One quick note: most USB C hubs will not output USB video signals, so these glasses won't likely work if you are trying to plug into a conventional USB C hub on the market. This is relevant in case people are trying to conduct a power passthrough to their device (if it only has one USB C port, like the Steam Deck) while using the glasses.

Having the cable pre-attched like that is a design mistake. Easier to break and screwed if cable gets damaged.

Yeah it's also a design flaw in most USB hubs to have a cable built in. These are more expensive than the USB hubs I won't get anything but earbuds or headphones that have permanent cable attachments. With headphones it can be hard to find headphones 🎧 that have detachable cable when you need a cable like PS4 is very finicky about Bluetooth Headphones and the few times I've successfully connected Bluetooth headphones if I'm playing with someone and using pay audio chat I cut in and out. Something that's not an issue when I plug headphones into my duelshock 4 controller
I wish more companies would rethink permanently attached cables in their design if the cable gets damaged the whole device must be replaced. Can't seem to find any USB hubs with detachable cable

Just got mine today Lon (using your link!) Man it's amazing how many of these glasses makers skimp on letting you adjust your PD. You can see from all the comments about blurryness in the corners that that is all folks having PD issues. With my PD (70) the blur is just atrocious! If I close one eye it looks amazing, but if they'd just let you adjust PD even if through a software adjustment (move the images toward the outside of the classes) they'd solve so many of these issues, though obviously a harware ability to move the lenses apart via a dial or even pushing with your fingers would fix this. As you also suggested a 'zoom out' would also somewhat ameliorate this.
But man is that picture gorgeous. On the fence about whether I'll return these.

Yeah the visual quality really surprised me! If only they could get a little adjustability into this market I think there would be lots of consumer interest.

@@Hello-mu1et yup, I think the tech is not there yet, at least not in our preferred form factor. The Apple vision for instance has the necessary resolution and quality for text and color accuracy, but it's too big and comes with an OS which I definitely don't want. To get this experience into simple glasses might require some more iterations down the line.

@@_modiX I wonder what is the display latency here when they have 120hz in glasses. Was thinking about getting it for gaming but picture quality feels like it's not even worth it yet. Normal monitors have 0.03ms-1ms latency for gaming.

Text is always where you really see if you have high resolution or not. 1080p at a 86 inch display perceived to be just a couple of metres away makes the pixels quite large.

The prices are already high and having to get a set of glasses made for every device is prohibitively expensive. I just don’t understand why there isn’t more effort put into making this stuff work out of the box for wearers of lenses.

USB 3.0 Type-A connector also supports full HD video output with full audio & touchscreen support. Have you tried using a Type-A to Type-C adapter to see if it made any kind of difference? Or does it have a separate cable where you can replace it with a USB 3.x Type-A on one end with a USB 3.x Type-C on the other?

Lon, had no idea you used progressives. I bought the X-real Air glasses and struggle with using them for the same reason, however I've been too lazy to get the prescription lenses so far. The biggest issue I have with this concept is that many devices do not output video over USB including my Google Pixel phones.

I have nreal airs, and had to adjust my hdmi output - on my laptop to 200 times. I got a much better picture doing that. I also used from Amazon - PeakDo HDMI to USB C Adapter 4K@60Hz. as my hdmi - usb c connection. They work great to me. It made a real difference making my 2nd output screen (from my pc's view point - pun intended) 200 times. Of course I had to readjust my laptop's display back when I was done and that was kind of a pain, as I don't adjust my screen resolution too often and always have to think of the procedures on how to do it, every time. These glasses look nice, but I really do not need a 2nd pair of glasses, as nice as these look.

Don't buy any AR/Display glasses. Unless you have a small head or you are a child(not an adult child). You need to know the IPD of your eyes and the distance between the screens of the AR/Display glasses before you buy a set. It's funny you watch reviews of AR/display glasses, the reviewers look like they are cross-eyed because the screens are set so close together. These reviewers are clueless to why the screen looks blurry on the outer right and left sides. The outer sides look blurry because there is no IPD/PD setting and the screens are set too close together. All the glasses look like they are made for a kid or an adult with a small head. The quest 2 has three settings IPD 58mm, 63mm, and 68mm. The quest 3 has a IPD setting with a range of 58mm - 71mm. I hope all the AR/Display glasses brands read this!

Once devices like this support 3D, they'll be worth considering But otherwise seems like a missed opportunity, there are a million ways to get a flat image... and in this case you have individual displays per-eye, so you could get perfect stereo without ghosting

Reason i ask, i had a Samsung Odyssey+ vr and the psvr1 headset. Oleds. But the blacks are just rough and elevated. An intentional design maybe? Limitations of super small displays? Id go as far as to say the quest 3 has better blacks than those 2 oled displays.
