John Williams: I’m Working On Animating The Arthur Movie 🍿 Created By Marc Brown Music 🎶 By John Williams From Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures In Association With Nickelodeon Movies 🎥 & PBS Media Teaser Trailer In October 4th 2024! Coming Soon 🔜
Pretty bad comparism. Neither was John Williams a child prodigy, nor did he write in as many genres and for as many different groupings of instruments as Mozart did. He is more like the Giusseppe Verdi of our time. Lending his voice to stories of other people and outside of doing Opera (Filmscores) has done very little else.
No matter which "Star Wars" movies we fans like or hate...all of us LOVE John Williams' music. "Star Wars" isn't "Star Wars" without John Williams' music. The music was a character in and of itself.
Music is part of the storytelling, you can argue it even is the storytelling and to me the best example of that is Duel of the Fates. Literally, John conveys how the fate of the galaxy is tied up in this duel, the fate of Anakin Skywalker. the epicness and grandeur of the scale of the situation at hand, he emphasizes the Jedi and Sith at a conjunction they’ve been destined for. All of this, he conveys in Duel of the Fates.
That's true! Every Star Wars movie has beautiful music, but unfortunately they always ignored the prequels in those documentaries about John Williams music 😢
@@archietall2339nahhhh John Williams literally created THE film scores. We wouldn’t have everything else we have today without him. He is THE film composer. He literally gave Hollywood a new age of music.

John Williams is as much a credit to the success of these movies as everyone else involved in making them. A true genius of our time. So excited for this documentary.
So glad you mentioned Hook…while people outside of my generation treat that film as a stain on Spielberg’s record, the music is still quite remarkable (and to someone who loves the movie, it’s the ice cream on a delicious slice of pie).
Just finished watching the documentary. It’s so beautifully done. Thank you John for sharing your soul through your music. From one musician to another, god bless you ❤

There is no doubt that this documentary will join the ranks of Disney+’s finest offerings, akin to "Light & Magic." It is destined to be extraordinary!
It is an excellent documentary not only about the life of John Williams but also about the Hollywood film and television music industry in general. Real quality material.
There are many great film composers, past and present - but HE stands above them all. If all he made were music to Spielberg movies ( e.g, Jaws, E.T., the Indiana Jones movies, Schindler' s list, Jurassic Park, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, etc.), he still would have the right to be in the Hall of Fame. But beyond that, he made iconic music for the Star Wars saga, with multiple famous themes! And even beyond that, he made iconic themes for Superman, Home Alone, Harry Potter ( no latter composers could avoid his themes), and more... John Williams is a cinematic LEGEND!
Not only weren't the Harry Potter composers after him able to avoid his themes, they all failed to do them justice. Except maybe Desplat when he decided at the end of the 8th one to just use his music for coming back to Hogwarts unchanged.
John Williams is like the Jedi Master of film 🎥 composers. And this documentary was very satisfying to watch. I especially liked Spielberg talking with John about all their previous films together and the behind the scenes footage of John and the London Symphony Orchestra conducting his most popular themes.

I had just moved to Portland OR in 2011 and heard on the radio John Williams would be playing locally. Didn’t really have the money for tickets but stuck it on a credit card and took my brother. Sitting there when he came out and started Indiana Jones was amazing. Still one of the best things I’ve ever done, even more so because of his age now.
John Williams is the one consistently great thing throughout all of Star Wars. Even if it’s a movie you don’t like, his music is always brilliant in it.
I’ve watched hundreds, perhaps thousands, of trailers in my lifetime. Know how many times I’ve broken down and cried over a trailer? Once. Just once. This trailer.
John William's resume is jaw dropping... I had the pleasure of recently (2025) chatting with his son Joesph who is now touring with the band TOTO as lead singer.
One of the best stories about John Williams is he and Jerry Goldsmith were friends, contemporaries, and competitors. They pushed each other to always improve at their craft. Supposedly, Goldsmith and his wife went to see Jaws, the opening titles finished and he leaned over and whispered, “I’m not winning the Oscar this year.”
