- Wow this one was the craziest one we've ever gotten. LOL at the girl who never heard of Utah. Also since when is being able to name three countries "knowing history". Lots of people don't know how many states there are in the US, basic math, or what century they're in BUT they DO know the names of all the Kardashians! Im 22 and have personally seen how my generation is, we need some serious damn help. Sometimes I feel like I have the highest IQ known in human history compared to people around me...just for answering basic questions. Not eneryone is like this in my generation tho :)

I heard on the radio the other day why this is happening. In the US, a teacher gets check on every two years and asked how they are doing. There are 6 criterias but none of those ask if they are teaching anything. Therefore, a teacher legally does not have to teach. After two years the teacher is tenured and cannot be fired as easily unless they do something very bad.
There are good teachers out there, but usually the ones that are good are in the good districts because of the students they are teaching because they care, and their parents care.
Edit: Putting this in to clarify what I heard. It was on the Dennis Prager radio show last week. A newly retired 37 year teacher in the California state, I believe just LA but could have been more was describing this. Do not remember his name.

States, for example, may have both because of referendums and the legislation may bring a direct vote like abortion in Kansas. Any system that allows citizens to vote for outcomes indirectly or directly is a form of democracy. See the formal definition of democracy. I am a gen Z who is raised in Eastern Europe, I literally wouldn't had past kindergarten if I didn't knew how to answer to most of this questions, I refuse to be associated with this kind of people. American kids don't know how appreciate a decent educational system.

TBF, geography is largely intertwined with history. "California" as a state didn't always exist. And probably won't exist for very long. Etc...

Because the American education system groups history, geography, and political science into "Social Studies" to better fit early curriculums. History is usually the main focus of the class, and is often just called "History" class if not "social studies". So you often will learn geography in History class. They are not the same but this is most likely why they are saying it. Cuz their only experience with learning them was at an early grade school level.

This is why I’m a devout pessimist, to me it doesn’t really matter if he cut out people that got the questions right. Acting "of a generation" is about your general mindset. And how similar it may be to people near your age. People who may be on the "generation border" will either side as Millenial or GenZ depending on which makse more sence to them.
And there are plenty of uneducated people from all generations out there that you can use as examples in a video like this.
