The hide-and-seek concept is such a trope in horror games these days, but Alien Isolation made it unique. I REALLY HOPE a sequel, prequel, or remake is somehow put into works soon. Holding fast that concept of horrifying gameplay.

Didn't even last ten minutes and the alien hadn't even shown up, before he started saying "THIS GAME SUCKS, MAN!" That's how you know he was loving it. ^___^
OR the people who don't suck everything off just because its tre kewl, actually see that it has problems, that its not particularly amazing, that the AI has a habit of frequently breaking and getting stuck in this loop to where you get trapped in things until you finally reload to fix the AI, that the working Joes being everywhere gets really old, the 2nd half practically turns into a shooter and the game is waaaayyyy too long.....Its good, but sure as shit isn't the masterpiece that the fanturds jerk off over it about.

Really? He actively used the tracker to check if it left, it would have been hilarious if while its up it darted towards him during the main playthrough
@@likky1 essentially if you held it out permenantly, the alien would find you. If you held it out for more than say 5 seconds it'll head in the direction of the noise. If you get it out very breifly to do a quick check you should be ok. usually what would happen is the alien wouldn't be in his sights so he'd cautiously hold the tracker out for 10-40 seconds before moving on. Then the alien showed up & he'd get frustrated that it knew where he was for 'no reason'. But in reality he was unintentionally leading the alien to him, by relying on the tracker too much. . Basically, he kept using the tracker long enough for the alien to get a rough idea of where he was. but not long enough for the alien to know exactly where he was. Whilst it wasn't enough to get him killed even more, it was enough to make the game a lot harder.
If your mic is connected to the system you’re playing on, yes the alien can find you using your mic. Also on hard difficulty the scanners beeps and boops also alert the alien.
@@pcdave5605 after looking into it, this was not implemented onto the pc port of the game and I’m unsure of why they wouldn’t have such a core mechanic implemented on pc as well.

I think the trick to this game is to not take too long waiting for the alien to appear, you gotta move quick (but not sprint) to confuse the AI and force it to teleport the alien. If it’s blocking your path, go the long route.
Yeah, Alien Isolation rewards you for bravery (but not the dumb kind), it has all of these hiding places that do help when the Xenomorph is basically entering the room you're in, but otherwise they are a temptation to give into fear and become trapped, if the player spends a lot of time hiding, the Xenomorph eventually starts to narrow down where they can be, and eventually it will get them, even if they're inside a damn box.
Coolest thing about how accurate this game is to the movies is sometimes when you catch the xeno in just the right light you can see through the transparent "shell" on the top of it's head and you can see the empty eye sockets inside of it, like the very first xenomorph design from the first movie that was supposed to have a human skull for a face 😨😨

It's why he turns up after where Birkin supposedly would have killed him in Claire's route.
This game is amazing, Alien and Aliens are fucking masterpieces of movies. This DLC was pretty good. I don't think we will ever get a good Alien Single player game ever again, They should make a game where you play as Ripley going through the events of Alien 1 and Alien 2 with Newt, Burke, Gorman, Bishop and everyone. I would buy that. Even though Crew Expendable is Alien 1's Story.

I played this game with my friend whenever I visited his place back in the day. By that I mean I played while he watched, because he didn't have the nerve to play himself!
I usually don't react much when I got jump scared, but this game... This game made me let my voice out a little bit in some parts! Still not screamed tho.
I'm rather desensitized to horror, as much as I love the genre, and I have to like, lower my guard and try to really get into movies and games so that I can enjoy them, but with Alien Isolation there's no need, the way they made this creature is so fucking good, the sound effects, the movement, the AI, the soundtrack, the environments, it's perfection. Playing Alien Isolation is like being trapped in a room with an angry tiger, it's like "who gives a shit that you're desensitized, this thing will fucking _kill you dead_ !"