Am I John Williams fan? I have about 30 of his CDs, I’ve seen him about 20 times in concert and I have the sheet music to the Star Wars Theme tattooed on my arm, so the answer is YES!!!!
One of my greatest joys in life was attending a Boston Pops concert when John Williams was the conductor, and listening to the Superman movie theme performed live. I’m glad Disney is recognizing this talented musician and composer and, based on the trailer, including the Superman theme as one of the pieces of featured music.
The main theme for Superman rings in my ears and I start to get emotional because I listened to the music as I saw my hero wearing a red cape with a big S on the chest, and as I got older and realize it is John Williams that wrote the music after all these years, it's now a core memory that I'll never forget. Music truly moves the soul in ways no other can. Without John Williams, Superman would not be remembered in the 70s and 80s with Christopher Reeve on screen flying and making his entrance. For that I will always love John Williams' music.
I'm 30, one dream of my life is to listen to John and a symphony live. Since he is not performing anymore due to age, with all due respect, I will gladly drive up from Florida to his grave site, throw on some headphones, and listen to his music right by him having my moment. People all around the globe may not know his name, but they his music and how it has moved us and cinema through the decades.
I've seen music of John Williams with St. Louis Symphony Orchestra at Powell Hall many times over the past 2 decades and it's always the most fulfilling experience!
“Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.” Phew. As a singer songwriter, I find it so affirming to hear that from him. Music is like the force; it sustains us. If only we had more time to hear more of it. To tap into its power 🎶 thank you John Williams for gifting us with your music!
The BBC did a documentary about him before TESB came out in 1980 (just look for Star Wars: Music by John Williams 1980 BBC Documentary); it included snippets from his earlier stuff (Jane Eyre etc). Great to see an up-to-date doc about him. A true legend and more than top of his game.
I just saw the documentary and i thought is beautiful. It’s lovely to know more the life of a mith like John Williams, but the most awesome was to hear all the love the Spielberg and Lucas has for him, all just adore him ❤
It's long, LONG past time this man's incredible story was told! Even at 92 (!!!) he's still working, still creating and still influencing hundreds of artists. John Williams quite literally wrote the soundtrack of millions of people's childhoods, and it's great that Disney+ is finally giving him his due while he's still around to see it. If anyone ever tells you movie themes aren't "real" music, you just sit them down with one of his albums and say, "Now shut up and listen." It's guaranteed to set them straight.
There's an special place in everybodys heart for John WIlliams, James Horner, Vangelis, Hans Zimmer, Morricone, Giaccino, Desplat, Alan Menken, Alan SIlvestri...
@@henningbackhaus6268 Yes, thank you for mentioning Mr. Goldsmith!! I just listened to his CD score for Total Recall (1990) this afternoon. For me, he ranks right behind this tower of a legend of a composer Mr. Williams!
Listening to the music from the final scene of E.T. makes me tear up every time. Listening to the march from Superman makes me feel inspired. And listening to the scores from Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back take me back to when I was an awestruck kid sitting in a dark movie theater. John Williams’s music has been a huge part of my life for almost 50 years. Thank you, Mr. Williams, for making the world a better place with your gifts.
Nope, there is always room for debate, and there are a handful of other greats who would challenge John Williams for that moniker in my book, Ennio Morricone and Jerry Goldsmith for starters. That said, Mr. Williams would be on my Mount Rushmore of greatest film composers.
The 2nd most nominated person in Academy Awards history with 54 nominations. Jaws, Star Wars, Harry Potter, E.T., Jurrasic Park, Indiana Jones, Superman, Close Encounters, Home Alone, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List and many many more classics scores, that more more important than the movies themselves. He has set the standard for movie composers for nearly 50 years. John Williams IS the greatest film score composer of all time. This is long overdue.
I had an opportunity to meet him years ago. Los Angeles City College had a tribute event for him. John Williams was once a former student at the college. He was humble and gracious. This documentary will highlight his brilliance in music and give us a greater appreciation for the hardwork that went into creating all those iconic film scores and Olympic themes! Some of my favorites are Superman, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Far and Away, Empire of the Sun, Indiana Jones, and Olympic Spirit!
