I want to thank Austin for telling his story to us here on AfterPrisonShow. What he has gone through I couldn't even imagine. I hope you will keep in mind the seriousness of all of what he has been through.
People who are saying he's on some shit... no. He's explaining an extremely traumatic experience and his movements show high anxiety. He isn't on anything, it's just really hard for him to talk about. Have some respect.
Yes, he is explaining a very traumatic experience while tweeked as fuck. I'm not taking anything away from his story but he is clearly high and needs help. You are just ignorant to it and that is OK. I am going to assume and shouldn't assume but, his experiences while locked up are now probably driving his addiction. Which is the new nightmare chapter in his life.
I have anxiety and when you're talking about trauma like that you're going to move your hands and i know that because i got raped 2 different times. He is not high on no drugs. He has bad anxiety and that's it
I had to pause the video and just sit here for a minute before going on. He killed somebody and that load is enough to bury any person's soul. On top of what he has been through since it's almost a wonder he can go on living.
@@SquaredMisfit what's it like to be perfect ? He drank to much , did the dumbest thing in his life and paid for it ! He probably still pays for it everyday , 1 for the guilt of his crime and 2nd the psychological damage from prison . I'm willing to bet you would've hung yourself if you were in his shoes . Again ppl make mistakes no matter how horrible the outcome is , they dont deserve to be beaten and raped . One a separate note , Prison is full dumb fucks who think with their dicks , so desperate for sex they end up raping other inmates . Its pathetic as hell , most ppl can just masterbate, but not fuckers that think about sex 24/7 . The type that have 4 or 5 kids they dont even know ! Funniest part is that rapist will still claim hes straight lol , no you're bisexual , which is fine but dont try to hide it !
I'm so sorry that this guy had to go through this, I'm a grown man, did 11 years in prison, and am a strong man, but my heart goes out to this kid, I pray that the scum who victimized him suffer for what they did, I'd never tolerate rapists, whether they're raping men or women, it doesn't matter, all rapists should die suffering.
@EJ O looks to me like you need explaining. You could hear yourself that he wished it were him, he obviously felt horrible about it and regretted everything. He didn't deserve to be raped and get a disease that could make him dead.
@@mistersniffer6838 Dude the guys that raped him probably are killers or have done worse stuff and letting them do this type of shit in prison is fucked up they are there to pay for the stuff they did not to do what the fuck they want.
Ummmm he fucking killed a person and you feel bad cause he got fucked and served one year lol imagine that was your loved one that was killed and this guy got one year.
This dudes inner strength is otherworldly! It definitely takes a man to speak out and be upfront about such a dramatic experience. I wish nothing but strength and love to Austin.
I got jumped when I was 19. by 5 dudes, but I was 210 lbs from lifting and working construction, and it STILL sucked Hella-bad. Bless Austin. I hope this young man has found peace, and I pray for his health.
I worked as a Mental Health Counselor in Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Many of the officers are poorly trained and lack empathy which is a prime recipe for rapes, and other abuse by predators in prison. It is the same in Juvenile Corrections, but the officers are even worse.
I think about the fact that someone was killed because of Austin but THEN I realize that I have driven while intoxicated when I was younger. They only difference between me and Austin is that I didn't hit anybody. This was a tragic story for all involved.
Exactly!! I am a part of a jail ministry and tell the inmates regularly that in the past, I have done some of the same things some of them are locked up for and the only difference is that they got caught and I didn't. Thank you Lord!
Yes. He has already paid his price by being sentenced to prison. Even the worst criminals do not deserve to be raped. That’s one the worst destructions that could be inflicted on a fellow human being.
Everyone breaks laws and the way laws are written 99% of people commit felony's Like taxes Omitting truth on forms Stealing time at work Terroristic threats Carrying weapons Covering up conspiring before and after facts Fighting 99% of you are just lucky
He has PTSD. He has suffered severe emotional sexual and physical trauma and I'm so glad none of those maggots got out. He is a survivor and I pray he remains well in health and mind. I pray he finds his life mate and is taken care of until .......peace be with Austin
Fucking idiots too. Three years till freedom, and then you decide to randomly beat and rape someone? The stupidity alone requires a life sentence. A side from that, they really should Die. I mean that whole heartily. People like that are a Cancer to this entire world.
The scum that did this to him are nothing but cowards. I think they deserve to be jailed for life. Plus I hope each of the 6 gets exactly what they did to this poor man.
Unfortunately the guards let it happen because they’re just as sick and corrupt as the prisoners. Especially if you’re a pedophile they’ll watch you scream in pain beat up and all that (for those people, rightly so).
I worked at a fed prison I had 150 inmates on my B side and 149 inmates on my A side! I also had to either go upstairs or downstairs to assist with the other units count! At that time my unit has no officer, unless it's 7-3 then case manager and unit staff is there! But if its after 3pm or a weekend or a holiday! I am it! And if you can figure a way to keep your eye on 299 grown men all at one time I would LOVE to hear it!
The fact that the system had the capacity to help provide extra protection to inmates and didn’t until AFTER one was brutally assaulted shows how dysfunctional it is.
It just shows that the officers who were working in that area weren't on point. It's no welcome to prison. Officers do your job, and then that guy wouldn't have gotten rape.
@what's up Well, I think the issue here is not that he put himself in bad situations, it is that he got AIDS and is dealing with the trauma of having AIDS. No one deserves getting AIDS bro.
@what's up Those guys clocked him. His keywords were "He had a routine." When you're locked up never be predictable in your routine because you never know if someone is plotting on you.

