- The Cartune Company (2003) Ltd in New Zealand does 1uz and 3uz conversions / parts and wiring. We have been working on UZ Toyota V8 engines since 2004 when we did our own Hiace van to transport dirtbikes around NZ. Since then we have swapped to doing mainly just Lexus V8 work from a family owned farm hidden away in our paradise , surrounded by the NZ native bush. We sell parts and simple to follow wiring instructions for the 1uzfe engines. For enquiries email info@thecartunecompany.co.nz Take Care. Kelvin
Shot i been running the fuel pressure in my boat at 58psi, might explain why my fuel pressure drops off to zero when engine off.
I think you will find you don't have a drain back valve in the fuel pump is why it doesn't hold pressure. Not really an issue with an aftermarket ecu. Cheers Kelvin
@CartuneNZ have one way valve in line after filter, so im guessing a injector or many is leaking
Chinesium, this is what we are supose to get use to and except now, not much quality around these days, onto landfill in a few years when something fails or breaks.
Correct. Its a bit disappointing but I now understand the dry break connectors and how to modify them to work somewhat correctly. Maybe I should design a strickly lexus kit?
Hello, I’m troubleshooting a non vvti 1uz and I’m getting around 20psi before the damper, I’ve replace the filter and drained tank to blow out the lines for possible clogs. Pump was new but any suggestions to test pump?
So, is it possible to bump the fuel pressure up a cpl pounds to go with the added air of an intake?
Excellent advise from you sir to simply watch the entire video FIRST !
This YT channel is professional repair of Luxury Lexus (and other cars) methodically described in detailed long form instructions and data advise.
This channel is not some rando snap-chat-y nor TikTok-y.
Thanks for the compliment. I often try to put the really quick answer at the beginning for the guys with a 2 second attention span, then expand as most of my views like the information. Cheers Kelvin
How did u bypass the fuel pump resistor?
With a piece of wire. Cheers Kelvin
What causes that whine on startup? Mine has that same annoying sound. Thanks!
Just for you I made a video to repair that whine on that car. th-cam.com/video/bbXjBCq3JGQ/w-d-xo.html
After replacing my injector diaphragms, fuel pressure regulator, pump, and filter, I'm losing fuel pressure on acceleration. Once it gets to about 5k rpm my pressure has dropped to 18 psi / 1.25 bar. It's 50 psi / 3.4 bar at idle. Any suggestions?
Excellent doing the pressure testing. Either there is a leak, like at the outlet of the pump or maybe a voltage supply issue. Cheers Kelvin
When testing the fuel pressure 3 gauges showed 3 different values. :(
It is a china gauge but all were within the spec so close enough to be called fine.
Hi Kelvin, not sure if another video already address this. But understanding that under pressure is bad , and cause bad performance that is notible. but what if the system is running at 4 bar , it seems to do so nicely. Idles smooth and drives fine. Would there be long term gremlins that should be addressed. Or will the ecu correct it automatically. To correct any over rich fuel mixture. Using an OEM ecu not aftermarket.
Also worth noting it is that it is in a build i did in my shed. Its for my 80 series cruiser. So as such some things are not present like in the car.
I run them fine at 4 bar, it results in better fuel atomization and provided rest of the system is healthy, like the oxygen sensors they run well. It gives it only a small percentage more fuel and I check the fuel trims and if I'm happy I leave it alone.
Thanks
hey Kelvin from the other side of the world (im in Saudi Arabia), amazing channel .. i was wondering what causes long cranks while engine is hot (3UZ FE SC430 2006) very good condition and well maintained .. suddenly started to take long cranks after using (but fires amazing and quickly when cold) i have already changed the cooling sensor since its the only thing i havent done for a while (didnt help with a hot start but reduced my fuel consumption rapidly) .. i was wondering if it might be the regulator on the fuel pump ! my mechanic said its the fuel pump (no codes at all and the car runs idle like a new lexus) but the car starts amazing when cold ! i dont think its the fuel pump otherwise wont start and run amazing even for long rides ..... what do u think ? shall i go with that or i might have fuel injector leaks ? i guess even fuel injector means not idle and dosent give smoothe rides but my sc430 rides like Aladin Carpet :) thanks and cheers Majed
2nd !
Unfortunately for you I don't have an exact same time to release videos every time. Cheers Kelvin
Better at unscrewing, hah. We all have life skills. I'm better at screwing up
Haha. I have screwed up plenty, but hopefully Ive learnt from these screw ups. Cheers Kelvin