To say John Williams is our generations 20th century's Beethoven, Bach & Chopin is not an understatement. As their music inspired generations of musicians and composers, John Williams' music as inspired generations and will continue to inspire generations to come #JohnWilliams #StarWars #Superman #IndianaJones #ET #Jaws #CloseEncounters #JurassicPark
One of my favorite parts about Universal Studios Orlando is that it is the closest I will ever come to going through life with a John Williams soundtrack.
I can not wait to see this and honestly his music is a part of cinematic history. So this should be shown in theatres across the country and not on Disney+.
Yes, he scored the first three movies. And while different composers scored the rest of the series, they continued using the main theme Williams originally composed for Philosopher's Stone.
Film History has it's fare share of Actors, Actresses, Producers, Directors, Writers people look to who have made indelible impact. But the Composers are always a crucial part of the final product. Film History has a long list of great composers who deserve just as much adulation such as Max Steiner, Alfred Newman, Eric Wolfgang Korngold, Dimitri Tiomkin, Bernard Herrmann, Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Danny Elfman, Ennio Morricone, Alan Silvestri. But at the top of every list of the greatest composers in the history of film, it is undeniably and without question John Williams.
The amount of awe, wonder, and imagination that all these pieces of music have brought by John Williams is incredible and would not be the same if they weren't there. Can't wait to watch this film!!!!
One of my favorite playlists I've ever made is called "Make me feel something, John." I spent weeks going through the scores of every film he worked on and pulling out the songs that tug at my heartstrings. I learned so much about him and appreciate him so much more. Definitely looking forward to seeing this
Only one shot from the prequels...I hope this doesn't mean the prequels will be ignored like before 😢 Duel of the Fates, Across the Stars, Anakin's Betrayal, Anakin's Dark Deeds, Battle of the Heroes...So many iconic scores by John Williams
Revenge of the Sith is my all time favorite score. I agree, it's so good and I wish it got more love. Immolation Scene is one of my favorite things he's written.
The prequel trilogy is John’s magnum opus for me; especially ROTS man that entire soundtrack is just the cream of the crop, the best of the best. ❤️ #episode3isthebest
I was literally trying to put into words the masterful work of John Williams the other day and explain to my son just how much of an impact he has had. He is the modern-day equivalent of the classical greats, from Beethoven to Vivaldi to Mozart to Bach to Handel and beyond. I can't wait to show this to my kids!!!!
John Williams the greatest composer ever. His our dearest friends not only at Disney, but the entire Hollywood and our music lovers. And I always listen to his orchestra every single day! Star Wars, Disney Olympics etc. I'm totally worship him!
I live in Vienna and there has been a great series of concerts celebrating various Hollywood composers and awarding the Max Steiner Awards each year. So the conposers all visited Vienna. And the concerts had a Symposium (a talk) a few days before them, where music students and also other people could join and listen to what these had to say. Of course all people attending were John Williams fans. But it was really great to see and hear, that also all other composers always talked incredibly highly of John. So also among his peers and Hollwood colleages he's untouchable. He really IS that good.

Music truly moves the soul in ways no other can. Without John Williams, Superman would not be remembered in the 70s and 80s with Christopher Reeve on screen flying and making his entrance. For that I will always love John Williams' music.
People will be playing his music for generations to come. Greatest living composer, imho.
I confess I'll be a weeping mess through most of this. The. Only. G.O.A.T.
I started when I watched this...twice! And I'm still 😭!
Anakin's Dark Deeds was peak emotion
Indeed it was. Truly a masterpiece.
FINALLY... Something from Disney I want to see!! Been a while
I'm 30, one dream of my life is to listen to John and a symphony live.
And above all: Jerry Goldsmith. Probably the most versatile film composer there ever was. ^^
@@henningbackhaus6268 Yes, thank you for mentioning Mr. Goldsmith!! I just listened to his CD score for Total Recall (1990) this afternoon. For me, he ranks right behind this tower of a legend of a composer Mr. Williams!