Makes you realize...regardless what you think about people going to prison, there are people who are bad people and there are people who make one bad decision and somehow it feels they should not be put in the same places for punishment or rehabilitation
That's right. I hate when people talk crap about being in prison, and and therr all criminals. They are dilisional. You can be the the most law abiding person in the world, it only takes a Split second, for something to change your life and be locked up

@Adam Malec I hope you're referring to a violent criminal and not, for instance, a person whose political views you disagree with. I've come across alot of evil people lately that wish me the worst type of life because they cant tolerate that i see things differently then they do.
His physical reaction to the trauma is heartbreaking. I have my own situation that causes the same movements, breathing pattern, having that extended first syllable you can hear the effort it takes to even say the words.
PLEASE do not ever conduct another interview while standing over the other person. You are literally looming over him in a dominant and authoritative stance. He's talking about some very serious and traumatic things. You should be at eye level with him; creating an equalizing and relaxing environment for him. I seriously doubt that your intent was anything but pure... just wanting to help Austin tell his story, and I appreciate the upload. Just be mindful when you're dealing with people who have been through trauma and asking them sensitive questions about their experience. Please 🙏.
I highly doubt after all he has been through; him standing there has any effect on him at this point..Now if his pants were around his ankles standing over him......
You are wrong. He's not a detective. He's already familiar with the host, and friends I imagine. I'ts a nice day, he jumped up and sat on the table for an interview. Host is being extremely respectful, and even let's him know he has his back, "take your time." i.e. 'you first'. You are mistaking your opinion and personal intellectual approach to this situation, one which you have limited info on, for some kind of truth. It is not. You have a fundamental emotional fear of the unknown. I suggest you work on that. Please🙏.
ohh exactly you let some politicians or somebody with power and importance get locked up for one i dont thin kthey would even be housed around that and 2 they would make sure everything was sugar sweet for them...... but those are the ones that need to be in the cells getting jumped and fucked .... high and mighty mfers
@Markus Lopez they allow it because of lawsuits from activists advocating for the inmates. They practically demand that they not be locked up too long by themselves because it “affects” their well being.
This guy is a true man. It takes balls to warn others of what can happen even though it forces him to re-live trauma. Thank you Austin, you're the strong one, not those scumbags. Keep your head up brother
Eye level interview is a good idea. Especially when interviewing a smaller person then ones self. Especially with an individual with a past of being bullied and abused. Basic human psychology.
deeDrama206 Maybe he was standing because that dude didn’t want him all in his space and it’s kinda a small bench. Like dude got raped by other grown men, so he’s probably really uncomfortable with having grown men right next to him and Joe thought that the best way to make him feel comfortable was to stand right in front of him where he can see him and see what he’s doing. People who have been to prison have a lot of real weird mannerisms. Idk man just a thought!
@@Deedrama206 what do you do when you meet someone who has been through some stuff? Sit Indian style on the floor. Both of these men have been in prison, not daycare. Your response is not only judgmental while judging but just like your observation you have never been down.

