    Your adapter plate is mostly blocking off any cooling water flow through the motor. Just something to think about.
    Also, you might want to consider a grit-screen on the inlet side of the motor to keep sand from getting between the poles on rotor and the windings on the stator. A certain amount of sand and grit is ferrous (iron) and will stick to the rotor, so a cleaning might be something you want to do once or twice a season.

    I was thinking when you were milling it why you didn't have coolant running. I miss that sound so much. I worked at IKS for years running cnc machines, milling. Left there and ended up as Cad operator and ran the machines for a smaller company. A startup type deal and since I went to school for E.G.T., and then ran machines for years, I reckon they thought I was the perfect man for the job except they only forgot one thing and that was the money. LOL. But in all serious I am enjoying watching this so much people don't understand. Creating things, having to use your mind for something besides an assembly line, no pun intended, and then watching a large machine make something that you really didn't design but still put your little spin on because i'm sure you know there's many different ways to get from start to finish. The only thing that I didn't do is send the parts to heat treat. Once it was off my machine or machines, that was it for my part. After a while we began getting larger orders and much more runtime on the machines so we got another CNC Operator hired to help out. I don't know if you used Autocad and or Smartcam but if you have then you know how finicky smartcam can be the way it writes the code, how the steps are. If you don't draw it out in the order of the way you want the machine to cut it, you can create a mess but now i've been out the game for 15 years now so i'm sure programs have changed for the better. We would get these Engineers in at both companies and I would always try and explain to them how much programming they had to do down on the floor because of that little bit of difference between programs but just reminiscing. I hope you enjoy making this stuff as much as I love watching it so keep up the good work. Have a great weekend and God Bless.

    You talk about volts, amps and watts. If you look into “Ohms Law” wattage remains constant, as the voltage increases amperage draw decreases.

    • @bhoutdoors507
      @bhoutdoors507 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That isn’t Ohm’s Law that’s just the definition of a watt. Ohm’s Law is V = I * R

    • @Andy-df5fj
      @Andy-df5fj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Only if power remains constant, which it doesn't.

    • @nickopedia5669
      @nickopedia5669 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to ohm's law, wattage does NOT remain constant. as voltage goes up, the current goes up, and therefore the power goes up.
      And none of that matters because this is a motor that is primarily ruled by inductance. However, it does follow a similar path where more voltage than rated means you have higher "leftover" voltage while at a high rpm, which means you can achieve higher current (up to the maximum torque) even at the max RPM. And that's a LOT more wattage than the motor is rated for, despite being under the maximum current limits.

      I guess their best chance from now on is in the bath tub with epsom salt. Lol. But seriously, Thanks! I won’t be wading the bay anymore. • @RC-ij4je
      @RC-ij4je 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The motor on my diy electric sup had similar bearings and after 5 runs it got really noisy. Better off getting ceramic or stainless bearings. Another concern is the rust on the magnets, maybe apply a thin layer of epoxy around the rotor to avoid that.

    • @BIGWIGGLE223
      @BIGWIGGLE223 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RC-ij4je doing some rust prevention for those magnets is a good idea, but what material do they use for the magnets in these kinda motors?? Are they neodymium? I'd imagine they are if they're high quality motors, but I wonder if it is even feasible to get a layer thin enough to to fit that tight gap they build into those motors. I guess you could just vacuum seal the motor in a way that forced the resin away from that gap?? But at the same time, if you're constantly running it and careful to clean it and dry it with the utmost care after each use you could prevent rust buildup that could shorten the life of the motor. Then you just spend all your fun time preventing rust? I dunno though.....I am no expert, but this subject alone would be a great learning adventure.

      +BIG WIGGLE Yuo Neodymium. There is a vid before this vid and I disassemble the motor. Magnets are crazy strong. They are also wrapped and epoxy coated. Not sure how long this will last in the water. Its one of the reasons I want to test it. Time will tell. Sand is an issue an well as salt water. They could kill the motor quickly. My lake is clear fresh water and I plan to only use the motor in deep clean water. The big motor at the beginning of the vid is supposed to be safe in salt water. We will see. Finished up most of the fab on the mount today. Check out my Instagram. Kayak test video drops this weekend!

    Or a detail information of the name of the parts and we can look for it?

    Put a couple of wings on your boat, and I’m going to predict that motor will propel your kayak into flight. Looks way too fast, in my opinion. Can’t wait to see the test run 😉.

    Is there a parts list for this? Looking to put one on my touring kayak to rip through the heavy stuff, or just be lazy on those long paddles

    • @TheGoodoftheLand
      @TheGoodoftheLand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There will be. Wait a bit and let me make all of the costly mistakes. In the end we will have tested at least four motors and speed controls. Just install the big motor today and the amp and voltage meter. I will be recording everything. Im probably going to build and sell mounts.

    Doesn't cavitation start when the prop is going too fast through the water if it's not designed for that speed ?

    • @TheGoodoftheLand
      @TheGoodoftheLand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sparky Projects Yes. It actually pulls the air from the water. It can also be caused by the prop pulling air into the prop stream. This should help with that as well as thrust vectoring for better steering and control. Can't wait ti test it!!