Also, Basil Poledouris and Bernard Herrmann, especially if you're a Hitchcock fan.
John's music has been with me as far back as I can remember, and has helped lift me through difficult times. Thank you, Maestro.
What is there to say about John Williams at this point? he is the master, the greatest composer of our time.
As a film person and a fan of John Williams, I'll watch this day one.
This man is the movies. We are blessed to live in his lifetime. He has given us memories to fill generations.
The greatest composer of our lifetime. There is no debate.
Nope, there is always room for debate, and there are a handful of other greats who would challenge John Williams for that moniker in my book, Ennio Morricone and Jerry Goldsmith for starters. That said, Mr. Williams would be on my Mount Rushmore of greatest film composers.
John Williams...The maestro and music genius of our lifetime. Thank You Mr. Williams for sharing your gifts to the world.
Nire than once he was nominated twice in one year.
Thank you maestro, for everything!
The music in the trailer is enough to give me goosebumps...imagine just sitting and listening to all of his soundtracks. ❤😍
The opening theme of Star Wars always bring tears of joy 🥹
and Binary Sunset brings me hope.
John Williams is easily one of the best in the business when it comes to composing and conducting music. He is legendary!!!
John Williams is a global treasure and a global legend. His soundtracks iconic. Delighted to see this documentary to honour & celebrate him.
One of my favorite parts about Universal Studios Orlando is that it is the closest I will ever come to going through life with a John Williams soundtrack.
I can not wait to see this and honestly his music is a part of cinematic history. So this should be shown in theatres across the country and not on Disney+.
He will live forever.
John Williams is such an inspiration, I can't imagine any of his films without his music.
He's the one who created the Harry Potter themes right?
No
The first 3 films, yeah
For the first two or three movies
Yes, he scored the first three movies. And while different composers scored the rest of the series, they continued using the main theme Williams originally composed for Philosopher's Stone.
For the first three, which also became the blueprint first the rest
So yeah
He’s a national treasure. His music is the soundtrack of our lives.
When the Jurassic Park theme started playing... omg 🥹😫😭
One of the greatest minds humanity has produced. We are lucky to live in his lifetime!
He was the music of our childhoods
Fabulous! I’m off from work Friday, and I’m watching this!
John Williams is the GOAT.
One of my favorite playlists I've ever made is called "Make me feel something, John." I spent weeks going through the scores of every film he worked on and pulling out the songs that tug at my heartstrings. I learned so much about him and appreciate him so much more. Definitely looking forward to seeing this
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart walked so that Ludwig van Beethoven could run so that John Williams could sprint.
I loved his music in Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and many others.
He was my childhood and i love him much.
John Williams Isolated Score Across The Stars ⭐️ Bambi And FALINE’s Theme
Agreed, the prequel scores are right up there with his best work in my opinion
The prequel trilogy is John’s magnum opus for me; especially ROTS man that entire soundtrack is just the cream of the crop, the best of the best. ❤️ #episode3isthebest
I watched the documentary tonight and it was spectacular
1:36 The Poseidon Adventure mentioned!!!? This documentary really is in depth....
Living Legend!
John Williams the greatest composer ever. His our dearest friends not only at Disney, but the entire Hollywood and our music lovers.
And I always listen to his orchestra every single day! Star Wars, Disney Olympics etc. I'm totally worship him!
Star Wars
Indiana Jones
Jaws
Superman
Harry Potter
Jurassic Park
Iconic franchises Iconic composer
I live in Vienna and there has been a great series of concerts celebrating various Hollywood composers and awarding the Max Steiner Awards each year. So the conposers all visited Vienna. And the concerts had a Symposium (a talk) a few days before them, where music students and also other people could join and listen to what these had to say. Of course all people attending were John Williams fans. But it was really great to see and hear, that also all other composers always talked incredibly highly of John. So also among his peers and Hollwood colleages he's untouchable. He really IS that good.