W proper medication he can still live a full life, the only thing that can hinder any real happiness is A) the way he contracted it and B) the stigma still attached to the disease. He can turn the absolute worse which, sorry, isn’t HIV but taking a life & turn it into a positive experience for others like becoming a public speaker, educator to alcoholics who have had bouts w DUIs. It’s not a game. He didn’t deserve to experience what he did but his life is not over

Everyone i work with HATES these rapists and we hate the fact that people are so scared they wont admit who raped them even more!
If an inmate rapes another inmate in prison, they should be taken out in the yard and shot immediately, in front of all the other inmates. I guarantee it would put an immediate stop to it.
I can’t imagine what he went through and how he’s copping with it, I hope he stays strong and finds the strength to overcome it all! Poor guy ends up with a life sentence after all! @TrollingAndBowling I'm not taking away from anything that he may have experience due to his bad decision making, and I hope that he can inspire others to do better than him. As for your sarcastic question no I wasn't on his jury and I wasn't his judge..... Had I been he wouldn't have gotten off so easy. If it were your family or your child even that he had taken you might be more on the eye for an eye, or close to mindset! You speak as if manslaughter is no big deal. God bless him though.
@TrollingAndBowling lol, wow you are so triggered! Learn to read.... Really? In such a frenzy to type what you wanted to hear me say, you misread what I wrote. I never wrote that you said, " manslaughter is no big deal". I simply implied that you were speaking of manslaughter as if it were no big deal. "Big difference, very very big big difference" As for the idiot part, that's hilarious someone had an opinion that differs from yours and you result to name-calling....... As for the hypothetical I wouldn't have been able to sentence him to any more time because manslaughter " usually" carries around, "2-5yrs" well the actual fact of the matter is that he took a life that's pretty cut and dry, and I think he only served 1 yr so that in an of it's self left more time that he could have been sentenced to serve, I mean hey he earned it right? Good night signing off, and forgetting you exist in the process, so go ahead type something in a frenzy and know that you made me smile..... Merry Christmas, God Bless, 2020 is going to be awesome!
Yes he did. This confession of a cautionary true story and I needed to hear this. I am frequently asked to go to the bar for a drink, even though I lost interest in the nite life. I but foolishly I would consider it and I am so grateful that I am standing on MY SQUARE and will not let Satan trick me back into that risky, stupid behavior and end up killing some ones beloved family member. I know some of you know people who always want you to go out and drink while not caring how or if you make it home? Satan is always setting traps!
I work in an Australian remand prison and this happens every day. Most victims are too afraid to say anything. I see men ask for blood tests and other nurses shut them down, where I not only perform the test, I give the men a chance to vent in a safe environment and give them options. There isn't a day where I don't attend an assault of some kind.
I very highly doubt the truth of that. Sexual assault isn't happening that often in American prisons which are much more violent than Australian prisons

Prison should only be for Psychopaths and those dangerous to society not for poverty striken crimes like selling weed especially as you can buy it legally in California
I made it through the majority of the video without nearly crying, but when he said he got diagnosed with HIV due to the rape, it broke me. I hope no one else has to go through this...
Don't make jokes about me having sympathy, it's what the world needs. I was saddened by hearing his story about how he got HIV from something against his power, he didn't choose to get it. Some inmate forced it on him, and there was absolutely nothing he could do but take it, that's what broke me

