I just used mine this past weekend and make two whole chickens. My friends said it was the best chicken they have ever had haha. Honestly this thing is amazing!
You will love it for sure. There is a learning curve to this grill. Log your food and times in a note book and adjust from there when you make the same items again. I have used mine so much I have some of the food down pat like steaks, ribs chicken and such. I now prefer apple or cherry wood chips for smoking. I get them at wal-mart very cheap. Let us know how you make out with your new grill.
I like your thermometer idea. I recently purchased a big easy and installed the thermometer as you did.I'm not sure if mine is working properly. What temperature readings do you get between low and high?
N8tivePatroit565: I bought the thermometer at Lowes for around 10.00. Drill 1 hole put thermometer through the drilled hole tighten the nut your all set. Make sure you have a drill bite that's big if not buy one while at Lowes. I use the thermometer most times when I cook on this. I will suggest you keep a log at first on what you cook and times because there is a learning curve on this type of grill. Once you get use to it you will be fine. I tell you honesty this grill makes the best everything. We have tried steaks, pork, chicken, sausage, and kabobs all have turned out more juicy and tasty and a regular grill. Let us know how you like it once you grill on it a couple times. Grill on Brotha...
I pull the meats out of the grill to test temps and I make sue the probe is pushed into the middle only and not through the other side or near the other side. If I have a chicken legs I pull them out of the Big Easy sit the rack on a table beside the grill and I push the thermometer probe into the thickest part right to the bone. Also I always test more then 1 piece. Don't know if this helps but let me know. Grill on Brotha....

+sgtserginsky I like to cook most things between 400 to 500 for most everything. That would be about 1/2 to 3/4 on the knob above the lowest setting

Do you need the hooks? Couldn't you just lay them on the racks?
Yeppers you sure can but I did not want to turn or mess with them. If you use the hooks just put them in and walk away until you add sauce.