I've not even began watching this, but I have to say, I'm excited anyone (you in particular!) has gone back to revisit Alien Isolation. For any reason! Especially the DLC. The content's not amazing or uninspectated, but it is more of the great horror elements I loved from this game! A bad-ass game that ABSOLUTELY needs A SEQUEL, PREQUEL, OR REMAKE OF ANY KIND. So long as the original spooky hiding system and AI are continued, or expanded on. ...Is my only small request...

Max, I just wanted to put this here. I have been thinking about this recently. Alien is the only horror movie I actively think about. I have this thing called a startle reflex so I can't watch most horror movies but, when you put this up it made my think about it all over again.
So sad that Alien Isolation cannot happen again. Really hoping we get something like this soon to relive some of the best horror movies of all time! Something like this and the Thing would be probably my #1 game of all time!
I'm actually surprised you didn't get murked in the vents at all during the original game playthrough. I played it on Normal first time and could not progress past the "restart the generator all the way on the other side of the freaking deck" level near the end. I got killed in the vent every single time right before the elevator. It really screwed with my whole "safe in the vents" fallback lmao

I bought this game on pre-order for £44, ive played it for a grand total of 3 hours, i never made it past the medical wing, i played on hard, and never realized that the beeping from the motion sensor alerted the alien, i always wondered how it kept finding me xD Ive been haunted by it ever since i failed to continue it, its been 7 years now....and im still afraid to pick it back up again, and ive played a LOT of horror games in the past, but this one does things to me, ive never summed up the courage to pick it up again, not even for halloweens, and im a 32 year old man xD

I played this game with my friend whenever I visited his place back in the day.
By that I mean I played while he watched, because he didn't have the nerve to play himself!
I usually don't react much when I got jump scared, but this game... This game made me let my voice out a little bit in some parts! Still not screamed tho.
I'm rather desensitized to horror, as much as I love the genre, and I have to like, lower my guard and try to really get into movies and games so that I can enjoy them, but with Alien Isolation there's no need, the way they made this creature is so fucking good, the sound effects, the movement, the AI, the soundtrack, the environments, it's perfection. Playing Alien Isolation is like being trapped in a room with an angry tiger, it's like "who gives a shit that you're desensitized, this thing will fucking _kill you dead_ !"

I've not even began watching this, but I have to say, I'm excited anyone (you in particular!) has gone back to revisit Alien Isolation. For any reason! Especially the DLC. The content's not amazing or uninspectated, but it is more of the great horror elements I loved from this game! A bad-ass game that ABSOLUTELY needs A SEQUEL, PREQUEL, OR REMAKE OF ANY KIND. So long as the original spooky hiding system and AI are continued, or expanded on. ...Is my only small request...
I agree with you Alien isolation is also my favorite childhood game and wish it got a sequel because it leaves on a cliff hanger and my favorite personal horror game of 2020 and I couldn’t beat it when it first came out but I officially beat last year And I want to play the DLC on ps4.🎸❤️🎃🥰

Max, I just wanted to put this here. I have been thinking about this recently. Alien is the only horror movie I actively think about. I have this thing called a startle reflex so I can't watch most horror movies but, when you put this up it made my think about it all over again.
So sad that Alien Isolation cannot happen again. Really hoping we get something like this soon to relive some of the best horror movies of all time! Something like this and the Thing would be probably my #1 game of all time!
I'm just happy that people still play this game.

I'm actually surprised you didn't get murked in the vents at all during the original game playthrough. I played it on Normal first time and could not progress past the "restart the generator all the way on the other side of the freaking deck" level near the end. I got killed in the vent every single time right before the elevator. It really screwed with my whole "safe in the vents" fallback lmao

I bought this game on pre-order for £44, ive played it for a grand total of 3 hours, i never made it past the medical wing, i played on hard, and never realized that the beeping from the motion sensor alerted the alien, i always wondered how it kept finding me xD
Ive been haunted by it ever since i failed to continue it, its been 7 years now....and im still afraid to pick it back up again, and ive played a LOT of horror games in the past, but this one does things to me, ive never summed up the courage to pick it up again, not even for halloweens, and im a 32 year old man xD
Meticulous attention to detail by the devs. A lot of love went into this game...though the Alien's legs are wrong...