Terrible interviewer ... standing over him, hands on hips, telling him what he felt instead of asking him. Sit down next to him and let him tell his story. This is more like an interrogation
This man is an inspiration. Damn sure one of the strongest men I’ve ever seen in my lifetime, it takes a true soldier to go through what he did and still continue life.
@Spanish Ramon Why don't you tell all these law abiding citizens what looking out for them means in lockup? I'll tell 'em for ya. There is a chain of events that has to occur before somebody "looks out" for someone in prison. It usually goes like this: A con will target a fish, usually a unknowing white guy, and befriend him. He'll spot him food, drugs, cash, alcohol. In the process he gains the trust of the fish. But, the fish don't know that he's racking up a huge debt and the interest is extreme. After the fish has racked up an unrecoverable debt and is told about it, he's given two choices: Die or fuck. He just got turned out. Now he's the cons punk. The con will protect him from assault from other inmates, the punk will iron his clothes, do his laundry, and give up the ass whenever he's told. He's now a "wife". Often they will be pimped out for $5 for a hit to repay their original debt.
Tim Haslett Also, not every guy in prison is down to rape another man dude. Sometimes people do exactly what you said, but they’re not interested in sexual favors. They’ll protect him and in turn, yes they do their laundry, clean the cell, maybe cook, maybe supply commissary, but it don’t automatically mean the dude protecting him is also sexually assaulting him. There’s only a small percentage of people in prison who are down to fuck other men. And typically people stay away from those guys. It’s not the 70’s or 80’s anymore where prison rape was rampant. It ain’t like that.
He's has an entire life ahead of him. Anything that could've killed you're spirit and didn't only makes you stronger. I'm sure that Austin is way tougher today than ever before and will continue to be all while helping others and taking care of his physical, mental and spiritual health. Kudos!
This is a brave man. Many men would not have the courage to admit they were gang-raped...they think it shows weakness, but it is just the opposite. Austin is a mentally and emotionally strong individual with a helluva lot of balls.
Kate actually the dudes rapin his UNspecial self had lotsa balls , nobody give a damn bout wen females get raped so cool it with the male entitlement .... typical Caucasity smhl
Halimah Jedani - typical Caucasity? Not really...Personally, I give a damn if ANY human being is raped....you see, I can have empathy for more than just women or men. Maybe you should try to empathize with people who have suffered. It'll improve your hateful outlook on life.

You can also have withdrawal from alcohol dependence. He states very clearly he had issues with drinking in the past. The man isn't tweeking. He's re-living traumatic experiences in order for someone viewing to make a change in their life for the better.
Anyone saying he deserves to be raped for accidentally killing someone in the way he did are just crazy. Ya'll are straight up weirdos. Of course he should've went to jail for much longer time but RAPED come on.
He should have went to jail for a much longer time because someone is dead. White privilege is good. If he was black they would have locked him up and thrown away the key.
For the people who say, "who cares he was raped, he killed someone." Need to know this, with trauma of gang rape if you live after the incident, you will WISH you were dead. Have some compassion. Sometimes it's harder to go through something traumatic and chose to live and move forward, to the best of your ability, than it is to die so you can be peace and not be burdened with the memories. You're not the same person after something like that. Your mannerisms with people are different, the way you view people, the paranoia cause you can't trust anyone and people who knew you all know your different now and you start to lose those relationships because you can't relate as well tk them your almost a stranger. The way you react to hurt feelings change ir people think you're now more sensitive or angry than you were before and begin to distance from you. Well Austin, I hope at some point you find a good girlfriend, and you CAN move forward. I hope wherever you are, you're okay now
He took someone else's life and got an 8 year sentence dropped down to 1 year. That's grossly unfair to the victims family member who died in the car accident. He should've gotten life and I don't care that he was raped.

