    I've tried this app before. And got similar issues with it regarding translating structured training i to real world (road and gravel) was beyond tricky, great for the trainer though. Another thing was the "adaptive training" calculated an FTP improvement of 30% of its own calculation over night (after a good session) and made any training almost impossible to follow. Needed to do a test and manually override the AI result. So AI is not always that "I"

      yeah, pretty risk to run an ad for software that most people know has a better alternative. I assume they will start pushing myWhoosh next, thinking no one knows about Zwift... Also I feel like "AI' is almost too much for the training which can be pretty simple - if your FTP is X, you set your intervals at a % of X and progressively make them harder or longer, with rest/recovery days in between. It's pretty simple really.

    1. Your improvements - you should have put up w/kg because if you also lost 5kg and increases your power, your real gain is a lot greater.
    2. You didn’t comment on whether you would have got similar or better results, esp the ‘marginal gain’, by using a human coach.

  • @socopower
    @socopower ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Looks like a great thing to go through as a couple! However I have to say there were two issues here: there’s no way two people with such different fitness should follow the same training plan. Another great insight from the latest GCN dynamic duo. AI is certainly a curious method but if it makes adjustments based on your workout results it sounds like a well thought out program. If a real coach refuses to make these changes based on circumstances it's a sure sign you've hired a shit coach and need to fire them.

  • @larter_larter
    @larter_larter ปีที่แล้ว

    My concern about using AI as a coach is to what extent it will consider the human emotional aspect, when suggesting a training plan. Will it primarily focus on providing the most efficient training plan for a specific goal? That might work perfect for a robot cyclist, but a human is more complex. The most efficient plan might not be the most efficient in combination with human feelings.

    • @dthornew
      @dthornew ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, at least you can tell it how you feel on a daily basis, as well as give feedback on each training segment, including RPE. That's at least better than my experience with the Zwift training plans.

    Ist the whole idea of AI, not that you wouldnt have to put in data and do ramptests?? If you give it acess to your history, like STRAVA, Trainingpeaks etc. Should it not find out who you are and hat you should do??

    Why wouldn't AI coaching closely duplicate human coaching efforts? Further, there is likely a broad disparity in human coaches.
    AI algorithms are based upon the same protocols that humans choose to coach their riders.
    Over time as AI further evolves, it will supplant a human coach because AI will draw from a larger data base. Disparity in calculation capability between AI and humans for best regiments in cycling training is likely miniscule. Humans are limited by the size of their brain cortex in terms of information capacity and why the human race is doomed. 😉
    Good luck to you two in your marriage and cycling endeavors. To me personally, trying to find that last watt of FTP takes the fun out of it....or you have to really want it bad and quite rare for a married couple to share exactly the same motivation.

    Most “normal” coaches just put your data through their program on the pc and send you a schedule that they have absolutely nothing to do with. So , what’s the difference with AI? None.

    A bit disappointed this is a sponsored video. A much more informative video would be been to have 4 cyclists being coached. 2 with real life coach and 2 with an AI coach. But one of the two, in each group, would be blind to the experiment and not know what type of coach they had. The similar testing could be done before and after to gauge performance increase. Also not have any sponsors (related to coaching) to remove any possible bias.

    • @blairdrader5490
      @blairdrader5490 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      GCN always produces interesting content, non-biased experiments are not really part of it. I'm not sure but I'd guess that most reviews are paid product placements so you have to take it with a grain of salt. You make an excellent proposal for comparison though.
