late to the party but could you explain exactly how the cooling works for the motor? Are the tubes just stuffed in the box or is there some kind of liquid heat exchanger in that motor? Also I’m thinking if you used the original cowl with some judicious venting you might be able to manage the heat more easily due to the likely larger internal air space.
Hi @motorv8N ! No heat exchanger, purely runs water through the water mantel in the motor, and you're right of course, the more cooling, the better! /J

I was wondering if that motor could replace my 8hp diesel in my sailboat? One of the causes of MS is insulin resistens, so if one cures that the effects of MS could be reduced. IR you cure with the carnivore diet, no carbs in and the problem goes away.
Hi @Servant_of_Christ ! Thanks for watching, and yes the motor could replace your sailboat motor. You can check out the specs here: www.marsons.se Thanks for your kind remark about MS, it is correct that diet/excercise/lifestyle have a huge impact on the wellbeing of a person with MS. I've basically eaten plant-based for years, and my physical ability is classed as "elite sportsperson. Hey guys what is that specific motor and the specs? I may build one. I live on a sailboat and a set up like that would be nice. I make my own power thru solar for my home(sailboat). Would like to have an electric motor for my dingy vs my 6hp 4 stroke that I’m using now. Cost me $0 dollars to charge my lifepo4 battery banks including whatever battery I would use for the outboard. Thanks for your time
Hi guys , love your work. I am very interested in this electric motor stuff . I was wondering would a washing machine motor be good to use and what type of battery set up would I need?
Hi @Daniel Galvin! Thanks for dropping by! A bunch of parameters need to be decided when choosing a motor. I'm sure you could get a washing machine motor to work, but it could be tricky when pairing with controllers, batteries etc. There are some good quality motors, which aren't too expensive, like the one you can get from our website, which are probably much better to use. At the same time, it could be a real lot of fun getting a washing machine motor to work! Regards John
Hey there @tilmaen! Jack here! The motor is being water cooled. The plastic hoses you see run from the original piping of the bottom unit, from the impeller, up through the motors internal water cooling jacket, and out the back of the casing👍 Water cooling is absolutely necessary unless you run the motor at very low speeds! These things produce a lot of heat, and can potentially fry themselves within minutes if not cooled properly! Hope that answers your question! Thanks for watching🍻 /Jack

Maybe yeah😅 Shouldn't really be necessary if you keep away from the mistakes we made... flipping the motor and mounting it directly to the bottom plate pretty much eliminated any alignment issues we had to start with! But yeah, maybe a few millimeters of extra clearance would be good, just so if any debris gets in it doesn't scuff up those beautiful motors🙃 Thanks for sticking around🍻 /Jack

Awesome video and great idea for your hardware storage! Cheers from Canada, Subscribed!
Thanks for watching @remi009340👍
Great video, couldn't find the link to purchase the motor. Who makes the motor and what's the model number. l want to purchase one do they have a website
Hi @Lewis Martin!
It should be back on the website now, we needed to adjust some of the watercooling on it. :)

You can check out the specs here: www.marsons.se
Thanks for your kind remark about MS, it is correct that diet/excercise/lifestyle have a huge impact on the wellbeing of a person with MS. I've basically eaten plant-based for years, and my physical ability is classed as "elite sportsperson. When I found out I had MS a few months ago, I educated myself extensively in the topic, and have trimmed a few things that i identified could be improved. Together with great medication, I am doing really well.
Thanks again, have a great day!

Update 20230622: Hi everyone! Thankyou for your patience. Our Website is now up and running again, so head over to marsons.se to get your hands on any electronics you might need for your builds! The webstore will be expanding over time, and we will make videos about our kits showcasing how to use them😃
If you are looking for something that isn't in the store yet, odds are we can still help you. So feel free to email us at info@marsons.se if you have any questions! Cheers🍻
Hello brother, I admire you and your inventions. Honestly, I wanted to make like 3 transformers, but I couldn't. Can you help me? I'm in a village and we suffer from high fuel costs. I want such an engine, and I will be very thankful to you.
Hi @Riadaljana! Would love to help, but unfortunately we don't have the opportunity for that! Thanks for watching! /John
Thanks for your time
Hi @Terra Trekker!
Grab the motor via our website: www.marsons.se. Will do perfectly for a small dingy :)
Have a great day!