My heart is breaking for this guy. Its heart warming to see him set there & have the balls to talk about this. My uncle was raped...same situation. He is no longer here. We lost him in 2006 to suicide. He left a note saying he couldnt live with it anymore. I wish this guy all the best of happiness in this world. He has to keep his head up & just keep pushing forward.
Austin did his sentence and if you don’t like the laws we have a legislative process to change that. He didn’t deserve to be gang raped no matter what he did. Have you ever messed up and hurt someone accidentally? Probably. Would that person want you to be miserable and suffer the rest of your life? I personally pity all the people who have hurt me, abused me, done unimaginable things to me and I would much rather than try and be happy than live in misery and spread their misery around to others. Austin didn’t mean to do his crime although it was very dumb and he is making amends by telling this horrifying and embarrassing story to warn other young people how serious the choice to drink and drive is. Would you rather him just kill himself and not spread his message? He deserves to be happy too

According to who? If he got one yr or 25 it shouldn’t matter. He’s not a murderous. A man who is murderous would not talk about the things he’s been through in that manner. From the looks of it, the time he did spent in prison was suffice. @@ericksimmons9188bruh… do you realize why many don’t entertain these types of comments anymore? Just because she has left the person that died out of the story does not mean we don’t feel for the other victim. Use your brain a little, seriously! This video is about him and his experience and that only. Remembering the other victim has its place and time too. And it doesn’t mean we can’t feel for both sides. Someone that died doesn’t experience pain anymore, so they are better off, compare that to someone who got gang raped, that is WAYYYY worse because you endure actual pain and torture and suffering, not peace of no longer existing.
Truth, guys: Under the wrong circumstances, what happened to this man could happen to ANY man. Anyone can be overpowered, whether outnumbered, injured or drugged. A story like this should make people take a hard look at their own character and ask themselves how they would get through it. Austin, respect, man ✌
Absolutely! Alot of men think, "...that would never happen to me. I'm a strong guy, I would never let any man or men for that matter rape me." I worked as a Mental Health Counselor in Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Amen 🙏
Oh,they're "held accountable" when sh*t goes down,or when they wind up on the other side of the bars
You definitely dont know how prison works. But thats a good thing
Hey! Funny seeing you here... Do you have any upcoming comedy dates?

It just shows that the officers who were working in that area weren't on point. It's no welcome to prison. Officers do your job, and then that guy wouldn't have gotten rape.

@jasonvoorhees5640 yes. I was graped as a child, and now I live in fear of fruits 🍇
I like this dude. He's the kinda guy I looked out for when I did my six yrs. I rolled with guys like him and we all made it.
@Spanish Ramon Why don't you tell all these law abiding citizens what looking out for them means in lockup?
I'll tell 'em for ya. There is a chain of events that has to occur before somebody "looks out" for someone in prison. It usually goes like this:
A con will target a fish, usually a unknowing white guy, and befriend him.
Tim Haslett DAMN, THAT’S MESSED UP
@@twinkletoes110 Its the truth, fella. In prison, sex is about power. Not pleasure.
Thank you for protecting and thinking about someone other than yourself If I'm in danger please let someone help me

Austin, thank you for sharing your story, man. I hope you find peace in life. You deserve it.

What about the people he killed? We just forget them and feel sad for this guy?

Rene Agudo I never said life... but sure as hell more than a year got a completely unavoidable accident!
According to who? If he got one yr or 25 it shouldn’t matter. He’s not a murderous. A man who is murderous would not talk about the things he’s been through in that manner. From the looks of it, the time he did spent in prison was suffice. Im sure he would rather spend the typical 5to 8 for manslaughter then experience getting jumped and gang raped the short time he was there. There’s different levels of suffering for your wrong doings.. and how much time you do isn’t always a factor.

Takes a lot to tell this type of story. Hopefully people listen and learn from it.

Absolutely! Alot of men think, "...that would never happen to me. I'm a strong guy, I would never let any man or men for that matter rape me."