Good work, good boat.
Thank you @Breeze! Cheers!
I don't quite get how you cool the motor. Is it just air cooling and the air is cooled by having the hose go through the casing?
Hey there @tilmaen!
Jack here!
The motor is being water cooled. The plastic hoses you see run from the original piping of the bottom unit, from the impeller, up through the motors internal water cooling jacket, and out the back of the casing👍 Water cooling is absolutely necessary unless you run the motor at very low speeds! These things produce a lot of heat, and can potentially fry themselves within minutes if not cooled properly!
Hope that answers your question!
Thanks for watching🍻

Hi there!
You can purchase the motor in the video, with the shaft bottom mounted, from our website😊
They are in stock so you should receive it quite quickly! You can order here:
www.marsons.se/marsons-omv1-zq5hxp
Good luck with your project! Keep us updated👍

What are the specs of the motor
Hi @oilio! Shoot us an email, site is on its way atm👍👍 info@marsons.se 👍👍 /john
Great video! Pardon my hearing, but what electric motor is that? And how did you modulate the speed?
@earnestbass4043 THanks fro the comment! The motor can be purchased on our website: www.marsons.se, and modulateing the speed is with a remote control. Have a great day! /John
Definitely use a wider housing. Minimizes wear
Maybe yeah😅 Shouldn't really be necessary if you keep away from the mistakes we made... flipping the motor and mounting it directly to the bottom plate pretty much eliminated any alignment issues we had to start with! But yeah, maybe a few millimeters of extra clearance would be good, just so if any debris gets in it doesn't scuff up those beautiful motors🙃
Thanks for sticking around🍻
/Jack
@@johndehosson that's my thought. Always have a good bit of clearance
Smooth! I love it.

Tons of questions being a sparky motor hp voltage controller DC inverted to a c or not etc
Most things are in the vid, or the comments here @joesutherland225 . As a sparky you'd do really well with this stuff! /J
What HP are you trying to mimic , battery voltage did you install
Hi @Karl! In this writing moment, I'm not sure exactly what we run (it is in the video somewhere), but (I think) we output around 8kW for daily use. /John
Can you use it in saltwater?
Hi @Gilbert Cordina! I'd say that would be fine. Check electric corrosion, use an anode, and possible separate cooling with a heat exchanger and this would be a sure fire way to do it in saltwater! Thanks for dropping by! /John
Sandy Munroe would be impressed 😂
@tony.engineering3265 It'd be an honour for the guy to rip the build to pieces😅

What kind of controller do you use to control the throttle of the motor. And I was curious how the wiring works.

I belive i have seen a video where you built it from the beginning using wood and along that video there was a list if i remember right, either attached to the videodescription or like a pdf or something of all the parts used with partsnumber and where to buy them?
Or have i just dreamt that? :)
I´m seriously considering building one of these of youre design when you released the second video cause i love my fishingboat but hates the sound and polution it makes :P
Really looking forward and great job, really appreciate it!
Hi Mikael! Nice to have you around, is it at all possible we may even have chatted at one stage? Har för mig att vi sågs på nåt forum? :) And yeah, you're attentive as! There is a video of the wooden model, a parts description and list floating around somewhere, just not sure where anymore! Hope you can do your own build, and that the next videos answer your questions around the ESC and batteries. After that, just scale it to what you want! /John

Hi @FredPortelli! Sorry about that, our website www.marsons.se is getting a complete rebuild at the moment! It will be ready in a couple of days!
Ok found link. Your on a roll. Seriously you should build pre made kits of all the stuff. So guys like me can order it. And you make some cash.
@Guy Ruff, thanks! An absolute honour you think Jack and I are worthy of that! To make things better, we're actually doing that! Within about two weeks we will be releasing the website for our electric airboat and outboard. Full builds or kits, it's all happening!👍👍 For our part, we're just stoked if you can share it around and get us some subscribers and likes, that really helps us a lot👍👍🍻
What run time/ distance could you cover eith this on your battery pack?
Hey mate!
Jack here!
With this old battery we used to get 5-10kms of range. With our current battery setup of 4.8kWh, we can get 10-15kms of open water running of the airboat. Haven't tested with an outboard just yet, but should be upwards of 20-25kms at cruising speed... So plenty for most I'd say :)
Have a good one🍻
